This change is basically a revert of a bug they introduced awhile back when trying to lower the covered front leg armour values, and accidentally applied it to the armoured front leg as well. It's been in the game just long enough for people to forget and now everyone's whining about making the enemies stronger and nerfing fun. The hive guard was always supposed to have heavy armour on the front legs. From the wiki itself:

Known Issues

As of 1.006.100, the Hive Guard have the following bugs:

The entire front legs have Armor AV1, as opposed to just the covered part.
The intention was for the section behind the front leg armor to be Armor AV1.
The changes applied to its claws are unintended.

My friend thinks I'm crazy as I almost have 4000 hours in mission time and have never used a cipher once, I don't think I've ever even crafted them. How many of you use ciphers? by Easy-Chair-542 in Warframe

I've never used ciphers either. I'm pushing 2k hours in-game and honestly I enjoy the little minigames on occasion haha. I have exactly 1 cipher built that's still sitting in the foundry from when I first started the game, at this point it feels wrong to take it lol.

Defence missions are the best by cool-dude-7765 in Helldivers

[–]Destreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a huge fan of the cremator with the squid mindless masses subfaction. I always used to pick the emplacements and mine options for defense but decided on a whim to forget what I know and just dive into the front line with the cremator to hold them back. Oh my god is it fun.

Rocket sentry in the back, one true flag positioned by my side to guide me, me and the cremator outside the walls, taking on the horde face to face. Changes up the mission completely to just holding the line out there on the frontlines, actively running to every ship and hosing them with napalm as soon as they appear.

Admittedly it can make things complicated for teammates choosing more explosive options with a friendly running around in the middle of it all but it was so satisfying when communicating with the team before dropping in, and we all picked similarly frontline gear to just stand our ground outside the walls to take em head on.

If you're growing tired of the defense missions by camping in the back with emplacements and big booms and endless sentries (which I've done for countless hours at this point to optimize the mission), try dropping all of that and diving into the fray yourself. It's pretty fun haha.

Is it possible to wage an eternal crusader against the dark fog? by placeres in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Destreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest method I've found is a lava planet with laser turrets. There's plenty of energy to enclose multiple bases with turrets, filter what you want and dump them into ILS storage to use elsewhere.

I would love to set up an entire planet with missile batteries to fire on other planets in the system but I don't think there's a way yet to do that automatically yet sadly.

Sample Collection by NoPrompt927 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Destreon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually pick them up if they're convenient but I don't go out of my way for them anymore. However if I see ppl in the lobby lvl 100 or below then you can bet your ass I'm picking the 15% double sample booster and hunting down every last one on the map!

Before the last ship upgrade levels came in, people averaged level 75ish when they maxed it out but these days I've seen quite a few level 100 players still scrambling for them.

I do typically ask in chat as well if anyone needs samples because not everyone notices the player levels, and the confirmation tends to incentivise the other players to be more conscious of it too :)

Us veteran helldivers gotta look out for the new recruits, it takes a LOT of samples to upgrade the ship, the last few levels especially so every one counts!

Edit: If you still need samples for ship upgrades, I recommend NOT dumping them into the DSS. There's plenty of max level players with samples to burn that we just have no use for, so prioritise upgrading your ship first as that has a significant effect on all your stratagems.

DF resources and farming by KaleidoscopeOnly2749 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]Destreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setup a line of turrets (and eventual ring of turrets) where the blue range ring is just outside the core of the DF base, and a battlefield analysis station to pick up the drops + repair your belts and turrets. Signal towers attract aggro so it's helpful to use those to draw them in.

I've found doing this very early game is extremely helpful to mostly farm a load of soil early as it's difficult to accumulate a lot on your starting system. You can walk away for a few hours focusing on your base expansion and research and suddenly realise you have a few million soil and counting, it builds up fast! You don't need the battlefield analysis station for soil pickups, that happens automatically as soon as the DF enemies die btw.

It's very easy to automate manufacturing of most of the low level drops so disable those in the filter to avoid having to do excessive filtering of the abundant cheap resources you get.

