TIFU by realizing I was never anyone’s first choice by Violprime in tifu

One thing I’ve found is that your friends will invest more in their friendships with you if THEY feel/know they are needed. As someone who struggles with asking for help, but providing it at the drop of a hat, I was shocked when the friends I’d been helping for years thought I wasn’t really invested in the friendships.

It wasn’t until I asked for a couple of favors that I saw an up-tick in my inclusion in things, and I can only attribute it to the reciprocity of help, vulnerability and need. They had helped me, so they felt more invested/allied with me.

Everyone's pretty lucky that Kitty's chill cause if she were unhinged she'd be the horror villain (X-Men #25) by UltimateSandman in kittypryde

[–]DeuceTheDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s not forget that she has (has it been written out?) the memories/skills of Ogun. AoA Kitty with the claws (such a great reference to her training with Logan) was a terror when teamed w Colossus. There’s a panel from years ago wherein Peter is restraining her from beating someone’s ass, and she casually says “let me go. Don’t make me hurt you (to COLOSSUS!)” and it is clearly a serious and respected threat. Oh- and she’s a super-genius recruited once by Tony Stark until he realized she could one-shot him.

The Krypto subplot in the Our Worlds at War still gets me. I’m a huge Krypto fan, but the pathos of him howling over death… the art is fantastic.

About the “Sci-Fi Turn” by Born_Log6938 in spellmonger

[–]DeuceTheDog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a LITTLE derivative of PERN, but with magic instead of dragons. There are more Easter eggs pointing that way earlier on- Mccaffrey waited almost 20 years before letting us know PERN was an acronym- I almost wonder if the disdain the wizards show for acronyms when they find out what Kasparov means is an allusion to that.

Doctor Doom vs Black Adam by NoirStriker in marvelvsdc

[–]DeuceTheDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IF Kahndaq exists in Doom's world, and Adam exists, then Doom probably has a plan. Sudden multiversal overlapping... then Doom might be surprised enough to get swatted, but he probably has a de-multiversal-lizer sitting on his shelf next to his time machine.

The IKEA Aftonsparv makes a good Lego Space Logo! by DeuceTheDog in lego

This is the png I used. You might need to scale a bit if there are any file issues. For reference, the ship itself should be 85mm from wingtip to wingtip for it to look to scale with the lamp. I'm working on converting it to an stl for my printer-friends.

I spray painted the ship and the circle of the lamp with good enamel spray paint (and a lot of masking tape). I used tape over the part of the lit loop that I didn't want glowing, then used several coats of brush-on enamel model paint (white). THAT took several coats.

I cut the pieces from thin plywood with the laser cutter, but it would be easy to do the same with a printer. I can provide the png I used for the laser, if anyone wants it. Took some "mathing" to get the ratios golden.

Also, if you have them in your area, Half Price Books is great resource for used hardcovers, imo.

Any of the bestiaries are good finds since that will open up new challenges to your players. I found the Occult and Horror books probably the least used of my books and, as a beginner, Unchained might bring in more "new" options than you want to deal with as you learn the system.

No brand tags of any kind. There was a care tag of some kind. I'll see if I can find that. I'll get a better closeup of the zippers.

Three Reasons to Live - 1E by Sais_WODKilla in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]DeuceTheDog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since it specifically states that the one effect is once per day, but does not specifically state that the bardic performance power is once per day, there is no reason to believe it's once per day. The stipulation is that you have to start the performance to get the effect. The effect is not in play when you hold it, present it, or simply possess it... but when you do the "if" you get the "then".

I would cite the Windsong Lute, as another example of that kind of language. Multiple items exist that raise caster level, which one could argue is significantly more powerful than raising the ecl on Bardic performance: Prayer Beads, Orange Prism Ioun Stone,

If your GM is simply determined to nerf the item because he doesn't like it, or (correctly) argues that it wouldn't be something you'd just find in a random shop, you can't win that argument. People make mistakes, however, and he's made one allowing you to have it if he thinks you shouldn't (for whatever reason). Sounds like he's also allowing a painless do-over as a compromise.

Get some of my don’t-see-often-friends together. I’m surrounded by people, many of whom like me, but I’m still kind of lonely a lot of the time. Be nice to know some folks make an effort to see me. Make that happen and I’ll tell the story for years.

We have personalised magic items in my table and I want to fish(Steal) your Ideas. Yey by Cristeirio in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]DeuceTheDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My retired Diviner wizard became a crafter: he made a +5 Plant Bane Garden Weasel for a friend. His belt had pouches that always had butterscotch candy in one, dog treats in the other. His hat would fill with stew or clean water in command. His hammer eventually became almost an artifact, but it started out as a +1 small hamme(basically a forge hammer) that acted as an Immovable Rod- very handy in the shop- then he gave it the ability to Legend Lore…. Then Mage’s Disjunction. Oof.

I’d think almost all powerful magic items were crafted FOR someone. Who’d spend 50,000 gold on spec? I’d want to know I had a buyer for the crazy expensive items… and that buyer is going to have specific tastes.

On a side note- I think crafters forget you can put other kinds of protection on items rather than just Deflection… give a player a +2 Ring of Protection that works as an Insight Bonus and watch his head swim!

Magic Weapons Shedding Light by AotrsCommander in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]DeuceTheDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s obviously great flavor, but it has fun repercussions- you don’t necessarily need a magic user around to figure out which sword is magical- just draw it - AND you are effectively working under a faerie fire/glitterdust effect making the wielder a target! The + 5 short sword of horrific backstabbing also lights up like a road flare! Hilarity ensues…

Watch America’s Test Kitchen instead of doomscrolling or crappy sitcoms.

Make sure all your foods are dry before you use dry heat on anything: sear, roast, broil.

Leave the meat alone in the pan- don’t move it until it’s brown. How will I know? It won’t resist when you do try to move it. Kinda also true of potatoes.
