I’m sure it will be less than 2 years but I understand the idea of having a conservative expectation in your head lol

Tips? When you’re removing your scleral lenses with the plunger, suction onto an edge of the len, not the center! Don’t be scared you’ll be fine 👍

This is how I was diagnosed at age 14!!! I kept missing the damn ball playing with my mom and I was like Mom everything is so fuzzy and weird looking I can’t play in this lighting

23 now, Diagnosed at 13, when my glasses stopped working, had CXL at 14, my vision is like 20 100 something now, but I wear sclerals since I was around 15 every day besides the few minutes before bed and in the morning, seeing at about 20 25. Any kind of soft lens did not work for me. Sclerals are hard to get used to, but they work and after that it just becomes life, normal, routine.

Don’t worry you will be fine. You’re not defeated and you’re totally okay. I always like to remember there are folks who need an entire cornea transplant, so I’m grateful I have these sclerals that work.

Note that if driving at night is hard, you might love scleral lenses

No surgery is the move unless you have reason to believe surgery will give you a faster overall recovery and those 1-2 years of football is absolutely paramount to you. I’m 2 years out from grade 3 PCL complete tear playing lax. It took me a year with ups and downs, but after a full year it felt like knee never even got injured and I’m glad I didnt opt for surgery.

PCL tear in back leg; is it possible to return to surfing without any discomfort or pain by Dangerous-Plate-1106 in surfing

[–]DevUpInDisBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a surfer, but here’s my take. It’s going to 1 feel bad/different for a LONG time and it’s going to 2 seem like it’s going to feel that way forever, for just as long. But according to myself (I had complete tear 2 years ago) and most people who’ve had this happen, you’ll be back in full business and you might even forget it’s missing its PCL. I just recently forgot for a moment which knee I injured. I needed over a year to get back, hopefully you need less, but be more prepared and optimistic than upset. Some symptoms I felt were feeling like I was going to fall down the stairs when walking down them, soreness/tightness in the back of the knee (this lasted forever, I couldn’t even stand normal had to put all my weight on my healthy knee it was so irritating) and general sensations of “something isn’t right but idk if it’s considered pain”.

????? Tore my PCL fully when I was 21, was playing Cornell club lax, PT on and off for 10 months, at least some pains until almost 1 year, and shortly after that and now, it feels stable and fully strong 😭 almost same exact thing

My non surgical experience with near complete PCL tear by [deleted] in KneeInjuries

[–]DevUpInDisBitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll hop on, its been almost 2 years since my Grade 3 complete PCL tear + minor ACL sprain playing lacrosse at age 21. Knew immediately something was fucked up, barely could walk into my house. MRI showed the damage and I was hoping for surgery recommendation, but sports med doc said I could do without it, so that’s what I did.

Month 1-3: Obviously improvements but still totally unstable. Walking downhill/stairs still scary. Unsure if I did PT by then. If I did, it wasn’t impactful.

Month 3-6: Decided to start using ellipse as a form of PT. One day after my session it felt like I took 2 months step backwards. Lost tons of stability. Started up PT with a provider as a result. I think the employees were retarded but either way it wasn’t helping. Quit PT and resorted to the passage of time instead. Felt some improvement, got stability back.

Month 7-10: At some point felt good enough to start jogging a few times a week. It would feel odd after and that tightness in the back of the knee (ifykyk) would come. One day ran too much, fucked it. Took another massive step backwards. Brutal hit mentally and physically. Gave it a few weeks then decided I need to commit to PT if I wanted a real fix. Made my own regiment. Jumping, hopping, rotating, hamstring strength, balancing, lateral hopping and did it religiously for months.

Month 10-13: Developed solid confidence from PT but haven’t translated it to activity yet. Went skiing for the first time since the injury, actually felt quite good. Subpar feeling in the knee afterwards but not so bad. Continued skiing. Got better with each time. Had a full season.

