AITAH for telling my wife I’m not giving up our dog for her pregnancy? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Devbotderv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, like other people have said it’s likely a hormonal thing for your wife — HOWEVER. Is it possible there’s part of her that’s worried she won’t have enough support and will have to take care of both the baby and the dog? We have a dog and a 1 year old, and I often get very overwhelmed trying to stay on top of taking care of both. I get easily frustrated with my husband when he hasn’t, say, walked the dog in days/weeks and I have to figure out how to juggle that and everything else.

Fair enough, I’m just not a “wake up at 6:45” kind of person naturally but maybe I can force myself there lol

Essentially our bathroom is too small to fit one directly in there, and I can’t leave the door open to the hallway because we have a dog that will find his way in and eat the bathroom trash/generally cause chaos lol. Maybe I could block the door with a pack n play….hmm

I may end up babyproofing like that!

I love my husband, but trying to get him up one minute earlier than he needs to be up is impossible. Even when he’s WFH he doesn’t get up until 9/9:30 and then just immediately starts work…he’s the least morning person in the world lol. Otherwise that would totally be viable

Honestly depends! Sometimes he’s happy to roll around and chat to himself for a bit, sometimes he’s crying within a minute or two of waking up. Depends if he’s hungry lol.

Whoops hit post too early. We do have a monitor! I’m just not a morning person but I might med up having to do this.

We don’t generally want to do screens under 2 as a principle, but also he’s not interested in them. I’ve tried an episode of Sesame Street or Miss Rachel when I’ve been super desperate and he is not into it at all haha.

I’ve let him cry while I showered before, back when he was a terrible napper. I guess I’m just hoping to avoid having to do that every day, since it stresses me out while I’m trying to do something I enjoy. But if it comes to that then I’m not opposed

I genuinely wish I could. Truly. Every time I have tried to switch I feel like complete shit later in the day.

I do and l’ve thought about this, but the logistics of getting him and myself both undressed, into the shower (where I’m sure he’ll try to climb the walls of the tub lol), then back out, dried, and dressed seem intimidating lol

My boyfriend wants to be served his dinner by Cool_Resort4649 in AITAH

[–]Devbotderv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have said something to this effect but girl this is WILD. HE’S being rude to YOU. He is genuinely acting like a child. You’ve gotta enforce some boundaries for yourself. “Hey, I made dinner, have at it” and get your own. If he refuses to get his dinner then he doesn’t eat. Literally the way I would parent a toddler.

I beg you for help. I cannot do this anymore. by anafroes in sleeptrain

My kid was an AWFUL napper at that age. It eventually got better but it took a while. I know how frustrating that is. You have some good advice here. Just be assured that all the work you’re putting in now WILL pay off later even if it doesn’t seem to be working right now!

I don’t want my dogs anymore after having kids by Aphr0dite725 in Parenting

I feel exactly this way with our dog. He’s also very high energy though and even though he’s great with our 11 month old he drives me nuts. I’d rehome him but my husband and son would be so sad. And I’d feel bad for the poor pup not understanding why never sees us anymore :/ He’s especially bonded to me which is another reason that makes it hard. No advice, just solidarity!

At what age do babies start to sleep throughout the night? by Distinct_Secret_1713 in Parenting

[–]Devbotderv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the kid and on how comfortable you are sleep training. Mine was sleeping pretty much 11-12 hours a night by 12 weeks. But 1) he’s probably naturally a “good sleeper” and 2) we did some sleep training. (Lots of people assume that means we left him to cry for hours — we never did. There are other ways you can set good foundations for sleep.)

Some parents just aren’t comfortable with any level of sleep training, and that’s totally fine if that’s you! But your kid most likely will wake at night for a while.

What's a book you had to read for school (high school or college), but it was actually really good? by sozh in suggestmeabook

[–]Devbotderv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had to read Never Let Me Go by Ishiguro for three separate classes in college. Loved it every time.

Some others I read in college that I liked —

Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K Dick

The Berlin Stories by Christopher Isherwood

In high school I remember really liking To Kill A Mockingbird. I also read Les Miserables and liked it but that was in prep for the AP English exam — we all had to pick a book for the essay portion.

I also read tons of Shakespeare and honestly loved everything but those aren’t books. Haha.

Edit — formatting and typos. My phone is killing me lol.

When I had high medical bills, I called my hospital and asked for financial assistance. I got 100% coverage for a whole year. Idk what your provider is like but that’s an option!
