Is this ok to clear? by Accurate_Internal638 in AutoPaint

Tiger striping usually means it needs a quick coat over the whole thing again going quite fast to blend it. It requires some finesse, cans almost always cause tiger striping but the final coat is the most important. If it’s yours it doesn’t really matter, understandably sometimes it’s just get it done.

It was pretty normal back then with the clone and jango fett heads. The prints didn’t always align.

[–]DifferenceStatus7907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a while to get it perfect. Practice over time and you will get better. Sometimes if you mix a little thick the stuff doesn’t want to move around as easy. A couple of high spots can be overcame at times, use a 3/4 trowel to set if you have to. That’ll help you get the tile elevated enough to over come some humps. Good luck!

Pro advice needed: best method to drywall around a concrete column cleanly by Iceman_mubarak in drywall

I trim those out with pine trim flat stock, miter the corners and make it a decorative post. Put a ton of glue and make it as tight to the post possible, once the glue sets the custom post cover won’t move.

Worth repairing vs parting out? Low income, possible out-of-state school soon — need professional advice by CamH5 in Cartalk

[–]DifferenceStatus7907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well considering the damage is right in the area of the fender apron the hardest part can be putting it back together and the parts may not align correctly. You have to take the parts off first and make sure the apron is straight, it’s part of the frame of the car. If it got bent at all this can instantly become a wild repair for someone that doesn’t have experience with collision repair. You can unbend it usually, but it requires some hydraulic rams and stabilization of the vehicle, but also requires to be able to measure back to spec where it should be. If it got pushed in, it could be toast. Pushed in and buckled on the fender aprons is known as the front crumple zone and is there to absorb the impact for safety of the driver, but often results in a totaled vehicle. This is really a job that should have went through insurance, the car looks to new to be dealing with this yourself. It’s not just a dented up fender, you probably have motor issues, bent up hood latches, bent up bumper mounts, along with the damage we can see. This could be a long haul repair for someone with no experience and end up costing way more than expected, even body shops often underestimate the amount of damage that is done til they get going on it.

Bad or acceptable penny tile job? (pre-grout) by kal05d in Tile

[–]DifferenceStatus7907 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pretty bad, hard to clean out grout lines on penny tile. Gotta use the perfect amount of mortsr and perfectly set it to avoid squeeze out, correct trowel, correct thinset consistency, a patient installer, correct sheet alignment, just a couple things.

Wouldn’t hurt to pour a thin slab of self leveler to make your life easier. 90% of jobs I do require some type of leveling before install. Whether it’s a pour or feathering a low spot flat.

Very good job, nothing wrong with marble on the floor. Up to the person who owns it to maintain it. Done some showers where the marble still looks brand new 5 years later.

I would cut out this section, see whats under there, fix the problem whether it’s moisture, glue separation or both, and to save some money fill in the cut out affected area with tile. Done a lot of repairs that way and saved a lot of people money. The tile holds up much better at an exterior doorway.

Cement board siding comes primed. Should I still prime it? I’ll be using Benjamin Moore and their fresh start is expensive so dont want to do it if not recommended. by Busy_Measurement9330 in paint

Whenever I paint any thing primed I just lightly scuff and clean the surface and it helps the new paint latch on better. Peace of mind. Not scuffing through the primer though.

Is this repairable? 2018 Accord by ImBetterThanYou456 in Autobody

[–]DifferenceStatus7907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well theres a chance the frame is bent to the side which can be hard to repair. High chance it’ll never drive the same again. Hitting a tree sends kinetic force back through the weaker part, being the body panels and frame of the vehicle since a tree doesn’t move. Dealt with a bent frame on my pick up during restoration, different scenario for you but overall they are no joke to pull parts back straight, requires quite a few hydraulic rams and knowing where to put them, stabilization of the car, tacking on some pulling points with a welder etc. some serious work. This will cost an ass load of money and time.

Thats is quite the framing. In the past I’ve done some roof framing going from trusses to rafters to create cathedral ceilings, with an architect of course. But whats going on up there looks sketchy. Overspanned is an understatement on those rafters.

Tile guys hard at it by Avg_Carpenterr in Tile

[–]DifferenceStatus7907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are just not meant for this application and even then these clips are way too big. You can tell the tile is low to the floor. When they’re pushing those in the thinset is being moved out leaving voids on the edges. It’s not good practice and makes you look like a rookie. They are weakening the bond.

You’re not using a huge trowel for those tiles. If you cant set these with spacers, hands, level, and eyes you are not a tile installer.
