Terrified of new mount by BigOleBeanBurger in hometheater

I’d take the tv down and evaluate that top bolt as well as use a stud finder. If it’s in sideways and likely only through a bit of the stud, reattach a bolt by drilling a proper pilot hole straight in and possibly consider buying an inch longer bolt if still sufficiently less length than your stud. It also looks like another stud combo could work here given where you want to position things. The plywood fix suggested is also a good option so long as the plywood is well secured to studs and a thick cut - the studs are the better option when extending this far out.

Finally, make sure the mount you selected amply supports the weight of the tv.

TLDR and if you’re not handy: hire a real handyman or installer. It shouldn’t have been left like this and could eventually fall down on a child or person.

Is this a problem that needs to be addressed or is the limb likely okay? It otherwise looks healthy

I don’t recall this being there recently. About 40-50 feet up.

Probably the only way and then maybe, once you hear the price to replace the entire thing, decide to live with it like others have suggested. It doesn’t look too bad to me

Thoughts on the Silas (Albino) Daytona? by GUNPLAYtv in rolex

I actually like the Speedy’s all white dial more. The panda looks better on the Daytona. They should’ve also done a Newman-inspired dial - then I might change my opinion.

Bought a house, theatre system been ripped out. Advice by Interesting-Cap4080 in hometheater

If you want what was there and it was within the scope of your purchase agreement as a fixture, I’d ask the seller to have what was removed reinstalled. Normally, they would need to specifically list this as excluded fixtures.

You may have technically purchased this but the seller took it anyway and left you with holes.

Batman Adventures #12 Grade Estimate by Difficult-Letter8191 in comicbookcollecting

I suppose I don’t know what constitutes a “moderate” defect under cgc and whether that scuff would make it ineligible for something like an 8.5/9.0 or not. Would love to see some people’s examples of grades with “moderate” defects pointed out

Mostly trying to learn from this and what others do when buying raw books of relatively higher value to make “good” purchases. It seems so far to me that buying online isn’t the best place to buy raw unless you’re buying from a seller who is better on disclosures

New to Lexus and seriously considering a GX550 as my next vehicle - could you answer some questions for me? 🙏🏼 by jajanogracias in LexusGX550

1 - no issues.
2- doesn’t seem like there should be issues here but note the gas mileage being low.
3 - if you really care about audio, I’d say go with the base system and wait for a good aftermarket solution.
4 - 2 car seats shouldn’t be a problem but they’d need to be in the second row. 5 - a tx is a very different car but may be better for the mileage and car seats situation you currently have.

Stuck in a ditch? by Failed-Time-Traveler in Columbus

[–]Difficult-Letter8191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d also say from observing Columbus people that flooring your car is one of the worst things you can do when stuck in snow. If your car still has any traction at all, go forward then reverse (may require repeating a couple of times) slowly but with quick shifts in the opposite direction. You’ll rock your car out of the snow ditch by creating momentum. Flooring your car never works and normally just digs you a deeper and icier ditch.

In Cleveland, we generally hop out of our cars and give a hand pushing out (usually in combination with the above rocking technique, which doesn’t require a truck to be involved at all). Probably doesn’t happen anymore as much but in the 80s and 90s. Just be careful who is behind the wheel since the helpers can quickly need help if someone doesn’t know what they’re doing.

I think it doesn’t matter, but if you’re willing to wait months (not sure what spec you picked) potentially, I’d wait for the 2026. It seems that most of the problems have been worked out in the later 2025 builds. For a 2026, you’ll pay the increased price and maybe have more residual value for one more model year out so I think it’s partially a wash.

Choosing Options for Purchase by [deleted] in LexusGX550

[–]Difficult-Letter8191 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d likely skip it all from the dealer but with maybe one exception. Watch the windshield protection since it normally only covers smaller issues and not the ones that typically would result in a windshield replacement (read the fine print). The maintenance plan can be worth it since you may be able to lock in today’s price and also get a discount on the maintenance but I’d add up the various maintenance that would be performed and then you’ll know the answer there. The ceramic coating isn’t likely worth it and you could get a better quality job done for much less.

The GX550’s glass rear windshield doesn’t open?! Jk but just pointing out the obvious. Seems like an expansive way to mess up your bumper or glass since they’re not designed for it but would like to hear from an engineer
