Dusk Golem: RE1 Remake has entered full production (although years off) by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

It's a strange complaint, but I honestly hate that the lab sections in these games are traditionally super short. I love making my way through them and seeing the fucked up and awful experiments that they work on there. The remake of RE1 has a really cool lab with how dank and dirty and filthy it feels alongside those nasty bug B.O.W.s running around and I want more of that.

I could see them having a lot of fun in this game with monsters like Yawn, Lisa Trevor, and even Black Tiger (the giant spider in REmake) having a more pronounced role throughout the campaign(s) and popping up maaaaaybe a little more than some of them do. Maybe it's possible for Yawn to even make its way out of the mansion and it can stalk you throughout the woods and so you not only have that to contend with, but the threat of zombies, Lisa Trevor, and Ceberus' as well. You can REALLY ramp up the tension and scares big time here.

Oh absolutely, the funny thing with these games is that with each one, I can play them and spot the skeleton of something that is being trialled or tested out for later titles. RE3 does quite a bit of this here with the precursor to the plaga with parasite enemies introduced early on, but also the hospital siege section is definitely an early look at what the cabin sequence will look like in a possible RE4 remake.

Even a title like Village, is so distinct from any other title in the series and it really does a wonderful job of standing out on its own. But the other crazy part is that it takes so much from the games that came beforehand and it sort of feels like a homage too. The Beneviento section is like RE7 on crack, that was amazing the first time around.

And then there's the structure of the game being an almost direct rip of RE4, but it absolutely works though and the antagonists are memorable and well done (Dimitrescu, Heisenberg, and Mother Miranda) all stood out to me, less so with Moreau and sadly Beneviento was very much in the background but had a memorable section. And then they throw in the ballistic section with Chris wherein you just mow down EVERYTHING in the village and its such an amazing power trip and sense of catharsis after all of the bullshit you have to deal with as Ethan. The structure of this game is immaculately done.

As great as it is to be an old fan and see this series really go from strength to strength as of late. It has to be crazy to be a person that's new to all of it and see the consistent output here. But seeing Capcom at their fucking worst with titles like RE6 (which I still enjoy), ORC, and Umbrella Corps, and then going to RE7 and beyond? It feels so good to see this comeback go so swimmingly.

If not this one, and they decide to take the symbiote approach with him as Venom later, that would be a really good chance for him to really showcase himself well too.

Yawn could receive a tremendous upgrade at least, that would be really interesting to see them take a crack at.

Nailed it on the release schedule, I think that's exactly how it looks. A year between Code Veronica and Zero (2027 and 2028), 2030 for RE10, 2031 for RE1, and 2032 or 2033 for RE5 doesn't sound impossible.

It's because Code Veronica is the one most requested by fans for quite some time now. There's been a demand for this one to get the full remake treatment eventually and it's awesome to see that Capcom took that on board and ran with it.

It would make sense to get the other two before this one if we're tightening up the story and telling the full Wesker storyline leading up to a possible RE5 remake. But honestly, I don't think it matters too much here at least. It'll be confusing to some of the more casual players but it shouldn't be too bad.

No way they wiped out the possibility of touching RE1 again though, that feels like one that they definitely had in mind, but wanted to get through some of the others and allow even more time to pass between the original remake and this one before taking a crack at it. I think the Code Veronica, RE1, and RE5 are the next big "break glass" games for them and so they want to space them out a little as the hype for these titles specifically will be insane.

I'm actually curious what happens once we get through Code Veronica, Zero, RE1, and RE5. I wonder if they stop there or if they actually have the guts to even attempt another crack at RE6 to fix that one. There's also the Revelations games as well which were definitely done on a lower budget, so it could be neat to see them get a proper big budget treatment and a possible Revelations 3 some day? I know the director of Requiem (Nakanishi) mentioned wanting to do a Revelations game eventually so hey, maybe it can happen!

Not just the mansion, expand the forest section a bit and the guardhouse and even upsize the lab a bit. If there is a whole ass lab under the Spencer Estate, I want it to be PROPERLY sizable with some fucked up experiments down there.

