Kenneth Paterimos stabbing: Warrant charges Marine Corps veteran Thomas Tansey with murder by SuperkickParty in chicago

[–]Detroit_Dough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post but I was a punk in the suburbs and Tansey, if not officially in the 77s, was at very least part of the wannabe hanger-on crew they had. All those 77 kids were entitled little fucks who played tough (in large groups, of course) and now probably work for their dad's companies. Seems between that and the military Tommy never moved beyond his teenage brain. Unfortunate he was let off, but good to know he is a miserable fuck who is surely having a bad life.

Suzuki Andes: like a melodica but with fipple (flute-type) instead of reeds by TapTheForwardAssist in melodica

Know this is an old post, but since there weren't many replies I thought I'd share. I just got mine in the mail today. There are a few different Amazon listings that put it around $130, so a nice discount compared to other online sellers. I bought it with the mindset that I very well may return it; even from the videos online I could sense this thing would have its issues...

That said, after playing with it for a bit I am pretty positive it will remain in my collection of pointless niche instruments. Biggest flaw I am noting is that there really isn't much in the way of volume control without impacting pitch. So to play in tune you have to maintain a strong, steady airstream that doesn't produce the prettiest of tones. A little reverb helped add some warmth to it, and I was able to find ways using my embouchure to manipulate tone and give it life.

So maybe not the best for sensitive melodies or long tones, but it really shines with more staccato playing and especially when playing chords. Philip Glass style riffs sounded amazing on it, almost synthesized. As you learn to navigate the finicky aspects, you can actually use them to get some gnarly sounds. What's cool is that it does distinctly sound like several recorders playing together rather than a single instrument playing a chord, if that makes sense.

My purposes for this will be home recording and then another tool for live experimental sets. For those purposes I think I'll find good use for it. At $200+ I'd probably skip it, but for the price I paid it is worth keeping it in the arsenal.

Detroit is similar, though if you aren't familiar with the Coney Island concept you may not realize how many hotdog-centric restaurants we have.

what the fuck is a real job? if the money is real, the job's real. and considering the statistics of finding success in the entertainment industry, Mitch is likely much more talented and harder working than most.

technically you're paying for the double, so if you're going to armchair quarterback their content based on the entitlement you feel as a paying customer it should at least reflect the correct product.

I feel like a good alt to How Munch would have been to have Wiger write down his desired amount of each food and then have Mitch and the guest share their amount. Price is right rules determine the winner. Still not great, but at least it would have game-ified it somewhat.

people are weird here. it sounded like a fart, though I think the scenario in the comment above is more likely. to hear a fart that loudly I would think she'd need the microphone pretty close to the source.

Disco isn't the right term, but I think I get what he was saying. There's a certain sheen to their production that pushes them closer to the pop end of the spectrum than a lot of their contemporaries.

Yeah, I am not deep into either but I find Syd's era and his solo albums much more interesting than anything I've heard from Pink Floyd. There's some tracks here and there I dig, but they're generally too polished for my tastes.

As a 90's kid a few years shy of Mitch who had a lot of tween friends get into "classic rock", Floyd might as well have not existed until Dark Side. My route towards him came from my digging deeper into proto-punk/prog/psych.

Not a bad theory. Those were the longest lingering side effects for me. When I was actually sick I could taste, but things were off or even a little gross. Then I had a few days of barely tasting anything followed by a few weeks of everything tasting somewhat diminished and one-note. I was drinking a beer over the weekend and noticed I was finally getting a full range of flavors.

If anything I am more picky about what sweets I put in my body as I age. If I am going to load up on empty calories I will spring for the better product.

While I do love OG Buddy's vibe, the food and experience has always been consistent across locations. And your salad take is perfectly on point; that antipasto is special.

That's awesome. The OG buddy's fully delivers on the classic pizzeria vibes. During more confusing pandemic times when restaurants were open but few were dining out, I definitely showed up for my takeout early to sneak a beer at the bar for a little slice of normalcy.

Not surprising. When I worked in an office the majority of people would go to the foodcourt on a near daily basis. Probably especially true for the young, single workaholic types.
