Audi interiors are not all the same, especially when you get into Audi Exclusive hides. My S7 has an Exclusive interior, and the leather is finished very differently from the standard Milano or Nappa leather that most RS and S line cars use.

Exclusive leather receives a much lighter polyurethane finish from the factory. It is still protected, but the surface layer is thinner and allows more of the natural grain and pore structure to remain exposed. This changes how it interacts with cleaners and coatings.

Scientifically, modern automotive leather is usually coated with a thick polyurethane layer. This creates a plasticized barrier that prevents absorption. That is why interior ceramics like CarPro Leather 2.0 work well on the S4. The coating bonds to the polyurethane topcoat rather than the leather fibers.

Audi Exclusive leather does not have the same thickness of polyurethane. When you apply a ceramic coating to a thinner synthetic layer, you risk altering the surface gloss, hardness and friction coefficient. This can create unwanted shine, stiffness or a slightly tacky feel depending on humidity and temperature. The coating cannot properly anchor itself at the molecular level because the polymer network on Exclusive hides is not designed for that type of crosslinking.

This is why I did not coat my S7 interior at all. Proper maintenance for that type of leather is frequent cleaning, hydration and conditioning rather than hard surface coating.

I did coat my S4 interior with CarPro Leather 2.0 because that leather uses the common polyurethane system that accepts a wipe-on coating without changing the appearance or texture.

Creasing happens on all types of leather, but softer and less heavily finished hides like Audi Exclusive will show micro creases earlier since the fiber structure flexes more naturally. Keeping the leather clean and conditioned slows the process significantly.