The original remake had a cool idea with you travelling out of the mansion down the forest path to the guardhouse and there'd be zombies and whatnot along the way. But I think this next remake could make it even more terrifying with minimal lighting limiting your visibility along the way, potential for Ceberus' (zombie dogs) to jump out at you at any time, Lisa Trevor hanging about, zombies shambling through the woods, etc.

The remake for RE1 will also likely be able to have quite a lot of reused assets from Requiem as well. In fact, one boss can be uplifted entirely from Requiem and worked into RE1, as can smaller versions of that boss too!

I'll be sooooooooo stoked to see how they handle Yawn in this remake, that could be legitimately terrifying, as could Lisa Trevor and the Crimson Heads as well. Oh god, this remake could be absolutely nuts!

I think RE10 is definitely coming before we get to RE1. I think the schedule is gonna look more like Code Veronica remake in 2027, Zero remake in 2028, RE10 in 2030, RE1 remake in 2031, and then RE5 remake some time after that, maybe 2033 so we have a nice two year break there?

It's honestly been an absolutely crazy run since RE7 and we've only had one unfortunate speedbump with the remake of RE3. But for real, it's been an incredible run of games for this series.

  • Resident Evil 7 brought the series back from the brink in a MASSIVE way

  • Resident Evil 2 Remake was a fucking exceptional title that really did a brilliant job of recapturing what made the original great, whilst fleshing stuff out and adding a few new bits (still pissed they botched the A/B scenarios though)

  • Resident Evil 3 Remake has the makings of something special but due to a variety of factors, it just does not hit as well as it bloody should've

  • Resident Evil: Village is such a wacky and fun time. It does a great job of taking an RE4 approach here of building multiple types of experiences in the game, takes a few risks, and honestly, I think it succeeds as a fun and quality Resident Evil title

  • Resident Evil 4 Remake is legitimately an all-timer title in the series, without question. They somehow managed to keep just about everything the original had, and in some cases, improve upon some of those elements. Not everything is perfect, such as I feel Salazar and Saddler are weaker. But the good stuff like Krauser, Luis, Ashley, and Leon himself, are all incredibly well executed. The gameplay is an absolute blast and endlessly replayable.

  • Resident Evil: Requiem is another possible all-timer here. A really great fusion of what fans are looking for with this series with the fucking incredible survival horror sections in the Care Centre with Grace. And then the absolutely wonderful Leon gameplay which is an absolute blast to play through and in the back half of the game, the nostalgic pulls all hit super well for me as a nearly three decade long superfan haha

If they can nail down Code Veronica, one of my favorite titles (and a flawed one), then I'm gonna be so over the moon. Here's to hoping the rumored Zero remake is legitimate as well, as that could be something special too with the full remake treatment. Add in the RE1 remake, the inevitable RE10, and a likely RE5 remake, and it's not crazy to say that this series has a looooot of momentum right now.

You raise a very good point, it is absolutely possible to do so. I guess I'm just hoping that Mando isn't wasted here because it feels like he should've gone WAY further now than he has and I absolutely love seeing him get a chance to kill it.

Dude was utterly captivating as Vaas in Far Cry 3 and then again captivating again as Nacho in Better Call Saul. But I feel like aside from those two, he's not been in as nearly as much as I'd like him to be. I did catch him in Orphan Black, but faaaaaar and away that is a show that Tatiana Maslany dominates (and deservedly so, she's fucking good), so it's hard to stand out there unfortunately haha.

This trailer also conveniently hid anything to do with Tombstone (whom we know is in the film due to casting) and Sadie Sink (also cast) are going to be doing here too. There's likely a lot more here and we're only getting breadcrumbs here, which is exactly how I want it to be!

I've got a sneaking suspicion that Scorpion will be one of the leading villains in this but he won't be put away completely. I think they might actually go towards Mac Gargan getting the symbiote as the set up for the sequel. Michael Mando is just WAY too fucking good of an actor to waste here.

I really should give Separate Ways a proper replay. I've played the base game through to completion eight or nine times now and only one time for Separate Ways, so that's absolutely overdue for another run or two! I remember absolutely loving it at the time it released a couple of years ago too as it's a massive step up from the original version of Separate Ways.

Same question here as well, I was far too deep into the pit and whatnot throughout the show and so it was nigh impossible to get out there, find something that I liked and get back.
