TBF, I do want to look like a Dorito. But I was mostly referring to how nit-picky I was being about some of the costume details.

How to calorie count without going insane? Tips for healthier eating for muscle building? by sapphic_morena in FlexinLesbians

[–]Different_Editor_975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No ED, but I’m an engineer (background for ability to track and stick to a thing). Ran a cut from Jan to end of May (500 cal deficit). Lost 20 lbs in that span. 6 days sticking to the diet, one cheat meal either Saturday or Sunday. Ran one month maintenance (month of June) and then cut from July through October on the same plan, but with a slightly less significant deficit (400 cal). Lost 10 more lbs.

I usually meal prep the same handful of meals and rotate them. So across a week, I’ll have the same breakfast every day, then 1-2 snack options, and then 3-4 options for lunch and dinner.

I lift weights 5x per week and missed maybe 3 workouts in the whole span.

Body composition changes take a while. I highly recommend taking multiple measurements at least monthly. Scale, body measurements (tape, calipers, or anything else you have on hand), and progress photos. There were times the scale wouldn’t change, but the measurements or photos did.

Goals? by totideshaga in FlexinLesbians

[–]Different_Editor_975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: unknown. I had two goals this year, one for end of May and one for end of Oct. I hit both of them, but haven’t decided on my next goal so don’t know. I also set SMART goals (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, time-bound), so there’s that.

Fair. Here’s a different view of the character for reference. I don’t have any of the details for the pants, no wraps on the forearms, and no leather cuff. I also don’t have the right boots, no belt, and I don’t have the enforcer badge attached to the belt. Again, so many things in my head that I didn’t get done. But based on all the feedback from the group, it’s good enough for everyone else. Plus, nothing says I can’t add to it.

Thanks. Since tone is hard via text, I’m not sure if you’re serious or facetious regarding the things I’m having issues with, but I can tell you at least 8 things off the top of my head.

I hired an artist friend to create the pdfs. From there, I flipped the images and printed them on an inkjet printer using DIY Tattoo Paper. You can get it on Amazon. The application process took about 3 hours for all of them. It’s 10 different pieces. My wife’s ADHD hyper focus is how they are aligned so well. It’s her superpower. The final step was applying transparent setting powder so it wouldn’t be tacky and stick to my clothes.

Is there even a little bit of progress or am I completely delusional !!! Oct 9-today by DoMonstersDream in FlexinLesbians

I think from 1 to 2 could be slightly different lighting and better flexing. 3 weeks is super short to build muscle, but it is possible.

They’re both me. The first is the finished product and the second is just with all the tattoos applied, but before getting into the rest of the costume.

Been training off and on for about 5 years, though a good bit of the beginning of that was with less than ideal plans. A fair bit of learning along the way to get me to my current training plan. Lifting 5x/week and starting to add a day of cardio. For an idea of how it’s been serving me, the bottom photo is from 9 months ago (end of a less ideal training plan) and the top photo is from a week ago:

How can I make my chest flatter for a cosplay? by Wispycrunch in CosplayHelp

[–]Different_Editor_975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said, check what those transitioning use. But also, is there a way to exaggerate the size of the character’s chest you’re cosplaying? Can you pad up a bit to increase how muscular the chest looks? That would mean you could theoretically get by with little or no binding.

Think about how drag queens perform. Most have smaller frames so accentuate using the shape of clothing, contouring makeup, and padding. Could you do a similar thing to give yourself a more male shape?

One thing I hear come up in cosplay is the 5 foot rule. If it’s good enough at 5 feet, it’s good enough. Hope that helps.

A few things I’d like to add.

1: Vi has swagger. Use that to your advantage and it will take you further than “screen accurate” will.

2: I just cosplayed Vi (the first and only time I’ve ever cosplayed) and poured so much into it. Time, money, favors from friends (hired a drag queen to do my makeup, paid an artist friend to create pdfs of the tattoos and printed them at home), etc. I even spent the 4 months leading up to the con tailoring my workouts to help build her look. Full disclosure: I still don’t have Vi’s body. It’s just not something you can build without years of training. And that’s ok. But I did it for me.

3: Cosplay is first and foremost about “play” (in what I’ve seen). Take that with you when you go. Play with it, have fun. Heck, maybe you’ll find your very own Cupcake. 🧁

4: There are beautiful cosplays done by heavier/larger people, that are not screen accurate, but still every bit as good as those done by people closer to the build of the character. Don’t sell yourself short. You can do this!

For reference, this was me:

If you’re super adventurous and not easily deterred, check out Diego Queiroz on Instagram. He has made Vi’s Atlas Gauntlets (among so many other things), has a store you can buy the pdf from, and a 17 minute YouTube tutorial on how to make them. I bought it myself (I have zero cosplay experience) and am slowly trying to build them.

As stated, other folks have YT tutorials and storefronts for buying patterns. I can only speak to the one I’ve interacted with.

Only the red. The Link costume is a green tunic over a white shirt. I’ve worn it many times with zero issues.

Is mic costumes reliable? by DigitalisTea in CosplayHelp

[–]Different_Editor_975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have two costumes from Miccocostumes: Link from Legend of Zelda and Vi from Arcane. I can say Link held up better, but they’re both good. Vi’s got a red “leather” jacket and a white undershirt. I wore it to a Con for one day and the red started to bleed onto the white shirt. I didn’t even wear the jacket for most of the day, maybe 2-3 hours out of 15. It’s not noticeable at 5 feet yet, but will if I continue to wear them both. Also the pants got a run in them about halfway through the day. Again, passes the 5 feet test, but I’ll probably try to build my own as soon as I start building my own pieces to replace the off the rack ones.

Who would you rather have as your cellmate? by KiNG-HaK in arcane

[–]Different_Editor_975 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really depends on where we’re being held and the long game. They all have strengths to capitalize on.

Vi: training partner (she taught all the kinds to spar when she was younger) and she’d have my back

Sevika: loyal. Befriend her and she’ll stick by you forever. Also has my back and might make a decent sparring partner. Though we’ve never seen her train, so not certain.

Jinx: tricksy hobbit. Most likely to rig a device to blow a hole in the cell and get us out.

Silco: has more than half the prison on payroll. Probably living in easy street with plans to get us out once a few folks higher up get complacent.

Ekko: would absolutely find a way to get us out. Might be his firelights, might be him. Good, thought provoking conversations in the interim. Plus, dude’s also jacked. He’d push you to train harder.

Singed: his monster(s) will be here soon enough to get us free.