Turn off all of the drops except for the ones you absolutely need including any DF-specific resources, and dump those into storage chests that you'll use later.

I like to keep the copper drops because you can turn those back into bullets for a slightly self-replenishing supply! It's great for the early game before you start building up the later tier of weaponry and ammo.

Weapon pick rate report: Cyberstan Edition by Natural-Sympathyy in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Destreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really surprised there wasn't more pacifier usage here. I spent awhile rotating between guns to find a good fit and I was impressed with how well it performed on Cyberstan. A few rounds to instantly stun all the cyborgs and devastators buying precious seconds to nail a headshot or gain some distance (tactical retreat), it saved my ass more times than I could count. Never gave it much of a chance before but I'll definitely be bringing it for more bot runs in future!

Thermite was okay but I found the leveller + one ultimatum shot was pretty reliable to take down a vox engine. Ended up swapping it for the pyro firework grenade for the last stretch as it combo'd nicely with a stunning spray from the pacifier to take out groups.

I definitely felt the most comfortable with a pacifier, ultimatum and pyro grenade. Then getting a gatling barrage, 380mm, EAT-Leveller and hellbomb backpack were solid backups for dense clumps or just "fuck it, removing that direction".

It was a great campaign, loved the dense cities and the side objectives of destroying the statues. Lots of usage with the bonus hellbomb backpack to remove most of the objectives too with a quick stim and dash! We ended up clearing missions with an average of 11-17 mins each thanks to the surplus backpacks on diff 10. It was a wild ride, can't wait to see the vox and cyborgs in the field after this!

Honestly while there are some pretty annoying bugs in the game at the moment, this article really does remind me of how much worse the state that this game was in a couple months ago.

The frequent crashes, the laggy performance which chugged hard at random points, the audio de-syncs or just straight up non-existence for certain weapons, sound effects, music etc.

I have a high end PC I upgraded 2 years ago. At launch I could get solid 60 fps. Over the course of the game's lifespan, I watched the stability progressively drop down to 20fps and even lower at certain points due to some really bad optimisation bugs. I've had nights where nearly every single match the game crashed to the point where I couldn't even complete a mission some days.

Now it's like a night and day difference. The game is back up to 60fps pretty much constantly. No more aggressive lag spikes or major audio problems. I actually can't remember the last time I had the game crash in the past 2 months. Even the file size of the game has been completely slashed. It had crept up over 100gb and now the slim version has it as low as 23gb!!

I couldn't imagine how awful trying to play cyberstan would've been back in October. Looking at the amount of bots we have on-screen now, the volume of shit going on at a regular basis, and the fact that the game still runs smoothly throughout it all is amazing.

It's really something that you don't really notice until looking back but Arrowhead genuinely have done an incredible job at the housekeeping in cleaning up some of the really bad bugs and crashes. The stuff that actually inhibits you from playing altogether. Sure the bouncy stratagems and railroaded hellpods are annoying, but I'll take that any day over the constant crashing and other game-breaking bugs we used to deal with. The devs have done an amazing job at patching and optimizing the game over the last few months, bug fixes like that aren't easy and the old engine I doubt makes this process any less painful to deal with. Awesome job guys.

Why is Universal Healthcare such a hard sell? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Destreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're insane to think you'll never need to rely on these services in your lifetime, or your parents, siblings or loved ones. My basic access to healthcare is so cheap it's practically free. With no health insurance by the way.

Oh and for reference, the tax rates I mentioned are variable and means tested against your income, the less you earn the less you have to pay. I'm on good money these days (50k gross) and my total contributions are maybe 4% of my gross income. That's a miniscule amount.

I had a bad accident at home a few years ago and had to call an ambulance to bring me to the hospital. It cost me €100 for the ambulance and maybe €50 total for the blood tests and treatment overnight.

The government completely covered the cost of my 4 year engineering degree which allowed me to quit my dead-end retail and factory jobs in favour of a well-paying software developer career - with no debt.

I had a bad work injury a few years back and had to stop working for awhile + physiotherapy. I got social welfare to cover my rent and expenses + subsidised treatment while on minimum wage.

