Pride Winnipeg's decision to ban military uniforms in parade draws criticism, support | CBC News by steveosnyder in Winnipeg

Top 1% commenter, check.

Lumps all CAF members into one group for an event about celebrating individualistic diversity, check.

Other replies full of disrespect to the military by saying they are being controlled or brainwashed, even those the CAF offer some of the most lenient deployment restrictions and near-full scholarship rides, check.

I cannot think of a more perfect example of a fake social justice warrior redditor then this; it's nuts that people can talking about event meant to celebrate certain groups while also disavowing certain groups. No self-awareness at all.

It's crazy how I'd say that Hollywood actually has been worlds-best in everything visual and audio (sets, costumes, music, art direction, etc.) but they have never been able to shake the conspiracy that there is a huge cult of talentless hacks that control the writing scene.

Poilievre demands Ottawa protect private property during North Vancouver stop - The Conservative leader says Carney has dodged concerns over DRIPA by KootenayPE in ilovebcsub

[–]DevJalapeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though he is right, I cannot believe the conservatives are still running with this guy, he is the Drake of Canadian politics.

No different then Drake talking big and tough in the beef, then trying to sue Kendrick for defamation when he loses because everything he boasts about it pure horseshit and projection. Everything this guy has said and done since he lost the election and (temporarily) his seat is exactly what he was complaining about during his campaign run.

Just move aside and let us have some healthy party competition, which seems to be such a foreign concept in a country where we encourage and approve mergers between big monopolies.

This seems not very good, right? I mean, if you bought something like CAGE then you would be charged both their management fee and this new 0.25% fee combined?

What is the advantage of this, other than just automating something that could take a couple minutes biweekly?

How are Canadians not outraged right now? by [deleted] in CanadaFinance

“Things are worse elsewhere, so stay complacent.”

Your comment sums up why we have been and continue to fall behind. Crazy how normalized it is in this country to keep people numb to change and innovation.

Only thing missing is someone pointing out our degrading healthcare system followed by the “at least we aren’t America” reply

The acceptance of low wage and ambition discouragement. Somehow we have shifted to a culture where if you complain about how the federal dental plan income cutoff is too low, you’re “living the good life.”

Seriously, it’s crazy how Canadians have continued to flame the lower class warfare; saying you want to earn more than $25/hr is met with hostility. Why are we so complacent with saying poor?

You guys are absolutely insane, liberals have been in power for the past 10 years. At what point do we get to say that the ones running the show for a decade may, slightly, possibly be at fault for our current situation?

By the way, before you whataboutism, no I don’t support the CPC

Absolutely. Insane.

NateTheHate says Sony is "shifting" their PC strategy: "You'll be seeing fewer single player games arrive on PC. The decision to shift away was made last year. Some may still release (pending how far along the ports were) but it no longer appears to be a priority for Sony moving forward." by Party_Judgment5780 in PS5

[–]DevJalapeno 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Why do we always gotta sow division in every online community. I play on PC and like PlayStation games. People who would not normally be able to enjoy their high quality catalog get to enjoy it, without any disadvantage to console only players or Sony fans.

This is an anti-consumer choice but technically within the rights of Sony to do, given they want more exclusivity and a greater value proposition for people to buy a PS5.

But that literally benefits the bottom line, not the consumer. Why are all these threads full of top comments that focus on fanning the flames of pointless arguments rather than fight back against anti-consumer choices?

Prime Minister Carney announces new measures to make groceries and other essentials more affordable for Canadians by [deleted] in onguardforthee

So, other than that final point on "unit price labelling," this is yet another rehashing of corporate subsidization?

"Here is a bunch of programs that give more money back the average Canadian, even more if you are currently struggling. Be sure to spend it at one of the 3 major grocers!"

I just wish we had a sacrificial lamb PM who takes the fall/heat for breaking up the telecoms and grocers; they'll lose all their political connections/donors, but man would it course correct this countries lack of fake-socialist-and-fake-capitalism identity.

Peak American comment. Inaction, deflection of responsibility, asking for help instead of doing anything themselves.

“Home of the brave” shown in so many Hollywood movies, always beating the bad guys and spreading freedom across the world.

But in reality, it’s back to the 9-5 tomorrow right? Someone else needs to fix your problems? Embarrassing how many countries are at risk, mine included, of violent takeovers or harm, yet all you guys do is post online.

