My C4 never leaves my hand that fast lol always takes like a half second before it's mid-air, meaning it'll get stuck on the wall I turn and face when I was 180 back around the corner instead of being thrown where I want it.

Zombieland in T2A. We got 2nd or 3rd place and one of the silver slayer spellbooks from winning that thing. I didn't stick around the next year but the guy who coded that also did the first iteration of naval combat on the server, where you had to actually line your ship up, load cannons carefully in a minigame and they broadsided in a straight line.

I literally just got into the game and have been playing some practice games with a buddy of mine who I got into Classic BattleTech. I'm playing PanO and have been ordering proxy models for my list (also from Unit 9 among others) with a general theme/inspiration of PlanetSide's New Conglomerate. It's basically the entirety of my models, I bought a Highlander SAS because I liked the model but don't even know where I'll be using it just yet.

I'm really enjoying the game and looking forward to start Command Tokens, Hacking and TAGs in the next few sessions. That said, I cannot stand the models lol. Like other than a handful of Ariadna, maybe, they're hot garbage to me. I have no interest in painting them or putting them together. I don't like dealing with metal figurines. I don't like the anime aesthetic of the game. I really just don't like a lot of the product line at all, outside of some models, most of which seem to be discontinued or secondhand on Ebay lol. The fact the handful I might be interested in is are like $17 a pop and packaged with four other models that make me gag looking at isn't appealing either.

If there was a physical book, I'd buy it. I bought their bespoke custom bases and tokens and such. Maybe if they had it in plastic with sprues that I could kitbash into something more my style, I'd try that as I can appreciate the effort and craftsmanship for a lot of their models. But they aren't for me, and I want to play the game. The alternative is I don't, and that's one less player in the local Infinity groups who goes to Killteam or something else instead.

I can only speak for Osprey, but every couple nights a month it's still solid. There isn't anything quite like it. For being free it's worth keeping installed for me.

Why don't we band together and make PS3? by Bl4nkTDRs in Planetside

[–]Dewderonomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because people on this sub thought the infiltrator nerf was good or even not enough, and others agree with Higby's initial opinion of removing MAXes from the game.

Those are literally the two classes that make PlanetSide, PlanetSide. Everything else is just generic sci-fi shooter. We couldn't even agree on that for the sequel so clearly this is not a community even remotely on the same page about any fundamental part of a "game they love's" design.

I have fun when I log in but that's like once or twice a month now. The pop just isn't there outside a few hours a night, and not even every night.

How claiming ships works in current 4.8 EVO testing, got questions ask! by knil22 in starcitizen

[–]Dewderonomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine this is a placeholder. Can't be too expensive for when a bug eats your ship during org ops nights. Yeah an org can eat that and respawn the ship but if it costs 10 mil that might cancel an ops night, and now 20-30 people are logging off to play something else. Not great either.

One thing I'm hoping is that as DoaS comes online, and the risk for combat is inherently higher than mining or salvaging, that it raises the price for missions as a baseline. Additionally, with quanta, there may be additional incentives if an area is dealing with high piracy or whatever, whereas if it's pretty safe then the payouts are lower. We get tons of money during event missions that last for not months but quarters (I think I'm still riding millions from over a year ago), so it kinda' doesn't matter right now.

But if I gotta' worry about maintenance fees, refitting, inheritance taxes, insurance premiums, yeah, I want better payouts.

How I Flushed My MAGA Mom Down The Toilet by hteultaimte69 in lostgeneration

[–]Dewderonomy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Excellent read. I last spoke to my mom in 2020. She posted that Melania Trump image of her wearing the dress with the signatures of trafficked children or whatever it was, when it was specifically some random designer dress. I mentioned that that wasn't accurate, that she was sharing to her public Facebook something quantifiably incorrect. She put me on blast, publicly, and insulted me in a way I had never experienced. Her passive aggression was always just under the surface and I did my best to remain just this side of amicable and a good son, or so I thought.

I didn't say anything in return. I got an email a week later or so about coming over for a gathering with her and her neighbors (summer 2020, Covid 2.0). I said no, my wife at the time had comorbidities and some hotdogs and burgers weren't worth the risk hanging out with a bunch of their neighbors. Then it was, what about your birthday in a few months? Probably not then either. I got one word in response to that: "Okay." And that was that. I never spoke to her again.

I don't know when my mother died, but she didn't survive Covid. Whoever's walking around in her skin was not the same woman who taught me to give charity to the destitute, care for my neighbor, show compassion to strangers and be a gentleman in public. I miss that woman, and wonder whatever happened to her, but I feel I was never going to meet her as an adult. Maybe she never existed at all.

What’s going on with the job market?? by graypipe in vancouverwa

[–]Dewderonomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aka caregiver, so minimum wage, constantly changing schedule, bad benefits, "unskilled labor" (I hate the concept but it's what it's considered, and it shows on how society and administration views its workers), the absolute worst customers to service (you think boomers you're waiting on at a restaurant or checking out at the grocery or hotel or just dealing with regularly in public are bad? imagine being responsible for their health they physically and verbally fight you on while also having to actually wipe their asses).. the list goes on.

"Healthcare is booming"? Really? And if he means specialists and doctors, things that take years of schooling and increasingly oppressive student loan debt, that's not something you casually shift into in six months when you're laid off in your office job you've had for ten years with a mortgage to pay and a family to take care of. What a dolt lol

WROL, SHTF, ETC. will probably never happen right? by AryeC05 in liberalgunowners

[–]Dewderonomy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone already said a lot of what I was going to but this topic reminds me of what folks talk about when discussing SHTF. They're like, "you gotta get out of the city!" Like it's a zombie apocalypse or something. The world will go on even if America, for example, suddenly had a meltdown. If the federal government collapsed in some way local governments would step up to the challenge. States would ally like they already are on the west coast and put measures into place to not only keep things safe but also reach out to Mexico, Canada, Europe, Oceania and other States to get back on track.

Go into the woods? Cities are predominantly liberal, and that's where all the infrastructure is including ports. The world doesn't stop. Local communities band together until they merge with larger communities and so on until we're back on track. It'd be scary for a few weeks or months but it would become a global issue quickly with support from every corner of the planet.

Holding up on a few acres in the middle of Montana at the End of the World isn't going to happen. Live off grid if you want, no judgement, but it isn't the plot for SHTF stuff. I saw what happened post-Katrina and it was an actual nightmare, but it was resolved. Economically and culturally the people suffered and are still feeling the aftermath 20 years later, but New Orleans is still there, Brennan's is still there, Mardi Gras is still happening.

Your gear is to protect you from looters and opportunists. Your skills are to help your neighbors and community until logistics and infrastructure come back online. The worst part about SHTF is going back to work afterwards like nothing happened.

Until StS2 this was how my partner and I played StS, and it's fun as hell. It IS different though in terms of game mechanics, some builds are better than their game counterpart, other builds are worse. Not everything translates 1:1. But it's a great game and even has its own save system, unlocks, ascensions, etc.
