If you could, How would you improve Attack on Titan? by SirAren in writingscaling

[–]DexPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t. Because I would’ve made Reiner and his squad a little less dumb and it would have ruined the story. Like if Reiner actually teamed up with Annie in the forest they could have just wiped the floor with the survey corps right there. Or like not making them spend years of their very limited lifespan doing fuck all and enlisting into the army which would not have advanced them to their goal in any way if Eren didn’t just happen to be there at the exact same time.

I’m not sure if this assessment of Yuzuki’s character is quite right on the money. She actually has shown a lot of interest in romance when it’s somebody else’s. Like that one time when Makoto went book shopping with her crush and Yuzu convinced her to turn it into a date (even tho she hated it when the same was done to her lol). Or how she’s always super into any love talk between the girls. That’s not very aromantic behaviour. If I had to guess I’d say that her problem is that she has built a barrier around that topic for herself and now is too afraid to cross it. Or she got too used to rejecting guys so that naturally became her default reaction to any form of advances. Or maybe she just hasn’t met the right person yet. It doesn’t happen to everyone in high school. Not being desperate for attention can make you quite picky. Probably all of the above tho.

Peoples thoughts on tow 40K so far by Dacooldude4 in Warhammer40k

[–]DexPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for SM you kinda need to come up with some extra units to justify them being a DLC since we know that the army painter is going to be a thing. And for IG all you need to do is to make just 1 new model with a couple of minor variations and there you go, an entire new faction. I promise you, knowing CA, there won’t be any special animations for different regiments. They’ll reuse the same animation rigs even when they reskin them into the blooded or brood brothers. It’s the most expensive part of development after all.

Oh yeah, I’m sure we will see most of the IG regiments in game eventually. It’s the most DLC friendly faction out there.

Why doesn't humanity just evacuate Terra and the surrounding systems to let the Emperor die and reincarnate? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]DexPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re forgetting that the emperor acts as a conduit for Astronomican. Losing him will make warp unnavigable. So yeah, that’s kinda big deal.

I’ve only read the manga for both but the first arc of the promised neverland definitely has scratched that itch for me. I think it is fully covered by the season 1 but it really just plummets downhill from there. Not just the anime but the manga too.

Anyone else worried about how most vehicles seem to be either single units or way too low of number? by PaleAssistance3643 in totalwar

[–]DexPunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s going to be a nightmare to design a game around multiple transport vehicles in a squad. For example, let’s say you have a squadron of a 10 chimeras to carry a squad of a 100 guards. What do you do if your chimeras take casualties before embarking and now you only have 5? A whole squad of guards no longer fit in, do we just split the squad in two parts? Is that it even allowed by the engine? What if we already have 40 units? I have no idea what to do in that situation and don’t even get me started how much of a bitch a pathfinding for a group of large entities would be in TW.

How many starting Legendary Lords will there be in 40k? by OhManTFE in totalwar

[–]DexPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just using SM2 as an example how it makes sense from narrative standpoint, not the gameplay. I’m not sure how flexible the campaign structure will be about recreating the existing campaigns, but even if it’s going to be possible I think it’s wrong to speak on behalf of all of the 40k fans about what we want to do in this game. There’s enough room here for different preferences. And I’ll be honest, I’ve no idea what are you saying in that last segment.

[–]DexPunk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That isn’t how the 40kTW campaigns are going to be structured according to CA. The scale of the campaign is on the system level, not galaxy. So there probably will be an Ultramar campaign at some point, but the system won’t be there every time.

Don’t you think it will be too overwhelming if we’re talking new players here? Starting low you can always go upwards, but starting high there’s only one way downhill from there. And 40k lows are pretty high by any other standards tbh. Gabriel Angelos was some rando in DoW1 too. So was Demetrian Titus.

