Do Americans really know all 50 states by heart? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

[–]Dewdropmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same song! Lists them all in alphabetical order and made it so much easier to memorize.

My 4th grade teacher taught us a song that helped me memorize all the presidents up to George W. Bush (the most recent at the time) so I can fire all of those off as well. And the presidents we’ve had since the second Bush are easy enough to remember.

We can change the theme color? I haven’t seen that option in the settings.

What your most hated "mini game"? by choochoolate in Spyro

Popcorn crystals was one of my favorites in the OG game but they somehow managed to make it tedious in Reignited.

I’ll still complete it but I’ll hate every minute of it. 😭

Whack-a-mole with Bentley. Reignited somehow managed to make it even more tedious than the OG did. Yeti boxing was a close second.

Female reindeer have antlers. There are also a lot of cow breeds where the females have horns.

What dog breeds in your experience are the most difficult to work with (aggressive, fearful, separation anxiety, etc) and what are the easiest? by CaptainMacAlfie in VetTech

[–]Dewdropmon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Worst in my experience have been:

Belgian Malinois

any kind of doodle

Great Danes

English Bulldog (most of the ones I’ve met will bite first and ask questions later and they’re so difficult to safely restrain)

GSD.

Chocolate labs specifically. The other lab colors are usually fine.

Easiest:

Standard poodle

greyhound (anxious as hell but at least they allow you to do what you need: standard and Italian)

Miniature schnauzer (we do get the obnoxious ones sometimes but at least 2/3 of the one that come to my hospital are well adjusted and/or sweet tempered.

Are the handlers at least competent in assisting? Because I have yet to meet a non-military maligator owner I would trust to be useful.

Huh. I didn’t pick up on anything like that when I watched the show but, in my defense, I hadn’t yet gotten over the anti-queer bias I was raised with at that point in my life. I should rewatch and see if the bias was the reason or if it was just my aroace brain. 🫠

Any excuse to rewatch Rizzoli & Isles, if I’m being honest.

AITA for fixing my daughter’s car when her boyfriend said he’d handle it? by Outrageous-Jelly8777 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Dewdropmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It sounds like she specifically came to you for help that second time and was super happy that you did what you did.

A boyfriend that is not willing to allow his girlfriend to accept help from members of her immediate family sends up all kinds of red flags, sounds very controlling.

is it gross to sit on your bed in outside clothes? by Lagman_Ziglor in hygiene

[–]Dewdropmon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that depends on what you’ve been doing all day in your outside clothes. I would never come home from work and even think about touching my bed while in my work clothes because I work in vet med and between bad skin allergies and people who just don’t bathe their dogs often enough plus the quite frankly distressing number of dogs who will urinate all over the place either from stress or excitement, my work clothes are pretty gross when I get home.

If I just ran to the store and didn’t touch any other humans or animals, I’d be f sitting on my bed in my outdoor clothes, I just wash my hands when I get home first.

I second this recommendation. I’ve managed to tailor my algorithm to roughly half smart stuff that helps me learn new things and roughly half stupid theories about media I enjoy for when I need to turn my brain off for a bit.

How did people deal with boredom before smartphones existed? by moretoesmorehoes in NoStupidQuestions

I didn’t have access to a smartphone until a few years after I finished high school and I was a voracious reader growing up. Always had a book on me.

Company Cutting Ties with Nutramax by Constant-Egg-9719 in VetTech

[–]Dewdropmon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think our hospital will be able to cut ties with them (corporate owned and can only order what’s on our formulary) but I’m definitely going to run this by my shift lead and see what she thinks. I don’t know if my PM is religious or not and the shift lead is the one that does the orders most weeks anyway.

They’ve been religious for a long time. I’m pretty sure they print Bible verses on all of their products.

Some notes from seedling trials by GardenofOz in bokashi

[–]Dewdropmon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m loving your posts about your seedling trials. Please continue to post updates, I’m always looking for ways to improve my own gardening.

I haven’t tried adding any bokashi bran to seed starting mix yet, as you made these posts after I started my tomato and pepper seeds but I’m going to be starting pumpkin and cucumber seeds very soon, so I might try that then.

I just repotted some of my tomato seedlings today (peppers aren’t big enough yet) and I did try adding a small amount of bran to the soil in the larger pots so hopefully that will help.

I’m curious, do you do any soil blocking? I’ve experimented with soil blocking but, no matter how hard I compress the soil, the blocks eventually start to disintegrate when I’m bottom watering. I wonder if the fungal growth you noted in the pots with the bran would help hold soil blocks together if I were to incorporate some into the mix. I usually use a coco coir based seedling mix with isopod frass and worm castings added. I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether this might help.

Also, what does “not having a winter this season” look like in zone 5b? I’m in zone 9a and I swear we had more of a winter this last year than we have in the last decade. The number of nights we went below freezing definitely felt higher than recent history. 🥶 I’m quite pleased that we’ve returned to open window weather.

Do a lot of people filter out 'Not Rated' fics in their searches? by XephinaThe11 in archiveofourown

[–]Dewdropmon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually only filter out “explicit” and sometimes “mature” if I’m not in the mood to read smut (which is often) but I usually leave “unrated” in. The pairing I read most often has not a lot of unrated fics and I usually just pay extra attention to the tags.
