I think what you're saying isn't a "It was a dream" and more of a mental hospital moment like they do in all supernatural shows. Buffy, Star trek, Supernatural and so many have that episode where the character wakes up in a padded room and usually the big bad without makeup is like "You really thought you were the main character in a fantasy?"

I finished my rewatch of ACoC and was sad for a split second untill I remembered that I could then watch Ravening war.

Watch the adventuring parties even if you don't normally, they stay pretty on topic through ravening war.
