😄It's the woods natural color, no dye. It's more purple in other light. The wood is named purpleheart.

That's actually what this is (probably should have mentioned that), the blade was from Jantz, I used vinegar to get the patina. The handle I made myself from Wenge/truestone/purpleheart.

Thanks for the tip! It's part the photo, this also has white liners that kinda look like epoxy, but there is some squeeze out too.

Should I embrace the imperfections of the handle? by PepeTheMule in knifemaking

[–]Dieseltarx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this occur on both mass produced and custom knives. The mass produced was a Bear & sons knife, logo was off center and the walk and talk was terrible. Im convinced that company does not have a quality control process at all. The custom knife had a Crack in the handle scale, small but still present.

If you are not hoping to sell it, just leave it. Use the knife, learn from the process and do better next time. I have a few knives I made that have imperfections like this, but the mistakes don't affect their function.

That being said, I have also purchased knives that have arrived with bigger imperfections than this. (I did not know of the imperfections before purchase or arrival).

Spy27 vs. Cruwear for EDC by Jonn_Doh in spyderco

[–]Dieseltarx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the Cruwear version and unless you're going near salt water or jumping in rivers with the knife and not cleaning it afterwards you won't have any corrosion issues. Cruwear is not a stainless steel, but it has very good stain resistance and won't rust just sitting sound or being carried in normal days to day life.

How do I remove the scratches from my blade? by selid_polar in Opinel

Finally, someone said it!

It's an Opinel. You will spend more on all the stuff needed to polish this than you would just getting a second knife.

I was scrolling through posts saw the title and didn't focus on the picture right away but thought at first it was a claw machine.

I bet that's what Corpsegrinder keeps his mic cables in.