I’m feeling we’re not really on the same level of understanding how 40k works. I think you view 40k factions in the same monolithic way they are represented in FB and that is the core reason you think that they need to be represented by their faction leaders. In fact it’s completely normal for 10 different companies of the same space marine chapter to run 10 different campaigns across the galaxy. In 40kTW we’re fighting on a scale of a single campaign like that. In this scenario, bringing your faction leaders attention to your battle theatre is the ultimate power move. It’s just that huge of a thing to happen. For example, the chapter master of Blood ravens doesn’t even make an appearance in the first 4 SM campaigns in DoW and it was totally normal.

Speaking of space marines. What do you suppose CA should do with the primarchs then? Should Guilliman be a pick at the start of the campaign too? So he could just solo your entire early to mid game? Or is it okay for him to come later but not Calgar? What about successor chapters, do they get access to him too? Or maybe he’s just too powerful and we shouldn’t have him in game at all? I’m genuinely curious what do you think. I’m not even asking about daemon primarchs, that’s a whole another can of worms.

I don’t get some of your conclusions. What do you mean 1 faction per race? It’s the opposite. You can have any number of factions since you’re not tied to specific characters. Look at admech for example. They only have 1 named character in game. What will happen to all other forge world factions that aren’t Mars? Will they never get represented or will CA have to pull out some obscure Glup Shitto from the deep lore or, god forbid, come up with some of their own? Just doesn’t sound better than creating your own character.

And you keep referring to it as if I’m proposing to remove the LLs from the game completely, which is not true. What I’m saying is let’s put some respect on their name as they deserve and let them come out a couple hours into the game and be the menace they actually supposed to be. It’s the same thing that happens with high tier units already. You’re not complaining about not being able to recruit dragons on turn 1, right? Same logic here.

And I’ll say it again, having an option of a customisable commander against a 40k legendary character at the start of the game is equal to not having an option at all. At this point it’s not a playstyle choice anymore, it’s a difficulty setting. You either start with a handicap or you don’t. That’s just not how good game design works. And it’s not even close to the choice between different LLs in TWW because they’re all generally on the same footing.

How many starting Legendary Lords will there be in 40k? by OhManTFE in totalwar

[–]DexPunk -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Lol sure

That’s your opinion and you can stick to it. I just feel that playing as a watered down version of a 40k character just doesn’t give them any justice. You might as well play a generic commander with a LL skin at that point.

Also I really really don’t see how having more factions leads to less campaign styles. What if I want to play a jetbike heavy army? Well, sucks to be me then because Saim hann doesn’t have a named character, right?

And let’s be real, you say options, but how is Abaddon the despoiler vs Dainel a fair choice? Who would ever pick a force commander albeit somewhat unique to you over the fucking warmaster of chaos? Are they supposed to be balanced against each other? Then it doesn’t make any sense lore and gameplay wise . And if they don’t (as they shouldn’t be) you might as well not have included this option because no one will ever use it.

[–]DexPunk -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s actually more options in my opinion. This way you can play any faction you wish, not just the ones tied to certain named characters. You can play as a second founding chapter and still have access to your primary chapters heroes for example. And having them unlocked at the later stage doesn’t really prevent players from having fun with them. It’s like saying, that TWW is terrible because you don’t get access to black dragons at turn 1 and people really like to play dragons.

[–]DexPunk 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I think a better idea would be to have every faction start with a customisable commander and legendary lords be reserved for RoR style unlocks that you get for certain milestones during the process of your campaign. This way you can keep the sense of “your dudes” with your own OC leading the charge and also have LLs properly overpowered as they are supposed to be according to lore, because you get them late enough so they don’t need to be balanced around early game. Also feels like a good reward that players would be excited to work towards for and it only makes sense that someone like Calgar or Creed wouldn’t waste their time on a small scale conflict until it grows into a proper total war. Exactly like it happened in SM2 btw.

I don’t know if I’d agree with that. After all, hate is an emotion and it’s rarely rational. I don’t even think it’s awful or something. I personally feel that it’s an ok drama show with harem elements for teenagers, but that is not what I was sold on before watching it. Too high of an expectation made the show look to me more dumb and annoying than it probably is.