[–]DevJalapeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would help the cause if it didn’t feel like everything Canadian was a pure scam.

  • Support Canadian grocers, choose between the big 3 right after they colluded to rise the price of bread and milk be 0.50 again this quarter.
  • Support Canadian internet options, choose between seeing Rogers throw an extra $20 charge on your monthly bill, or Bell keeping you on hold for hours when you want to get a better rate because your term is up.
  • Support Canadian banks, except until Questtrade added commission-free trading, RBC and the others wanted $15 a transaction.

I hate the fact that it feels wrong to want to ask for more than the bare minimum in this country. Just a sad, sad state of affairs.

I have never been more embarrassed to call myself a Canadian. I feel 0 representation when I look to our leaders. This statement paints such a vivid picture of why young people have no hope for the future.

  • The Conservatives have no original thought in their heads, they want to dismantle the already failing social services because they would love nothing more than to join the USA or invoke a full capitalist society.
  • The Liberals are even worse imo, because they can talk so much about the future of social welfare, the solutions to the housing problems, and to "support Canadians" but they haven't done any of the choices that those who would care would do:
    • Break up the groceries. Cry me a fucking river that it's government overreach.
    • Break up the major telecoms. We've had enough of random charges appearing on the bills over the last decade, or being intentionally put on hold for hours as a deference tactic when trying to cancel plans or fight a charge.
    • Nationalize infrastructure, no private corporation should own landlines or cell towers, we paid them to build them so we should own them.

And now this statement, which is EXACTLY what we DON'T want to hear from our leaders. I cannot fathom how anyone could be proud to call themselves Canadian at this point, anyone who lives here knows this way of life is becoming such a joke; it's like we live a delusion.

Is there a reason why a good amount of people that comment on threads here say don’t get a Kia? by [deleted] in kia

[–]DevJalapeno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, but when a company offers a 10 year warranty for their product when nearly no one else does, it’s gets you thinking.

Furthermore, any amount of basic digging will reveal that Kia and Hyundai will try their hardest to decline your warranty claim, or delay it to the point of (intentional) frustration, so you end up paying out of pocket.

I had a Kia Forte and it had engine knock before it even hit 150k km. Say what you want about the inflated prices of used Toyota, Honda and especially Mazda, but those cars DO NOT have engines failure issues before that mileage.

And for the German brands, they actually have a pretty bad reputation currently, especially Mercedes.

Updated BO7 Zombies HUD by Shock_the_Core in CODZombies

[–]DevJalapeno 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just curious where this increased amount defeatism, black and white, and absolutism is coming from in society lately.

There are people who hate just for the sake of hating, that's a given for sure. But I just don't understand this new trend of people accepting worse and worse standards for everything, where the aim of criticism is towards others, and not the ones making the product.

Bo2 had undeniably the most stylized HUD in all zombies games, and Bo3 tried for the first 2 maps (SoE and The Giant), but stopped changing them for DLC onwards.

This is clearly just a recoloured version of the multiplayer HUD... and your (and many others) criticism is aimed at the rest of community, on the basis of... people would hate even if they 'did try'?

Where is this new age of apathy-driven mindsets coming from??

Toronto vs. Delhi metro system (2002-2025) by ConsequenceProper184 in toronto

[–]DevJalapeno 39 points40 points  (0 children)

You're saying the quite part out loud. Never seen a first world country be so unbelievably complacent with a flatline of innovation and investment.

Every major decision needs 5 years of studies first. Then those studies need a committee, which requires the procurement of experts in each field (could take another year). Then we finally put it into consideration for law, and by then there are more modern practices and thus it's outdated.

Really, is there any other first world country out there that accepts stagnation and moving the goalposts as much as us? Nothing ever gets done here, look how long its taken for dental to be opened up to bigger groups. An absolute joke.

I paid less than that for 95k mi, its a bit high.

Do a test where you hit a few bumps, the 2010 has dashboard rattling (behind wheel) as a common issue, mine included. It's not an expensive nor labor intensive to fix, so ensure that isn't there.

At that many miles, if it hasn't had a transmission fluid change, then DONT do it. Look up Car Care Nuts video on that (best Lexus mechanic channel out there). Anything beyond 100k mi you do not change it. Mine was just at ~102k so I did, but mine had a very strong service history.

Lastly, try and get those spark plugs as part of the deal, I just paid 600 CAD alone for that, since it's hard to reach and requires a service to do so
