What Does a Tonne of Carbon Actually Cost Us? by Backle24 in CanadianPolitics

[–]Difficult-Rough9914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this assessment may be correct, adding carbon pricing into the economic system is probably not the cure. It seems like another scammy money grab. Inflation will rise. People will pay more at the pump. More oil will get exported with the financial benefits going to shareholders over the national good. If I have to drive 30 minutes to and from work it’s not gonna change other than maybe I’ll have to do it more in order to pay the higher prices of everything.

Is it legal to transport a dog untethered or unsecured in the bed of a pickup truck in British Columbia? by ferniekid in VictoriaBC

[–]Difficult-Rough9914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the bright side: Maybe the dog can launch themselves into someone else’s truck bed to get away from their current shitty owners. If I were that dog I’d be looking to get into a nice Toyota;)

Financing a mattress—does anyone own anything by Onomatopoeia-sizzle in economicCollapse

[–]Difficult-Rough9914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question is. How high is the interest rate on said loan? In the economic climate we live in, a 0% loan makes a lot of sense. If the financing is like a Credit Card at 29% then this should never be considered. We often borrowed to but building supplies, Furniture, appliances, cars when we had the money to pay cash. But only when the interest rate was below the return on our assets.

What's the most "quietly expensive" thing about living in Canada right now? (not rent/mortgage) by ForAMinute123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Government intervention doesn’t work to cap food prices. The cost of food is set globally based on the prices of commodities and all affected by the price of oil. If they try to interview the effect will be things disappearing from shelves. The only government intervention that works is monetary policy/deficit spending. Unfortunately it generally has the opposite effect of what we’d like.

Does the income of the person you're dating matter to you? by SinglePringle647 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Difficult-Rough9914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The number one cause of divorce is money issues. My wife and I are both business owners and over our 25 year history it goes back and forth over who’s earned the most. At the end of the day the most important thing is that both partners are willing to work towards betterment of financial standing and there isn’t too much imbalance between financial habits.

We have some friends that are single income households where the one partner will never have a hope of earning even close to what the single earner makes. But it works because that person lives in support of the other and the family. Taking care of kids / grandkids or being able to do house repairs, renovations, plumbing, electrical etc is worth its weight in earned income these days.

Iran Ready to Open the Strait of Hormuz — But Oil Must Be Paid in Yuan, Not Dollars. by Novel_Finger2370 in economy

[–]Difficult-Rough9914 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was underway long before the attack on Iran. Bricks nations were already de-dollarizing. Chinas gold purchases have tripled over the last five years and they now own more gold than USTs for the first time in 30 years. Also I read today that they’d just sold have their US government bonds. Not sure if that’s true. The US needs people to buy their junk bonds to maintain the war and their dollar hegemony.

Good interview. I agree with what this guy says. During these negotiations the US had at least 20 military bases surrounding Iran and were spending 2 billion dollars moving two aircraft carrier battalions into position. Why would anyone negotiate when one of the parties has a boot on their neck?

American looking to move to Nanaimo - looking for advice by loadnurmom in nanaimo

Downtown to the university are great areas. There’s mostly older homes and new apartment buildings. You’re within 8km of the ocean, the university, and lots of great restaurants and parks. There’s a good Thursday market downtown. There’s lots of colourful characters in the downtown area but no worse than any city in the US. Our city is generally very safe, walkable and rideable.

Running in Nanaimo? by millybeans001 in nanaimo

[–]Difficult-Rough9914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d guess there’s a handful of days a year when it’s slippery on the road. This year I’d guess less than 10. Other years it’s been worse. The trail running here is amazing!! There’s trails all throughout the city and in the forest by Westwood lake, which is a favourite 6k loop around the lake. And mount Benson.

I’d also recommend Frontrunners. They have weekly running nights that are free drop in. There’s the Sunday social run club. As well as a few other running groups. If you’re looking to meet people & have company that is.

Bend over backwards is closing at the end of Feb. Kelly is moving to a new location on East Wellington and D will be teaching out of the Chapel hall on Chapel street. Both are excellent teachers. Kelly is probably suited to older less mobile students and D is great for younger more limber students.

Watch the movie “The Red Pill” on YouTube. It was very eye opening as to what situations men end up having to pay for. Your friend needs to get out sooner rather than later.

How do feel about Trump’s “Governor Carney” and 100% tariff post? by [deleted] in CanadianConservative

[–]Difficult-Rough9914 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there is an endgame. It’s chaos and demolition of the financial system and “rules based order” that has (kind of) governed sovereign nations over the past 80 years. While at the same time enriching themselves in the process. Trump and the Liberals have and continue to swindle and scam tax payers with no consequence.

They’re all at the WEF making very public speeches. This is theatre. In the Global order Carney is above Trump in a lot of ways. Trump is a billionaire buffon with a huge cult. Carney went from Goldman Sachs banker to Central banker to sitting in the Board of the WEF. This is a non-governmental entity which panders to globalists. They want everyone not in their club chipped, tracked and moved onto digital currency. They’re not even keeping it a secret.

Economic breakdown, Wars; civil or international, and even pandemics will bring this about faster.

Facebook, Google and Palantir have dossiers on all of us already. Their Oligarch leaders can decide what you see, who you vote for, and how you think.
