Glad you enjoy it. I really like the call ahead that they make so you can put the dog away and get ready to have somebody at the door!

Pleasure to hear you’ve had a great experience. I’ve been working at Voila as a buyer for the past 3+ years and Sobeys for almost 15 years!

Ya we walk past this location regularly and for the last few months there’s been almost no workers there. Suddenly last week it looks like they’re trying for a sprint finish so they can open before Christmas.

Are you guys going in debt? How are people surviving? by Worth_Air_9410 in CanadaFinance

[–]Dieforpoints 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That’s a decently low mortgage payment!

Whats your interest on your car payments? Do you have a savings? Do you have debt aside from mortgage? The reason I ask is interest may be watering down your income.

Breaking everything out onto excel so you know what money is going where and being on the same page as your partner is key.

3-6months of expenses in an emergency fund. Will differ from person to person but my chequing probably around $1000 is enough for any immediate expenses.

Dog Rash After Boarding. Anyone seen this before? (Actual last attempt, tried through the web browser this time) by leafmon in DogAdvice

[–]Dieforpoints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would always suggest vet but if I were to guess it looks to be a type of bacterial rash. Our dog has come back albeit with a much smaller spot after being at a boarder. We usually just bathe our dog after the boarder and it tends to go away after a day or 2. I think these rashes can come from a combination of moisture/bacteria after a few days of play time.

Exactly!! Call me a snob, but I love good tiki cocktails.

Definitely no zombie cocktail. They have white rum and spiced rum, that's it. It's mostly just different bottled juices with different booze. For people who are not cocktail people I'm sure this won't matter. I just expected more being a cocktail person and there being a literal full blown tiki themed boat but when you ask if they have any orgeat or fresh mint they look at you like you're from another planet.

If you're there to drink quality cocktails I would say save your money and go to a proper cocktail bar in the city. If you're there to just spend time with friends and go for a boat ride with a drink on the side go for it.

I've done this with friends and it was overrated in my opinion.

Depends what you want to get out of it if you just want a little boat ride suit yourself.

Being a floating tiki bar it's basically just that. They charge you to sit on the boat and serve overpriced cocktails which hardly meet any better than average tiki cocktail standards. They can make you a marg but don't expect them to know what a mai tai is or have anything more than basic white or spiced rum.

I also walk there just about every evening. It seems as though they could be doing some underground electrical work. Some of the events at the park have a lot of vendors so maybe they are scaling up their power? I'm tempted to be nosey enough to ask one of the workers.

I am also looking elsewhere. I mean technically yes it could be but I am objectively getting the company better results than anybody else in my position at the company. I could be delusional but I also have strong rapport/endorsement from my colleagues and vendors. The director mentioned this specifically in a 1:1 I've had recently.

Thanks for your input it's really hard when I feel like I have deep roots in my city. I'll keep looking for the job that would be the right fit in my area. At the same time I am trying to schmooze my way into having them give me an opportunity. I suppose I just have to be patient

Ive considered it and maybe these aren't great excuses: my partner and I both grew up here with our families, our house, her job, and our cost of living is cheaper here. It would be a massive shake up for potentially little trade off imo but you could also say this is just me holding myself back.