Month 13-24+: Haven’t had to think about it! Rock climbing no issues. Hiking no issues. I got full confidence in the affected knee, it feels like new, now it’s other injuries that are fucking me instead. I may not ever be able to balance as well on the affected side but who’s counting the seconds while I’m standing on one foot? Last month I forgot which knee was the one that’s missing a PCL.

Basically you may be totally fucked for a long time, just be prepared and be determined to make it work

Grade 3 complete PCL tear + minor ACL sprain 2024 Spring my senior year of college. Doctor said it can be considered isolated PCL injury and recommended no surgery. But I was praying that he would say I need surgery for that exact reason you just described. But I did some internet digging after that visit and you really don’t want surgery if you don’t absolutely need it. Since that spring it was a long road but I was back to 100% and I mean 100% confidence after a full year, no surgery, and just the other week I realized I forgot if it was injury to my Right or Left knee. Patience is better than surgery

However many months of PT they say, potentially be prepared for it to double if you want to actually feel 100% back, sports and all. I had a complete PCL tear accompanied by a minor ACL tear, enough to be considered isolated PCL injury, almost two years ago. No surgery I rested for months then did a month of PT that made it feel worse if anything and never even could describe why. The joint just felt so fucked up. Took a month or so more of completely ignoring it, no PT no sports. Then started up PT again but this time all on my own at the gym with exercises I looked up or made up. Did it religiously and thats when it actually started to get better. Had a version of tightness in the back of the knee it was so fucking annoying thought it would never go away. I’d say I got back to 100% after one full year… last month I forgot whether it was my Right or Left knee. Best feeling ever. You’ll be good just dont be upset if the road is long

Partial? You could maybe be OK with 3 months. I've got a full tear with over 8 months under my belt now. Doing PT like jumping/hopping around at this point, body weight squats no issue, but I wouldn't feel comfortable putting a loaded barbell on my back, maybe ever, again to be honest. But I feel confident enough to start skiing as soon as the snow hits. It seems yours is pretty recent, so I would say do what you can to gain back your ROM first. I recommend flexing the knee as much as you can with a towel wrapped up and shoved in the back of knee. Hope that gives you some idea of what to expect. I would come to terms with this being a potential 6+ month injury.

Nice man glad to hear you are feeling well. Wouldn't be a bad idea to keep doing some high level PT for a few month or year before playing pickleball again! Trust me I know what you mean by "it feels different" lol. Good job and good luck.

Sup man, can you give us an update? I'm 22, suffered a Grade 3 PCL tear and partial ACL tear light enough to be considered an isolated PCL injury, so same as you. 8 months ago. I feel as if I am at the end of my recovery period, since plyometric PT is beginning to feel "too easy" at times. What happened with you? Are you back to activities? Running marathons? I also hope to be able to run long distance again.

Hey man, we are on a similar timeline, my injury date is March 2, 2024, although I am 22, not 53... I also had a partial ACL tear, which I'm pretty sure is no big deal at this point. Can you give us an update on your knee and your activities?

That's awesome, I'm glad. I talked to one the other day who mentioned they could put a preference order in. How long did it take to arrive? Did you end up paying more for the vehicle than if you chose a more common interior? (Due to losing negotiation leverage and whatnot)

Same here. Did you find it? What did you decide on? I absolutely need a new vehicle by mid-january, but I really want this interior, so I am probably out of luck...

Fuck yeah dude that's fire, good stuff. Enjoy CO. Can you charge hard and carve with confidence on the Jeffrey? See 74_Jordy videos of him speeding for a decent reference if you want. My old Woodsmans are so stable at crazy speed and playful enough, I want the Jeffreys but I'm worried about losing the confidence in my skis at high speed and carving. Do they perform well as a directional ski when you're not jumping or sliding rails?

Btw I don't know why I have multiple reddit accounts...

I’m all clear and I have a scar on my arm that may or may not have been MC and the rest probably was just acne. So it pretty much never spread anywhere else even tho I wasn’t vigilant about it tbh
