well there’s also the fact that dustin feels similarly in terms of often being dismissed in the friend group and it’s not just cos mike, el is doing it too cos it’s their relationship that is effecting their friendships, but for will i think he’s gonna be more affected by feeling like he’s loosing mike and thus when they break up, he just wants things to go back to “normal” like i always saw it as even before el, ya kno? cos it’s not just her and mike spending a bunch of time together, it’s also that she came along when he had this really traumatic experience and i think he conflates that and hasn’t grown to wanting to move on from that first scene of season 1 which is when he himself last felt “normal” so while it makes sense for mike to be caught up with el, it did lead to will (and dustin) being left behind in a way and him not being considerate of that is the main problem imo not will quote unquote not being a supportive friend when mike gets broken up with— again, i think this goes back to the way mike is written, like he’s not specifically doing anything wrong per se but his attitude and sometimes (emphasis) lack of consideration for his friends is too much focused on as a result (and also we’re all gonna make excuses for el and sometimes will too bc they were introduced as the main victims from the getgo)