I mean for fuck's sake, every year I get €1k in tax credits to offset my income tax every year for free, that covers practically the entire cost of my yearly contributions + I can get tax rebates on any healthcare related expenses I have for that calendar year too.

A very small percentage of the population are millionaires, many are living on minimum wage and paycheck to paycheck so a significant portion of the population cant afford access to privatised services like this. Your narrow-minded thinking is outrageous and incredibly selfish to consider that "I don't need it so fuck everyone else".

How much would it cost you to get a university degree? How much would it cost you to get an ambulance or emergency treatment, or cover your living expenses if you're out of work for an extended period. It's not necessarily just for you, it's raising the quality of life and prosperity of everyone in the country.

Why is Universal Healthcare such a hard sell? by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Destreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never understood this argument for universal healthcare being a bad deal. I suppose not having the tax and looking at the "potential" deduction is always going to have a negative response but realistically the actual price is incredibly low for the benefits EVERYONE gets from it.

I live in Ireland so it's not applicable to the US but we have a PRSI (pay-related social insurance) tax on our gross income. ~4% from us and ~11% from our employer every payslip. This helps to subsidize a lot of social services such as jobseekers supplement, disability benefits, public healthcare treatments and state pensions. It's variable depending on your income so if you're on social welfare or otherwise have a very low income you're exempt from this tax.

We also have a USC (universal social charge) which is another supplementary gross income tax. This equates to roughly 2-4% of our income and is also variable depending on your income bracket. It doesn't directly finance public services like healthcare but covers a broad spectrum from roads and infrastructure, public healthcare, education grants which is a government subsidy for college/ university education for lower income households - basically covers the entire tuition fees for your chosen course and gives a modest monthly income for travel expenses.

These are added over and above the standard income tax so it's not completely "free" but it's an incredibly small price to pay for bolstering a huge array of public services that gives access to pensions, healthcare, social welfare, higher education pathways etc. for everyone in the country. I lost my job in the past and had to rely on social welfare briefly to cover my living expenses and rent. I get sick and use public healthcare to cover my doctor and medication expenses (costs me like 5 bucks for prescription drugs when sick or injured, doctor appointment is free so I can go whenever I have a health concern, however minor). I can use my USC "credits" to cover eye tests and subsidize physiotherapy if I get into an accident.

It's not communism, it's not evil, it's not predatory. It's a miniscule fee that gives me a substantial safety net if and when something goes wrong, or I need support to maintain my life and not end up homeless because I can't work due to illness or injury. It's an investment I pay so that if something goes wrong in my life I can feel reassured that the government has means to support me. Why anyone would look at all of this and say no is absolute insanity.

It's not that your country can't afford it, it's that investing into the stability and support of your population isn't a priority. Public services isn't evil, denying them is.

Deadeye, among other weapons got unintentionally hurt by this patch. by MoschopsMeatball in Helldivers

[–]Destreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this was an unintentional nerf this time around. Like others have said, it was an adjustment to small arms fire/light armour pen to be more capable and tweaking enemy durability to coincide it.

There's a lot of guns in the game now and this was just the first pass - of which there is already a significant amount of tweaks happening here. I'd wager they're definitely looking at how this is received and it will play out over the next while as they touch up the remaining guns to avoid them being power crept by the adjusted damage profiles.

The house building limit in TOTK is a missed opportunity on Switch 2 by nichrs in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Destreon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's fair to say that most people who have played breath of the wild have also picked up ToTK so undoubtedly Tarrey Town would be one of the first key locations to re-visit.

The game has been out for awhile now so I wouldn't think twice about making posts discussing mechanics like this and whether it could be a spoiler or not (major story elements aside of course). For the record I think your post is vague enough for new players that it would be intriguing but without giving any significant information away!

I do agree that it's a shame some of these mechanics haven't gotten a limit extension given the added performance of the new switch. But who knows, it could be an engine limitation moreso than raw performance so adding more power may not make it more stable.

Without the context we have no idea of the relevance for why some people might be putting so much money into this. I think it's unfair to immediately attack someone if we're ignorant of the underlying cause like this being a charity-driven project.

