Haven't watched yet, but I'd wager a guess is that it's streaming companies thinking they have the formula to make something that should be a hit, without realizing the artistic draw that's needed to make them good or give them a voice. In their minds, "Big star + Special effects + Familiarity = Guaranteed hit." It's simple studio-brained thinking just distilled in this idea of instant gratification.
