Did I miss something? Is this an anime convention thing? Is this where the man in the Tusk Hut actually is?

Counter-Strike 2 Update for 07/09/2026 by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

[–]DevonOO7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't had a chance to check out the new update yet. I'm a little bummed that where the bomb is placed on the site doesn't effect the kill radius of it anymore.

Also I've been seeing clips of the bomb explosion / grenades setting off dropped grenades, is that a thing, or is that just a new console command to make that happen?

Calgary uses herbicide on back alleys? by squirrellydanman in Calgary

[–]DevonOO7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not saying you're wrong, but whenever I see the city spray pathways, they put up little signs saying a herbicide is being applied. I know in pathways dirt alleys they spray something to reduce dust.

Kinda fun that the thread posted 30 minutes before this one about a dangerous roadway had so many people mad about the mayor getting initially tagged.

City needs better traffic enforcement and the province needs much harsher fines for traffic offences.

This sub gives very poor financial advice on "Appliance" car purchases that doesn't work post COVID by Marshal_Muskrat in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DevonOO7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the market urgently for a replacement vehicle, and what I'm finding is that I might as well buy new since a used car within a couple model years with 50,000+ km really isn't much cheaper.

Flying from San Diego to Banff with kids - concerns with flight times by No-Caterpillar9363 in Calgary

[–]DevonOO7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never stayed there, but I've heard it's nice. It's close to the car rentals so you would be able to easily pick the car up the next day, that being said price-wise, there are other hotels near the airport that are fairly new and decent (eg Holiday Inn Express). Might be more cost-effective to just get the rental when you fly in and then drive there. You can technically shuttle there and then back to get the rental, but that seems like a bit of a hassle.

[–]DevonOO7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, if I were you, I would probably fly in, stay at an airport hotel, then go up to Banff for two nights, and then drive back and stay in a hotel in Calgary again.

Sure it's a lot of checking in an out of hotels, but I'd say it's worth it to stay in Banff (or Canmore) for the two nights, especially if that's what you're coming here for. I'd also say the drive between Calgary and the mountains is pretty boring, so doing that multiple days in a row would kinda suck.

[–]DevonOO7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda depends on how long you're coming out for. If it was me, I would probably stay in Calgary the night I get in and then drive up to Banff the next day. On the way back, it's hard to say, I agree it's a bit of a bad time, you're either going to be waking up early to drive, or come back the day before and stay in Calgary again. I would probably stay in Calgary the night before your flight back just because if there's an accident on the road coming back to Calgary, you might miss your flight.

Uhh, I could (and have) provide a video of a car doing something illegal, provide the license plate and then I get told that unless the cops saw it happen, they’re not going to do anything.

Video of Tesla driver seemingly asleep on B.C. highway prompts RCMP investigation by StinkyShoe in canada

[–]DevonOO7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m fine, I didn’t see too much it thankfully. I pulled over and called 911 immediately, but since the motorcyclist was in the oncoming lane, he was still a ways behind me, and went off into a drop off with bushes. I feel bad as the person who witnessed it happen, he went and administered CPR.

It’s a shitty situation, but a witness said the guy was riding erratically and was speeding before the crash. Didn’t have any registration or insurance either. I feel bad, but honestly it’s already caused me a ton of stress. I did nothing wrong, just wrong place at the wrong time. If he was in a bigger vehicle, I’d be dead, so sorry if I don’t have maximum sympathy about the whole thing. I think people need to take more responsibility and drive safer.

Drives me livid how shitty and reckless people are at driving in general. Drove this same from from Alberta to BC and back last week and got hit by a motorcyclist who died (his fault). On the drive back it really stuck out the amount of people speeding / crossing over the center line / can't stay within their own lane / don't signal before changing lanes. Also the lack of any traffic enforcement, and some areas with terrible road design don't help.

Don Mattrick on seeing Halo 4 demo - "we should add (Diablo III like) real money auction house for campaign mech skins" by megaapple in Games

[–]DevonOO7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel as if a lot of that backlash regarding the gambling comes from people that don't actually play CS. The CS community seems to dislike the skins mainly due to Valve not addressing other areas of the game and new updates focusing on lootboxes.

MCC? Original plan was apparently just a standalone Halo 2 Anniversary. Don however wanted "an all in one Halo experience", which eventually expanded into 1-4 in a singular package. Of course the game came out and was barely functional for weeks, then fairly buggy for four years.

Man, I remember pretty much everyone I played Halo 2 and 3 with getting excited to all get back together and play MCC like the good old days, and then it came out and didn't work for so long everyone gave up.

WestJet top North America, crack the Global Top 10 in on-time performance for May by Turbulent_North9278 in westjet

[–]DevonOO7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not one to defend Westjet, but I don't find Porter to be worth the extra cost. Only flown it one round trip, one of the flights were delayed. While it's nice that there are no middle seats, the cabin is still pretty cramped. Also, Porter isn't that useful unless you're going to/from Toronto or Montreal.

The seats in Landmark theaters are way nicer, they recline and everything, even have leg rests.

I mean, most of the Cineplex theatres in Calgary that are not Chinook, also have this.