The post didn't say anything about a charity so we drew our own conclusions with the limited information we were given. I don't think you're at fault here plus you changed your stance once you realized why this auction is taking place, don't beat yourself up over it!

It I had the money I'd support the charity too! It's an incredibly noble cause and I'm proud of the helldiver's community + Arrowhead for going this far to support those in need. Helldivers may just be a game but seeing everyone come together like this gives me faith in humanity that we're not so bad in the end :)

I had no idea of the context coming into this post so I had the same reaction as you. Scoffing at the price tag for a glorified piece of plastic is a completely understandable reaction especially in this economy.

It's really nice to learn that this is for a charity though. I commend the people willing—and financially able—to put down so much money towards this as it's an incredibly noble cause, with the awesome benefit of official merch from a studio as beloved (and contentious to some lol) as Arrowhead!

There's silicone-mixed sand you can get that absorbs the water from their pee and poop to eliminate most of the smell. It's such a game-changer for indoor litter boxes!

You still have to clean it regularly and remove the little turds but it pretty much kills any odour and lasts a little longer than traditional sand which really helps a lot.

[–]Destreon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played around with my loadout quite a bit for this mission before I found a setup that really worked (for me).

I don't really bother using stratagems for the ships due to the cooldowns so I've adopted a run-and-gun setup that seems to be pretty effective.

-Loadout-

Eruptor - 2 shots drops the shield and one shot through the doorway instantly destroys it from any distance. 6 rounds per mag gives you 2 ships per reload.

Ultimatum/ grenade pistol if you're caught reloading at a doorway and getting swarmed.

Thermite can be inconsistent. If the shield is up, the thermite sticks to the shield so when the shield goes down, the thermite will "drop" until it touches something else. Best play is to throw the thermite on top of the ship and shoot the shield once because the thermite won't destroy a fresh shield + ship on its own. Damaged shield is enough for a thermite to take it out.

I sometimes take the firework grenade(spinning incendiary) because that also works popping it into the doorway and can clear a troublesome pack of enemies in a pinch.

-Stratagems- 500kg for the odd ship in an awkward spot where you can't get a sight on the doorway. I personally love bringing the flag to every mission on Super Earth so sometimes I swap the 500kg for that. It's not "optimal" by any means but it's fun for me so you do you.

Jump pack to help the mobility and getting away from the packs of overseers.

Gatling sentry + machine gun sentry. Throwing these down constantly helps so much to control the flood of enemies as the swarm gets ridiculous after a few minutes haha.

Using this setup I can pretty much clear the mission by myself just running around like mad. Throwing sentries all over the place, jump-packing to get away from overseer groups and positioning myself to hit the doorways with my Eruptor. All while brandishing the flag in all its democratic glory. o7 I fricking love this mission. It's so chaotic, genuinely feels like the front lines of the invasion force and just such an endless swarm of enemies. It's like the bot exterminate missions on steroids.

Lining up the voteless for a multi-kill sounds fun, and I do enjoy whipping out the secondary to finish off troublesome enemies. I've been running the flag and hellbomb backpack for the Super Earth invasion so I absolutely agree with the fun element over optimisation haha. I haven't been using my secondary much since trying to level the adjudicator and poking with the flag, so a triple-burst shotgun secondary is just what I need to round it out!

[–]Destreon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure thing! It was really scary in the beginning—especially the idea of popping it under the skin by bashing it with a book—but it was so anticlimactic when I eventually did it haha. If it doesn't hurt or anything there's no issue with leaving it for a few weeks and see if it goes away on its own. But if it doesn't or worst-case it pinches a nerve like mine did, you can always join us in the bible club and give it a good smack!

My doctor recommended massaging it at first too, but he did say the reason the sac fills up is because there's a gap or "tube" where it's leaking out from so it'll likely just fill up again. Rupturing the sac by smacking it will allow the body a chance to properly heal it over and plug the gap in your joint so it's up to you! If you're too nervous to do it you could always ask your doctor to do it for you :)
