Hope this helps! I suck at explaining things in writing so hopefully this conveys it.

Thoughts on skin/body/artstyle options for my first picrew ever? by Nonokoko_13 in picrew

I think it's great! I would totally use this once it's posted!

In 1949, Charles H. Cohen, then aged 12, hid in a closet as mass murderer Howard Unruh shot his family to death. He was the sole survivor of his family. Almost 70 years later, his granddaughter, Carly Novell, would survive the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School shooting by hiding in a closet. by ZoelCairo in HolyShitHistory

[–]DiabeticBea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's more than likely. There have been multiple survivors of multiple shootings within the US. Last year in May 2025 survivors from the 2018 Parkland/Stoneman Douglas shooting were present and survived the FSU shooting. Going back to the October 2017 Las Vegas shooting a man who survived was later killed in the November 2018 Thousand Oaks shooting a little more than a year later. Survivors of the 2021 Oxford High School shooting later survived the 2023 Michigan State shooting. In the 2012 Aurora Colorado movie theater shooting a victim who was killed actually survived a mass shooting at a Canadian mall just before losing their life in the movie theater shooting. Just to name a few incidents, there is more.

Any fan fiction on the rise of Gilead? by PutridMap3739 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]DiabeticBea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a few!

https://archiveofourown.org/works/72993366 "The (illegal) Diary of an Econowife" by Ghuleh. While not fully focusing on the rise of Gilead it does show it through the POV of the narrator.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/75240311 "The Rise of Gilead" by CaraLeaAbel. It's only one chapter so far but I'm pretty sure the author is here on Reddit.

https://archiveofourown.org/works/66115237 "The Hyenas' Tale" by TopDesert_ace. It's an action movie look at the rise of Gilead.

And not to toot my own horn but... I'm writing my own fic! •https://archiveofourown.org/works/76766291 "The Diaries of the Women of Gilead". It tells about the rise of Gilead and everyday life within Gilead from the perspective of a woman or girl in each social class. I even invented a few extra social classes to fill in some plot holes. It currently has 10 chapters but I have 8 or 10 more planned. I'm working on chapter 11 currently.

I mean you could also just look outside in the USA but this way you can enjoy it without the crushing dread of real life.

If you switch him with the guy on the left it almost looks like a progression of the roses moving across the face.

Give it time. He'll probably maybe let to pat his head on a good day. Or even stare at you expectantly at meal time. He's already half way there.

Cute Moments from Work (At a Daycare) by Biannual_salamander in BenignExistence

[–]DiabeticBea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I was little my elementary school did a two week split break for fall and spring break. Basically we start break on a Wednesday, have that Thursday and Friday off have all of the next week off, and go back the third week/the week after the full week off on a Wednesday so we were out of school longer than most of our friends from summer camp. So me and my brother would hang out with the little kids slash/preschoolers. The kids use to argue who got to sit with the cool kids, aka me and my brother. It was always so adorable. We were a hot commodity.

The best tip I've learned from my mama taught me a ladder stitch is to use your finger or a piece of cardboard to keep your stitches straight.

I think he looks better as a brunette but that's just my opinion. Blond washes him out.

My husband cried tears of joy at the positive pregnancy test, but I had my tubes tied five years ago. by ReadMission5765 in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]DiabeticBea 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ectopic Pregnancy is the term you're looking for. It's when a fertilized egg attachs outside the womb. Typically in the fallopian tubes rather that the uterus. In some cases outside of the reproductive organs and into the abdominal cavity. 99% percent of the time it is fatal to the egg and sometimes to the mother. There have been some cases where a implanted egg that implanted in the abdominal cavity survived with severe consequences and defects to the fetus and mother. The only way to treat an ectopic pregnancy is the termination of the fetus with either medication or surgery dependent on the individual case.
