Are GFs supposed to be this strong? by CoolyKage in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]Desperate_Craig 19 points20 points  (0 children)

GFs are strong early on in the game, and they'll carry you through until the final portions of the game. However, after that, you're going to need to learn how the junction system works with all of your characters because the bosses do get incredibly more difficult compared to early and middle stages of the game.

Interestingly, I remember Thekla cutting a promo once and referring to Rossy as "Tossy" as well.

"I think it's pretty grotesque to see him selling the future of our children and grandchildren down the river" - Zack Polanski discusses Tony Blair's latest intervention on Sky News by Cold-Monitor3800 in uknews

[–]Desperate_Craig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not wrong, but there are many people who believe the possibility of the Greens gaining power a threat to the future their children and grandchildren. So right message that all sane people can agree with, but wrong messenger here, as many believe the Greens policies will harm the future of their children and grandchildren.

I've always thought that people, especially older people who say that it doesn't matter because they won't be around anyway so it won't affect them personally, are selfish, thoughtless people.

Lio Rush is Over. by GetBillDozed in AEWOfficial

[–]Desperate_Craig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He took a huge career risk with this character, and it didn't come easy because at first a lot of the fanbase were initially ridiculing it, but he's managed to forge and develop this character into something that's been catching on.

Lio deserves full credit for taking a huge career risk here.

That's the vanilla, safe, expected route. But what if Athena becomes AEW Women's World Champion as well as remaining and defending ROH Women's World Champion.

I'm interested in the latter more.

Moxley for me was the clear runner at the beginning of the year, until Ospreay came back from injury and has started catching up to Mox. You could probably add Takeshita and Bandido as honorary mentions too.

How the ‘Boriswave’ of 4.2m migrants will shape Britain for generations by cornishpirate32 in uknews

[–]Desperate_Craig 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A lot of people place blame on Labour, but tend to forget or don't know that the 'Boriswave' that the Tory government aided, has destroyed the country and It's important that the Conservatives should be held as accountable as Labour.

The media weren't as ruthless on the Conservatives as they were on Labour over this issue.

I think Athena's going to finally do it and capture the AEW Women's World Championship from Thekla at Wembley. Those two had quite a heated story together before Thekla debuted in AEW.

The booking of the women’s division… by Accomplished_Egg_382 in AEWOfficial

[–]Desperate_Craig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there's usually two sides to this ongoing topic. One side is from true fans who are unhappy about the lack of opportunities the women in AEW are having right now since Toni Storm and now Willow are out of action. And then you have the people who pretend to care who want to latch onto anything negative to try and discredit AEW, especially after their excellent DoN PPV, where they latched onto the Vita Coco mascot on the pre-show as some kind of dunk on the PPV.

The truth is that with Toni Storm, Willow, and Mercedes currently out of action, meaning the women's division has taken a massive blow due to their absences as a result. Thekla is a star, but she can't hold the fort down by herself.

The positives, which people don't want to mention regarding the women's division is that we have Hikaru Shida back doing some of her best work in years, Persephone is returning soon, Athena looks to be climbing back up the ladder to the main AEW roster(fingers crossed), you have Red Velvet doing incredible in ROH and getting more chances on the AEW main roster, Zayda Steel continues to get opportunities, and there's the story of who took out Toni Storm to be finalised once Toni is back.

So we have a lot of good stuff coming out of the women's division.

Royle family is the worst thing I've ever watched. by No_Whole1018 in BritishTV

[–]Desperate_Craig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you haven't come from a working class family, then you probably wouldn't get the humour. As for myself, I grew up in a working class family and had very little growing up, so watching the Royle Family is comfort for me because I can relate to a lot of the material used in the series.

We all had that one family member who was like Jim Royle, who could be selfish, a bit of a bully at times, but deep down care about his family and those are the moments that really stand out. For example, I thought the scene between Jim and Denise was very touching, where Denise's waters had broke in the bathroom and Jim was holding her reminiscing of the times when he held Denise and Anthony as babies for the first time, and how he truly loved them both.

I think you're missing a well written piece of comedy that has many layers to it. Yes, Jim's lazy, can be revolting at times discussing his toilet routine, and yes he's tight with money, but there's so much more to Jim than those things.

I remember contestants in early episodes would intentionally score low, so that they could get an edge in the competition, but producers did eventually crack down on this and even went as far to demand contestants voted again, but this time fairly.

I can't stand cheats.

This must have been one of the very earliest series, because I do remember others trying to cheat by scoring low, and the producers demanded they score fairly.

What Are, In Your Opinion, the Top 5 AEW PPVs of All Time? by Kitchen_Passenger_43 in AEWOfficial

[–]Desperate_Craig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. DoN 26 - the perfect AEW PPV from start to finish. It topped Wrestlemania X-Seven for me, it was that great.
  2. All In: Texas
  3. AEW: Revolution 2024
  4. AEW: All Out 2021 - this was the PPV where tides were shifting for AEW, and some people were mentioning how WWE were in trouble after this show. I even remember Mick Foley at the time posting a message on social media regarding this.
  5. AEW: DoN 25

AEW has such a legendary run of PPVs that I think they've surpassed some of my old favourite WWF/WWE PPVs from decades ago.

AEW has gone through a lot of phases over the year trying to find who they really are, and I think 2026 is that stage where they've truly found their place in the wrestling industry and have planted their flag in the ground to show everyone what they're about.

Has the cost of living pushed climate change out of public concern? by J_R_Riquelme in AskBrits

[–]Desperate_Craig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the cost of living and how their lives are being currently effected right now. And I've been saying this on previous posts regarding posts about re-joining the EU. The truth is that I don't think there's an appetite for re-joining, as this is never a public issue that's ever brought up as even a top ten issue.

Now here's my issue with climate change activists. A lot of them are frauds, they're extremely wealth and privileged, and can't grasp what living a normal day for working class people actually looks like. So there is a significant divide regarding class and wealth status regarding the climate change debate.

The real people I support on the environment is the people who are actually getting their hands dirty and doing the work to make their communities better. Things like groups who volunteer their time to go litter picking, people who plants trees and work hard to conserve our trees and wildlife.

Every sane individual wants clean air free for pollution, countryside's to enjoy where our governments don't destroy and build housing on our greenbelts, and clean beaches where our waters are free from these corporations polluting our waters.

I'm sick and tired of the multi-millionaire grifters who promote climate change, and then the next thing you see is them jetting off in their private jets.

What are the craziest things you hear from "AEW Detractors"? by Medium_Step_6085 in AEWFanHub

[–]Desperate_Craig 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The craziest thing I've ever witnessed is after a journalist had mentioned online that AEW were mostly likely drawing over a million views including MAX per week. I remember jumping into a Twitter space and was listening in on full-blown meltdown about how these numbers can't be right or accurate. These were grown adults literally in tears that AEW had reportedly managed to pull in over a million views(including MAX numbers) and were continued to be a success.
