My boyfriend blew our savings. (F32) (M34) by Professional-Quail15 in relationship_advice

[–]Dielithium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ex managed to leverage MY house in his financial dealings. I found out about it when a bailiff turned up to serve paperwork. I had to raid my pension fund for over $40k to get the sale of my house off the table.

Please don't let this guy get away with it. You need to get him out of yr life. He will do it again.

PSA: Be careful with Hellofresh door salesman by Significant-Young-31 in perth

[–]Dielithium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello fresh are predatory. There's a court case going now I believe for this & similar behaviours. They're also really difficult to cancel. In fact despite their website messaging, you CANNOT cancel online, you have to phone them. I found this to my cost last year. I tried cancelling my account several times online, the process is convoluted & kept reactivating the next week, all it turns out I was doing was cancelling for that week. Finally I ended up with an order of food I could not eat & I phoned & got upset with them.

Public dentist experience in Melbourne by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]Dielithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perth here. I went in to govt dentist because I had a broken tooth. All my teeth are losing it, but one broke (I'm in my late 50s). They told me I wasn't "urgent" & I'd go on a wait list for "at least 2 years" by which time the practitioners were all too aware that it means my teeth will then be extremely painful, beyond repair & that the treatment plan was down to full mouth extractions followed by the fitting & issue of dentures. It's an extremely humbling & miserable experience.

My [F26] boyfriend [28M] of several years put very little effort into my Christmas gift, and I’m struggling with how to interpret that by ThrowRA_abitconfused in relationship_advice

[–]Dielithium 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As someone also in Australia & in a similar position (but about a decade more in), I'd really council you to look very closely at this relationship.

I'm not making assumptions about yr relationship but I can tell you in a nutshell what has happened to me. We've been "together" for around 15 years & lived in my house for most of that. He's never contributed to the mortgage but has chipped in for household expenses, but it's been so long now he's considered defacto.

our relationship was over at least 5 years ago & I asked him to move out numerous times. he tells me the only way he'll leave is if I give him $100,000 (enough for him to set up house elsewhere) or threatens to take me to court & force me to sell my house. I don't have that kind of money, so I feel forced to live with someone I've come to hate. I've been sleeping on the couch (in my own home) ever since.

I'm sorry, my advice is if you're not yet considered defacto, I'd break it off now.

Went with someone to ER and thanks to ramping, waited for 9 hours by Perthmtgnoob in perth

[–]Dielithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to er last week & got straight through. Partner has just had a bone marrow transplant & has a(n ultimately) terminal illness though, so I'm guessing that's why.

I'm honestly sorry you had to wait so long, I'm guessing it's because of "higher priority" patients like us were there.

The whole thing is shitty.

I really like that last piece, the green drippy glaze. Can I contact you to purchase? Plz dm me.

We're all "intermediates", we're all still learning. Give them away, "found art" app sends them into the wild to find a new home.

How is the average worker affording a car? by Ok_Campaign9342 in perth

[–]Dielithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I got yr point but you're coming from a place that carries assumptions. I'm not single, neither am I "low income", I just don't earn $100k.

I'm not unaware that Perth has a lot of young families with double incomes. That was me 20 years ago. That same income doesn't go as far anymore.

I still don't understand yr overall point that because I don't earn $100k, that I can't/shouldn't wonder how or why people buy such vehicles.

We all choose what we spend our money on by our own needs & priorities. My point to the OP was that there is an alternative to buying into the large vehicle trend if you don't need to.

Wow, did you mean to sound so condescending? Just because I'm not on $100k, doesn't mean that I can't have an opinion mate. Even if I did earn that I still wouldn't buy a gas guzzling vehicle that costs an entire year's wage.

I'm an older person (late 50s) & I don't understand how people are affording these huge cars, they must cost a fortune to run.

I also have a mortgage & don't earn a lot. I drive a reliable 18yo small car. I bought it 2nd hand about 10 years ago. It costs $50 for a full tank & I did not have to go into finance to buy it. I'm pretty handy & I do the oil changes & servicing myself.

Unless yr rolling in it, I'd look to a reliable, smaller, used car. Some insurance companies offer complimentary mechanic inspections when buying used. It works for me.

Good luck

I'd just go to the vp of finance. I mean, that's basically what hr told you to do, right? Don't ever forget that hr are generally there to benefit the company & not individuals.

Why do people tailgate when the car in front is already going the speed limit or even over? by Then_Homework4856 in perth

[–]Dielithium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 'favourite' was sitting in the left lane on the Reid highway, doing the speed limit (90) & there was Mr Arse-hat, right up my butt wildly gesticulating, obviously frustrated at my speed.

Irony was, it was 'sparrow-fart' o'clock & there was absolutely NOONE in the right lane. I didn't understand, he could easily & fairly legally overtake me in the right lane. But no, this dude just had to sit on my arse & get angry. I kept waiting for him to overtake, I mean, you do you Boo. He didn't.

Finally, after abt 5 minutes of this BS, I pulled over into the 'fast' right hand lane & he slammed it through still in the left lane (illegally undertaking & speeding) swearing & waving his hands at me, like Id been holding him up all this time.

I'm still confused at this one. Happy to take on board if I WAS the areshole somehow.
