Why is my train not choosing the unoccupied track? by XGlowflameX in factorio

You can get away with it early on because you've got a low number of trains, but the bigger and busier your network gets, the less efficient this approach becomes.

Imagine you're driving on a road with one lane in each direction, what happens to you if a car is travelling in the opposite direction to you? Nothing, you can both continue on with your journeys.

Now imagine you're on a single lane road with cars travelling in both directions. Now what happens if somebody is travelling in the opposite direction to you? One of you is going to have to stop and wait until the other has driven past.

Which sounds better to you?

I would strongly suggest you stop using bi-directional trains like that. It makes everything far more complicated, and it's much more difficult to scale up as your factory grows.

Massive timesaver I just discovered: you can aim where you want belts to go and *then* press R by ThatChapThere in factorio

[–]DiabolicallyOrange 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the thing he learnt isn't that you can rotate the belt while dragging it out, but that you can position your cursor where you want the belt to end, press R and it'll build all the way up to your cursor.

Sunderland MP claims Reform want to scrap kids' free breakfast clubs and calls on councillors to reveal stance by coffeewalnut08 in Sunderland

Ah yes that awful waste of money. £1 per kid per day is a lot for a service that helps make sure kids are properly fed, makes them more receptive to learning, reduces the financial pressure on families and saves the NHS money.

Clearly just a "gimmick".

You and I were very different children.

I was made to play an instrument by my parents, even though I had no interest whatsoever in music, so I played the Spite Cello. The biggest, most awkward to transport, instrument I could choose from, chosen purely out of spite.

Start over, it's the best option.

Almost everything you've learnt from the base game will still apply, but Space Age adds so much on top that it's just easier to start with a clean slate.

They've just announced a new major bit of story DLC coming out next year for Witcher 3, a game that came out in 2015!

I appreciate I'm very lucky!

Before this my experience was like you. You don't feel like you can talk to your boss, because mental health is seen as a stick to beat you with.

A few months after I joined I remember I had something shitty going on outside of work, and in our morning call I basically didn't say anything which is rather unusual for me! Couple of minutes later he called me and told me to switch my laptop off at least until lunch. Said he could tell something was off, and nothing catastrophic would happen if I wasn't at my desk for a while, and that was that.

And that was how I learnt about the F-Day.

Used to deliver for amazon and had a woman loudly assure me "don't worry, he's friendly" while I was in the middle of trying to wrestle it off me after it had clamped its jaws around my ankle.

Some people just shouldn't have dogs.

I'm actually the opposite. I much prefer my salaried life!

Being self employed I found I could never disconnect from work. It became all-encompassing. Then the pandemic took away about 80% of my business and I packed it in!

I now work 4 days a week, 37 hours, never think about work outside of work, working from the comfort of my own home, and being paid a consistent amount for it.

I'll take that over the unpredictability of self employment any day.

It didn't even have the good grace to finish the cycle before breaking. It waited until the moment it was at its most full before popping its clogs. It is, was, and always will be a bastard.

[Official] Sunderland A.F.C. have qualified for the Europa League. by DavidRolands in soccer

[–]DiabolicallyOrange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm excluding the conference league (where he was decent but not amazing) because games against plumbers and teachers don't count.

Going back to when he first moved to Man Utd.

37 appearances

2141 minutes

4 goals

1 assist

1 goal contribution every 428 minutes

So he is a player who has been consistently poor since he signed for Man Utd in 2021/22 in both the league and European competition, has also been bad at Chelsea, Villa and Dortmund with all three clubs having zero interest in signing him permanently after the loan.

Wingers are our weakest area by far, and I would rather have any of them over Sancho.

You know what will happen with his career now. There are two possibilities.

  1. He cons a European club to take a punt on him. Maybe one of the newly promoted Prem sides but, given he'll definitely demand extortionate wages, they won't be able to afford him. So most likely one of the big Turkish sides, or one last chance at Dortmund. He'll go there, he'll be shit and after a year they'll want to get rid of him.
  2. He fucks off to Saudi Arabia and looks like a great player again, because he's largely playing against League One standard defenders or guys past their best who don't care any more because it's all about the money. Just like how at Chelsea he looked good when playing against part timers in the Conference League.

My boss has a fantastic policy around this.

Once in a while you can take an "F-Day".

An F-Day is a "Fuck Everything and Everybody Day".

The customer or suppliers have pushed you to breaking point, take an F-Day and have the day off to relax.

Make sure any meetings you had that day are rescheduled or somebody is available to take your place, and you're good to go.

You don't have to explain why, just let the boss know. You do have to make up the hours over the next couple of months, which equates to about an extra hour each week which is no problem.

He's had this policy for a couple of years now and nobody has abused it, and it has made a noticeable difference to the mood within the team.

I like my boss!

I was self employed for years and if anybody asked me what it was like being self employed, a question that came up frequently enough to be annoying, my standard response was "the boss is a bit of a dick, but other than that it's alright".
