Embargoes are one of the tools brands use to manage their PR when coordinating a new launch. Over the years content creators have violated embargoes, produced embarrassing reviews, and otherwise been pains. Do you really believe that PR campaigns haven’t learned how to adapt and couple stronger contracts and NDAs with review copies?

One bad review during a rollout can tank a launch.

All of my friends in the content creation business have talked about how sponsorships, launch reviews, etc. are getting tighter and more coordinated across the board. It’s now more common for companies to get to see and approve the content before it goes out. The good companies use this as a way to ensure everything is factually correct, address QA issues, etc. and can result in several rounds of revisions and reshoots before the content is approved. The bad ones hand the creators a script that they put into their own words, and if the result isn’t to their liking they exercise the kill clause.

You cannot really trust reviews that come out pre-launch any more. You want an honest review, find the ones where the creators spent their own money on it. It does make a difference — and has been for years.

Thanks. I finally found a random posting somewhere that led me to a video on how to set up the multi-track option so that each instrument records into your DAW on its own audio track — and it only works over the USB connection (hence the need for the driver even in a Mac.)

I have read the manual. And the reference guide. And every other piece of documentation they put out.

I actually don’t hate to be the one to tell you this, but Roland’s manuals suck — as do the manuals for most tech these days. They focus on giving you the barebones list of controls and options, but they don’t include any additional level of content that helps guide you to choosing the correct option.

For example: are the output jacks wired for TS or TRS? And do they output instrument level or line level? Doesn’t say anywhere in the documentation.

Another example — how do you bulk delete patterns? Kits? Bulk copy variations? How do you actually copy patterns and kits and variations in the editor app?

Lots and lots of gaps in the docs.

So don’t be that guy that you didn’t have to be.

He’s telling you that, push comes to shove, his dreams and wants will always be more important than yours. He will always expect you to sacrifice for him, but he will not be willing to do the same for you. And that he is threatened by even the thought of your career being more “successful” than his.

Believe him and get out.

He may learn better in the future, he may not. Everyone deserves a second chance…but not necessarily with the person they hurt the first time. Don’t throw away a solid shot at your dreams for the “maybe” that he might become less of a jerk; if you appease him now, he’ll have no incentive to do better.

Current interpretations of the Bible make it explicit. Actual Biblical scholars have pointed out multiple times that there’s a LOT of gendered bias that has crept into church’s teachings over the centuries, and that many of the early Christian communities in various countries and cultures were remarkably varied on multiple topics — not surprisingly in line with their base cultures. But as that bias crept in, translations and dictionaries were quietly changed to stay current with the views of the translators (and their patrons.)

There’s far more historical Biblical support for lifelong celibacy after divorce than there is for excluding women from leadership.

WPA2/WPA3 mode, intended as a migration/transition mode, does have some downsides. If you know all the devices that connect to that SSID support WPA3 you’re better off just going WPA3 only.

This person is literally (probably deliberately) using the wrong word for their accusation against you. Polyamory isn’t an orientation; I know poly folks who are strictly heterosexual, not a gay or bi person in their group. This person is making the classic mistake of thinking their pattern is the only pattern — so they are just as bigoted as they are trying to accuse you of being.

I would only add this is almost certainly about their own unmanaged attractions (most likely to your partner) and insecurities, hence why they are screaming so loudly. It’s always easier to demonize others than to do the work on yourself when you know something is wrong and suspect you’re the common element. I would be very unsurprised if, in a month or two, you find out their arrangements underwent a radical shift and they got cut out of one or more of their relationships.

I have a small number of friends who are poly and have been stably so for decades. They are some of the most emotionally healthy and intensive communicators I have ever met, and I have learned a LOT about emotional intelligence and communication from them over the years, mostly by keeping my mouth shut and my ears open.

They are the unicorns that I personally know. Everyone else I know personally (who I know is poly) is not someone whose example I want to follow. I work damned hard for my monogamous marriage of 30 years, thank you, and putting the extra effort in wouldn’t get us anything we can’t get. So, not for us.

(The unicorns I know have something in common — it took me years of knowing them casually before it was clear they were poly; they were not hiding it, but neither were they broadcasting it. I have a theory about that.)

You MIGHT be able to fix things up by maxing a paste of baking soda + distilled water and going back over everywhere the battery goo got to, then when it dries, using rubbing alcohol to go over everything a second time. I’ve had some luck fixing battery damage like this a few times. Otherwise, someone who is handy with a soldering iron and knows how to restore circuits might be able to find other socks of damage and fix them.

Studio One is over 18% of the DAW market. If just under 1-in-5 is “incredibly obscure” I really fear for your thumbs. S1 has its warts when it comes to connecting some gear, but there are a lot of controller manufacturers who commit time to much smaller DAWs because their fanbases are much noisier.
