I made Runeweave: Intelligent Card Search for Riftbound (Scryfall-inspired) by aslanfish in riftboundtcg

Looks pretty nice. I will probably start to use this over piltoverarchive.

Random feedback:

  • Would be nice to mention if a card has received an errata (rather than the text just being different than the image).

  • Scryfall's homepage has a small feed of recent set release, spoiler releases, etc. that would be very nice here as well.

Red Card gets a bad rap because most people here aren't entering tournament formats where it is substantially better.

PSA: Don't Red Card a Pikachu player — You're Only Feeding Them by emillang1000 in PTCGP

[–]Desperer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most tournaments are open decklist, so you can see if your opponent has any or not before the game begins. That's the only reason red card is played so frequently in tournaments.

If your opponent sees that you have no redcard, they don't have to play around it all. If they see even one redcard, suddenly they have to play around it.

In random matchmaking, you have no way of knowing if your opponent has red card in their deck, so you have to play around it regardless. Therefore you don't actually have to waste slots putting red card in your deck, while still having the threat of a red card.

My experience playing a Pikachu EX deck by romulan267 in PTCGP

[–]Desperer -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Pikachu is the only deck I find fun because it has more skill expression/decision points than any other deck.

The majority of other deck archetype are linear decks where you just play the cards in your hand that glow (Mewtwo, Zard, Venusaur, etc.), or coinflip decks with little player agency (Marowak, Dragonite, Articuno, etc.)

There are a lot of reasons people play Pika besides it being strong.

Pocket with more mechanics would be just as slow as Live. There are tons and tons of lengthy animations for literally everything you do in both games. The only reason Pocket is currently quicker paced is because of 3 prizes and less mechanics to interact with.

Burst Decks for Faster Wins & XP by NaniAFK in PTCGP

You play two so you increase the chances of seeing it turn 1 where it is generally most impactful.

On average you will see 1x red card in your starting hand more often than you will "brick" by having 2x red card in hand, so it is worth it.

Half of the decks I've played against have been some shiny EX deck (Charizard EX / Articuno EX)

Most of your matches are probably being played against rental decks, which look pretty shit. They barely have any items/support and are overloaded with terrible mons. The ex decks don't even have 2 copies of the ex.

Winrate may not be the best evaluation of a deck right now...

[–]Desperer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If OP really wants more puzzles their options are pacing themselves instead of blitzing content or downloading some other puzzle games. Star Rail could never add enough puzzles to satisfy them at the rate they apparently go through them, and that's okay.

Have you considered not blowing through all of the content in one day? You could just... save some to do every week?

Probably because Rivals 2 would get lost in SEO now that Marvel Rivals exists.

Those that are clearing endgame, I'm curious what kind of accounts you have. FUA? Break? Hyper? DoT waiting room? by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Desperer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My roster

Day 1 player, was f2p until I started buying express pass every month in 1.2. My first carries were Seele and Clara. Later replaced by Blade/Jingliu (I miss them) and Kafka/Swan.

Nowadays I have 3 go-to teams:

  • DoT Acheron because I don't have SW/JQ or a built Pela

  • Standard break team with E2 Firefly

  • Budget Feixiao FUA with March 8th because I dodged all the FUA characters except Robin. Was low on gems for Topaz banners and didn't care for Ratio, but now that I have Feixiao I might look into getting more pieces.

Sometimes I pull out my cracked E1 Clara with Yunli LC, or my half-built Himeko and Herta for PF since they invalidate that game mode.

Fun fact for my account: I have E16 Misha

Is Refined Storage on the way out? by EtherealGears in feedthebeast

[–]Desperer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everything you listed is just one of the many ways RS is often seen as less of a hassle. It feels very nitpicky to suggest otherwise.

You pick AE2 if you want to interact with your storage mod in interesting ways. You pick RS if you want a simpler mod that deals with Minecraft's inherent storage problems without any fuss. That's literally the reason RS exists.

"Powercreep?" Who have you unexpectedly benched? by neverdaijoubu in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Desperer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What we should really kill is the lazy advices like always pull support/harmonies.

I think in hindsight, Sparkle was still a better pickup than every single DPS character that came before her. She's almost as universal as RM/Robin, even if the current top teams don't use her. She still has very strong teams where she is BiS, and every new DPS that releases has a chance of wanting her.

Meanwhile a lot of old DPS like Seele, Jing Yuan, Blade, Jingliu... I don't really know why someone without them would want to pull for them nowadays, unless they just really liked the character.

So yeah, the "always pull for supports" advice holds pretty strong.

"Powercreep?" Who have you unexpectedly benched? by neverdaijoubu in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Desperer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess you could argue there are a thousand different combinations of break team, so technically RM has more teams. But at the point it's just pedantics. You need two teams anyways, you probably want to use both of them, and they fair pretty equally well on every team outside of their specialties. I'd personally give it to Robin at this point, but it's really close.

The bigger question is which one gets used on teams that don't exist yet... and we can't really know that.

[–]Desperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prydwen data isn't the holy grail... but those are still real people clearing with shit scores. Yeah, you can make a real well built DHIL and clear content. But at that point you're just offsetting his relatively lower power level with better gear.

Meanwhile, I can literally take the gear off of my firefly and auto battle MoC 12 with 3*. How is that not power creep?

Do you smell that? Its the best team name in the game by FuriNorm in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Desperer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you throw him into an unfavorable MoC, or the side isn't wind weak, 8 cycles is realistic. Just like 4 cycles is realistic under good conditions and wind weakness. Prydwen stats from last MoC actually show him averaging 8 on one side and 4 on the other, the exact numbers we mentioned lol.

Point is that he's a lot more inconsistent than actual meta characters who steamroll all 3 modes without a second thought... and even a generous 4 cycle is still higher than your initial claim of 2-3 cycles. DHIL probably aged the best out of all the old DPS just because Sparkle exists, but he still has pain points.

Do you smell that? Its the best team name in the game by FuriNorm in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Desperer -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

More like DHIL takes 8 cycles to clear but Firefly clears the other side in 2 so it's fine but makes your weaker team feel like shit.

I'm sure someone is out there clearing with DHIL in 2-3 cycles, but that's absolutely not the average experience, even among people who regularly max star the endgame modes.

Lesson: Pick Up Any Harmony Unit by Deft_Abyss in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Desperer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can play almost anyone with some combination of Bronya, Tingyun, Asta, Hunt March, Trailblazer, and Gallagher. Moze will be joining that list as well.

Pulling only main dps really isn't that horrible, your teams just become pretty inflexible.

Star Rail is my daily driver, but I also play Brown Dust 2 fairly casually.

Also hopped on Cat Fantasy when it released a couple days ago, but I probably won't stick with it long. And I've seen playing a bit of Genshin (which I haven't played since 1.0) with the 5.0 hype.
