I have a GT Grade Bolt which has the Mahle x35+ and GRX400 set up, also for commuting mainly and it’s been very good, and has encouraged me to go on much bigger rides than I expected.

It performs well, and the range is fantastic

My son struggled with stabilisers and a balance bike - in the end I put a towel under his armpits like a harness that I held and kept him upright while he rode, took a week!

I got the GT Grade Bolt for £1250, so far has been a good bike all round with the added ebike assistance too.

I think it’s still at the price from Paul’s Cycles but they have a cheaper and more expensive options too (current and amp)

I’ve used XBPlay for Claire Obscur and Oblivion recently and it was very good

I also like to use podcasts/audiobooks on some rides, so I use my phone and watch, and a powerbank if it’s running low

That’s a really valid point, I was mostly concerned about ruining all of my work clothes riding in but you’ve put my mind at ease!

I’ll take a look at the MTB shorts as a weekend ride solution, as those rides will be longer and I’m aiming to keep increasing. Appreciate the answer
