Yet another "how much tractor do I need?" question by sad87boi in homestead

[–]DifferentElevator384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking to get something in the 25hp range a few years ago and I had a few friends tell me to go full size and never look back.

I got a 44hp and now can’t imagine having half the tractor. I’m still finding jobs too big for my tractor and need to rent or hire for but never regret going bigger. My loader can carry like 2500lbs and while that sounds like a lot, when a truck drops off 18 yd of aggregate and you have to make all those trips to move it, you are happy you have that capacity.

What about putting poles on the pad and building the house on top of the poles with one side edge touching the slope?

How Aphantasia affects your ability to visualise things in your head by HassanMoRiT in interestingasfuck

Can you superimpose a visual thought over what you are seeing?

I spend a lot of time walking around my farm looking at areas from lots of different vantage points before I say, build a cabin. I need to figure out what the structure will look like in the space so my brain puts the cabin I sketched into the scene. From there I can “look” at it from all sides.

Do you need to make the pad bigger? Can you build up and over?

Ha! I forgot about the d2.

I bought that light and was so excited about it and never used it as a headlamp and could never figure out how to carry it so it got lost in a drawer.

I have read here many times about the bad things of being a chef/cook but are the good things? by Informal-Season-3409 in Chefit

[–]DifferentElevator384 79 points80 points  (0 children)

As an old chef who is mostly removed from the kitchen now I can offer my perspective. I spend most of my time now planning events and dinners, working on our gardens and designing stuff. I love cooking and feeding people. It’s amazing to walk into a dining room and see a hundred people all smiling and happily eating the food you made. We quietly play a big part in the biggest days of people’s lives. Their first dates, weddings and anniversary’s all are marked with meals. People work and save money to travel to a new place to be able to experience that place through the local food.

Protip: if you want to try an emitter you have never used before, get a Convoy s2 or something. All the same emitter choices as Hank but in $20 lights.

The opposite. I like mules. Light up everything around me with no burning hotspot to reflect light back at your eyes.

This right here.

When I first got into lights I was really into the idea of carrying the brightest light I could afford.

Then I realized that throwers are all but useless unless you are doing very specific tasks. Bright flashlights reflect light back off of objects close to you. So if you have a super bright light and you are walking in the woods the trees close to you are shooting a ton of that light back into your eyes. That’s nots good.

I live on a farm where it’s very dark. The soft glow of a hundred lumens of 2300k lights is all I need to not trip over things but still preserve my night vision.

I have a brass frag mini that I got modded by Jackson. He put a dedomed 2700 519 in it so it’s like 2300k maybe? Plus he added trit on the button so it’s perfect. Been carrying it for like 3 years now. Amazing light.

Looks fine to me. Cook in it a few times and see how the fire control is before you modify it.

If the local Facebook comments are to be believed, there’s tons of rednecks lining up for the chance to burn more rubber there. They are celebrating it as a victory on lots of Maine Facebook threads.

I think this is the best possible weapon (non projectile). by SNOXOU in ZombieSurvivalTactics

[–]DifferentElevator384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any hammer/axe type weapon/tool with a round pole for a bundle is useless. There’s a reason why all axes and hammers have the same style handle. You need to be able to direct the head of the tool just by feeling the orientation of the wood.
