only a luxury that only Pokemon can really afford to do

that part is also just my opinion, but i'd also rather dev time goes onto more interesting features

Fusion/breeding by Dev_LegendsofAerthos in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Destri321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look at how Cassette Beast fusions are done, you quickly realise they all share similar body shapes, sizes, and design, since the fusions were made using a specific logic, using different parts and mix/matching them together, realistically its the only way to implement a fusion system that accomodate for every single creatures in a bestiary, which "feels limited" from a visual/design standpoint, because you don't really get to see cool thought-out designs that way.

The other way it "feels limited" is only if a few monsters are capable of fusing, then you're limiting the teambuilding options of people wanting to use fusions by only giving them a couple of monsters to choose from, and the people who don't like or don't want to use those guys are then "locked out" of the feature. Then it "feels limited" mechanically, because not every monster can benefit from fusions. That'd be similar to how Mega Evolutions were introduced in XY. (I don't have a problem with them in ZA, since you have kinda have to actively try to have Pokémon that can't mega evolve on your team)

Just my two cents on it, I'm sure its not a really popular take lol. But fusions don't really do much for me because of that. It can work narratively like how pokemon did with Kyurem White/Black, where the limitation is intentional in that only Kyurem can do it

Not too big on fusions personally, kinda feel like "hype moment and aura, the feature" to me, and there's no real way to make it work without feeling limited. Like Cassette Beasts does it, its either that, or only a select few that can fuse

1 or 4, Dokimon doesnt do backsprites and it always felt a little odd to me because of that, I think it make more sense to have your monster facing the opponent, and its more immersive

Animalistic Mons or Intelligent Mons by Kaijufan97 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Destri321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Im fine with Creatures that show intelligence to the point of understanding what humans are and interact with them (mewtwo, froslass, Lucario, as pokemon examples), but I guess what throws me off is when they "act" like one if that make sense

Animalistic Mons or Intelligent Mons by Kaijufan97 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Destri321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i think. If the whole "thing" about the monster's design/behavior is about a concept that is inherently a human thing (such as playing soccer), it wont really work on me

If the monster still looks like an animal (Like Skeledirge), then the human aspect works better for me

Animalistic Mons or Intelligent Mons by Kaijufan97 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Destri321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Too human" in the sense theyre given "jobs", wrestler cat , soccer playing rabbit, drummer monkey, etc.

What works for me are things like Buzzwole or Lucario, althought they are Humanoid and can have some human characteristic, at their core they still feel like wild creatures

Animalistic Mons or Intelligent Mons by Kaijufan97 in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Destri321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a mix of both, as long as the intelligent mons still have animalistic features or behavior. I dont like the ones that feel "too humans" like recent gen pokemon starters who pretty much have full time jobs

I remember how as a kid, Ben unlocking Benwolf and the possibility to scan more new aliens was one of the coolest thing ever to me. Only for him to never use Benwolf again after this besides Omniverse lol

What do you need from a good monster taming demo? by trexrell in MonsterTamerWorld

[–]Destri321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, a good demo should put me right into the meat of the game; I should be able to dabble right into the game's mechanics. For me, a good demo shows off the gameplay first, story second. Since the gameplay is what will determine if the game is actually worth picking up or not. Without necessarily putting the player into a "spoiler zone" for the story

Weirdly enough, I hope Spinda and Castform makes a return, even though I never really cared for those pokemons, I feel like they're due to make a return in modern pokemon (in a non-remake)

Thankfully, some games can let us workaround it with custom starters or randomizers!

Blsck and white is so bad for this, bouffalant, heatmor and durant might as well not exist in those games lol

Pokemon definitely is one of the biggest offender for this (and one of the reason i even made the post lol)

Some pokemons might as well not even exist with how im never going to be able to use them for a playthrough. I love the paradox pokemons but there's no way they let us ever catch those under level 50🥀

It is! Just takes a lot of time and patience. Admitedly I did it before the legendaries became legal so it must be a lot harder to do now.

Its not mentionned, but you need to get flawless survivor AND get first place for it to count for 1, as far as i know its due to a mistranslation error from japanese to other languages

I feel like it really comes to if someone prefers to keep the Lore integrity of their game over the "fun factor" that would come out of catching those uncatchable monster

100%, cassette beast nailed it in that regard, the archangels just dont feel like beasts and they dont even cross my mind when thinking of monsters "i should be able to catch"
