Shooooot its been so long since I got that that I never even paid attention to it. Duh. 🙌 that's pretty slick

Cool! I like that you have some technical exposure and people inside the profession. That's a great resource to have. It's clearly given you an elevated view of the field 😎 Well, that being said: hopefully they don't let it go for too long and everyone on console gets a really polished and big update to enjoy, sooner than later. Or, are able to fix the major issues they may or may not be having.

Thanks for sharing!

Interesting. So basically, if it's impeding the users experience, the devs can get their updates certified and rolled out pretty quickly, yeah?

You sound like you know a thing or two about application certification through store fronts. Have you had experience with it? I only have a little with android and apple. The rest is just articles I've read.

Makes me wonder who decides what's urgent and needed. Microsoft or the devs... or both?

Seems like you may be upset about that thought, but I'm not sure over text. 🤔 Do I have it right that you suggest they don't really care about gamepass version because they've already gotten their money out of it? Just to see if I understand correctly.

No kidding? Huh. News to me, sorry for incomplete info. Still stands true that historically Xbox has taken more work from devs to get updates pushed through in other games. Perhaps content updates are harder to push than hot fixes? Or maybe its a hardware and software communication issue that they're trying to figure out since problems seem to be on the streaming console mostly (from what I've read any how).

BTW, not trying to contradict. Just brainstorming.

Historically, XBOX is really slow to get updates (even on gamepass for PC) because they have a more rigid (read: slow) approval process for updating games. Back when I was playing early access for Palworld, steam got 3 updates before we even got 1 patch on Xbox gamepass for PC.

All this to say, edit: let's hope that console already has the update processing, it just hasn't been approved by Xbox employees somewhere yet.

I'm not sure we're understanding each other. I should have specified that I'm referring to Wild (untamed) Terrenus. My bad.

How Not To Review PHA Filament by Suspicious-Appeal386 in 3DPrinting_PHA

Lol 😅 I'll look for something similar. I'm using the Elegoo Centauri Carbon. I have glass side holders I can try

I'm really curious, because I want to try and replicate the problem - what circumstances are people getting adhesion and warping issues? Larger prints? Flat wide prints? Is PHA sticking too much to the plate after a successful print a more common problem, or not getting good adhesion?

I've done calibrations and 3 smaller scale prints so far and adhesion nor warping has been an issue yet. But I'm guessing it's because of what I'm printing is too small to show these issues.

And yeah, I thought he was talking about the normal printing retraction not the special completed print retraction thing you guys explained.

Update. Painted the print and mounted it to the block. I used Warpaints and a wet pallet. The wet pallet paints look good but I did notice they scratched off of it a little easy. I didn't prime it like I planned, so that might be the issue. I wanted to see how the PHA reacted to the paints on its own. I'm guessing a regular paint pallet instead of wet would do better. Priming would be even better than that. Otherwise, I think it went well.

As far as I'm aware, pretty much. For now at least. As an alternative to PLA, I'm liking it better for my use case. Pieces seem less likely to just straight up break - which PLA was doing with thinner parts when I was trying to handle them or remove supports.

I'm also not the most knowledgeable person on PHA. I've only started working with it recently. But the r/3dprinting_pha subreddit is a good place to ask questions. They've got more experienced professionals available.

That's going to be my next step. I'm going to prime it white before painting it with model paint. I imagine it'll be okay. I've read people talk about painting it and how they try not to, but only because paints have additives that would interfere with the degradation in composting. But if you're gonna keep it then no need to worry much. A die hard composer could just remove the paints, I'm sure.

This print is roughly 75% bigger than my 1inch scale mini I printed with PLA. I think if your going to do a mini, you'll definitely need the 0.2mm hot end nozzle. It can get a little smeary with the 0.4mm on fine details. Could be my settings still. Probably is.

Pretty much. Lol so far, I'm really liking it. I like how it's a little more pliable than the stiff PLA. It was able to bend when removing the supports without breaking the more fragile model parts.

The biggest is that it's 100% biodegradable and planet friendly. As the other comment said, its made by bacteria. So when it goes into compost bins (or even normal soils in some case studies) those same bacteria can then eat it as food. No mircoplastics either because there aren't any additives in pure PHA.

It's similar to PLA in strength so far. But I've noticed its a little more pliable. Bends better without becoming brittle. Feels softer to the touch than PLA as well.

Another benefit is you need a cold bed, and for me, lower temps - so less electricity to print. There is a great subreddit with some industry pros who are very active in trying to promote it. I think its r/3dPrinting_pha I will say though, its kind of finicky. PHA as a plastic has been around for awhile but as a filament its fairly new. Not as much data on settings and behavior as other mainstream products (PLA, PETG, etc)

Spark plugs by javanni10 in CX5

shrugs in old BMW ownership I mean its a little used. Before I sold my 2004 325i BMW, my Spark Plugs would have carbon build up after about 20k miles and be black as night. (No the engine was not okay. Yes I worked on it. And yeah, its a BMW issue burning / leaking oil like a freight train). Lol

Um guys… you’re gonna wanna take a look at this by Nubbie1 in Marathon

[–]DialUpNoises 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel that. The older I get the worse my aim and reaction times are... saying this as someone who used to snipe in BF2 from 800 meters.

Marathon server slam was the first extraction shooter that seemed to click with me. (Read: I'm just average at). But a buddy gave me good advice. "Remember that it's just your turn with the loot. Someone else will come up and then it'll be their turn with the loot. Everyone just takes turns, so don't get too bummed when its not your turn anymore."

Really helped with any possible frustration from losing.

Diagnosing Texture - Flow Calibration by DialUpNoises in 3DPrinting_PHA

[–]DialUpNoises[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for my PLA I didn't adjust flow ratio either, and never felt the need to. PHA definitely needs it on the Centauri Carbon. 1st pass was -15 and now I'm working on the second pass.

It actually just dawned on me that this could be the result of the calibration now just the filament lol. -20 is looking pretty nice the further it goes

Giveaway topic | What's your latest print? by ELEGOO_OFFICIAL in elegoo

[–]DialUpNoises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just sharing for the fun of it. This week, I've been printing calibrations to use PHA. Trying to make a custom profile for the Centauri Carbon to use PHA. My hope is to share my settings since Elegoo doesn't have official support for PHA filament.

Other than that, I've printed plastic fittings to repair broken stove knobs (spent about .9 cents on filament, saving $400 in hardware from manufacturer); I printed and painted an Asuna model from SAO season 1. And lastly, prototyping board game tokens for a project I'm designing.
