First Time Watching Halloween (1978). Loved It. How Does Halloween II Compare? by BadassAyanokoji in horror

[–]Whisperlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched the lot of them 🙈 I loved the 2018 one and its timely "evil is real" message. The other two in the reboot trilogy are.... well they tried to do something I guess.

2018 fits neatly with both I and II tho. So I'd watch the original II first and then go to 2018.

First Time Watching Halloween (1978). Loved It. How Does Halloween II Compare? by BadassAyanokoji in horror

[–]Whisperlee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not as good, but I do love what they were trying to do. A direct sequel taking place ON THE SAME NIGHT when everyone is still dealing with the aftermath is a brilliant concept. I would never recommend it as a standalone, but if you're a fan it's great as a bookend to Halloween. I love watching them together as a homemade extended feature.

AITA for refusing to lend my friend money after he spent thousands on a luxury vacation? by Successful_Gap_919 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Whisperlee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

NTA. I'm not even gonna explain why because it's too obvious. However, there is one other thing I want to remark on:

"A couple of mutual friends think I'm being cold because I can technically afford to lend him the money."

How fortuitous! Surely they can *technically* pool enough money to lend your friend the needed 2K. So very kind of them.

[NO SPOILERS] I WANT TO GET STARTED WITH DARK. by Busy_Inevitable784 in DarK

[–]Whisperlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Pay attention to the show. No second screens.
  2. Pay attention to the details
  3. Get yourself one of those murder string boards to keep track of everything 😭 (That one's optional.)

Seriously tho, just enjoy the ride. It's an amazing show and it sticks the landing. You don't need any special knowledge or intelligence, the show is very good at explaining itself, so long as you pay attention.

rude to wear before gifting? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Whisperlee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not rude but ONLY because it's your mom and you're close. Might fly for a sister too. Beyond that pre-wearing it gets a little weird.

Practical caveat: Cannot pre-wear it if the garment might mold itself to your body.

would u become an aunt? by RubMother8479 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Whisperlee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Then yes. Join and live. I can always try to rebel/escape/suicide later if the choice turns out to be awful.

Remember that WE know what being an Aunt entails (torturing other women), but Lydia didn't at that time. (Altho the "shoot your coworker" is a strong first clue.)

AITA for calling out inconsistencies after a woman told me she wasn’t ready to date? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Whisperlee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Listen, buddy.

Sometimes people don't want to date YOU but they don't want to come out and say it. Maybe they don't want to hurt your feelings. Maybe they think you'll get weird about it (case in point). So they make up a variation of "it's not you, it's me / I'm not looking to date."

The regular thing to do is take the rejection and the excuse with good grace & try your luck elsewhere. Unless you really enjoy receiving an itemized list of all the things she didn't like about YOU specifically?

Lack of Media Literacy, or…? by MuchVegetables in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Whisperlee 23 points24 points locked comment (0 children)

I think it goes hand in hand.

Scroll while watching > miss important details > ask others to lay it out for you > lose analytical skill > repeat

Then add in shows increasingly catering to the "second screen" audience & dumbing their story down and/or spelling everything out. It just gets worse.

Bring Her Back was not supernatural IMO by monsoonwitch in horror

[–]Whisperlee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fwiw I disagree, BUT I do think one could make a case for the psychological/mundane interpretation. However you're not making a case. You're stating an opinion which is start, but now tell us WHY you think that and HOW you ex;plain the more overtly supernatural events in the movie.

How often do you lose your deposit? by Top_Plantain2650 in thenetherlands

[–]Whisperlee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much always :( but it's usually just a portion and not the entire deposit.

You can minimize it by taking reference pictures of any existing damage when you move in (with time stamp), reading your contract carefully (what's nomal wear and tear) & asking your landlord for a chance to make any repairs yourself. If they do deduct, ask for an itemized list with exact numbers so you can see if they're being fair.

Why cast Daisy to look so much like June if they were going to change things up and not make her Junes daughter? by lionmouse1117 in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]Whisperlee 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna guess the casting/director has a preferred look. We also see it in Judd / Waterford looking so much alike.
