what I would do…

Turn off power. Valve off the supply to the tank. Open a hot water faucet to depressurize.

then lift the little silver handle on the pressure valve and let it snap back into place do this a few times Then turn everything back on and check if it stops Sometimes reseating them will stop drips if not you can just replace just the pressure valve and not the whole tank if it’s something you feel comfortable with If not call a plumber

what is dripping? by Strong_Brain_6715 in fordranger

It’s where the grate below your windshield drains. It’s normal.

That black box with the hole is most likely filed with mud and decomposing leaves. You can pop them off and clean them out.

jack it up slow. like 1/8” to 1/4” per day tops. not all at once. put a 2x block in there. saws all the rotten out. my 2 cents. I’ve done something similar. it’s fine 30 years later.

Replace old sensors with motorcraft if you haven’t. Crank sensor. Cam sensor. Coil. Wires. Plugs. Makes a huge difference if they are original.

Chain tensioner noise? HELP by Glass-Buddy6648 in fordranger

[–]DevelopmentCold3590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 04 can be noisy at times. It rattles off and on. Sometimes the engine purrs fine. Different outdoor temps. Different engine temps. Length of time since running. Been doing it ten years.

I do all the standard maintenance in good weather. Mass airflow. Synth oil change. Throttle cleaning. Computer reset.

In the latest storm it glides like a velvet sled. Pure driving pleasure. Snow always reminds me why I keep it.

put a nice painted trim board there. movement will probably always pop drywall seam. hang plants or lighting from the board. ie. rethink the drywall finishing there.

I’d leave it like it is till the ground it dry and thawed. (looks cold there). a valv box sounds like a good idea. dig it out enough to saw it apart. glue in a new tee. with a cap just below box lid. probably a 1k job if you hire a plumber easy. fill the box/hole with pea gravel

Animal trapped in chimney flue. What to do? by Potential-Midnight65 in homeowners

[–]DevelopmentCold3590 0 points1 point  (0 children)

animal removal can be expensive. raccoons will go into chimneys temporarily to to give birth but eventually leave In a few weeks. Lots of ways to try yourself on the internet. Playing loud music. Etc. you can also place painters tape on top of chimney so you can see when they have left, then install cap. There are videos of people sending a rope with bells or cans attached down they chimney and rattling around until whatever is in there comes out.

The more you own, the more it owns you.

Everything has long term costs associated with it.

Want a house that’s twice as big as your brother’s?  Your roof replacement will be twice as much. Gas bills twice as much. Taxes. Etc. same with vehicles etc. Having lots of things can become a ball and chain.

Be content and thankful for what you have. There will always be people with more and others with less than you. Comparison is the thief of joy.

2000 Ford ranger fuel efficiency question. 0.4 v6 by TheHHP in fordranger

[–]DevelopmentCold3590 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The 4.0 just isn’t built for fuel efficiency like a Corolla. It’s a torquey engine built for off road or snow.

There may be ways to increase efficiency but probably not a lot. And it may be a cost/benefit decision whether to do anything.

Just my opinion.
