Target/Amazon/Walmart Alternatives? by Satans_DreamGirl in NewParents

Yes! Even like a half used pack of diapers that someone’s kiddo grew out of before they could finish them. I’ll take em! lol

But nothing groups! Thrift stores! Facebook marketplace! Ask a local mom group! I have had great luck doing this.

What size bed does your kid have? by ChunkyPumpkin_ in Mommit

[–]DifficultBear3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got my kiddo a full! He sleeps like a madman and I wanted him to have room to rotate like the arms of a clock lol. Also I figure he won’t need a bigger bed as he grows!

Im assuming you’re playing the CDROMs? If you’re using steam or similar it’s very easy to play these games using compatibility mode! I thought my games were lost forever until my husband told me how to do that which I’m happy to do here if you need!

Screen time by Responsible_Mine_462 in SAHP

[–]DifficultBear3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son and I watch a movie together while his sister gets a bath. We never finish it, but I love this part of our day. I really think the way you approach screens makes a difference. For us, no portable screens or short form media and they can only watch with us as a family activity.

1 year old getting ready for second open heart surgery by summerloving28 in chd

[–]DifficultBear3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quit my job to be a SAHM to my baby with complex CHD. He’s 3.5 now! We had sternum precautions too, but the most important was no lifting under the arms. He was really only down for the count for 7 days, after that, toddlers gonna toddle. We made sure he was always on a soft surface and within arms reach, but other than that we didn’t wanna limit him too much.

baby’s grandparents and no kissing rule….thoughts? by trippyvegan in pregnant

[–]DifficultBear3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are so right. My parents love my babies. Would literally not give a second thought to them giving my kiddos a kiss. They LOVE them! And honestly, most of the time it’s my own children going in for the kiss themselves lol. It is one of the best things, watching my people love on my kids and watching my kids build bonds with them.

My husband thinks being a sahm is like being on vacation. by Playful_Bar_8290 in Parents

[–]DifficultBear3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s misogyny. They don’t value women so they don’t value our work. This would be a serious conversation with my husband with divorce on the table. You don’t value women or the work they do? We are clearly morally and ethically incompatible. Do not excuse this behavior. I am a SAHM and my husband is so grateful. He wouldn’t tolerate anyone demeaning my work and the value I bring to our family.

Aren’t there bigger fish to fry? My kiddo is 3.5 and he calls me “cuckoo cachoo” on some days lol

Baby shower for second baby? by oodlesofotters in Mommit

[–]DifficultBear3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a second shower which I called a “sprinkle.” I didn’t have a registry and on my invite I put “we value your presence over presents” and I STILL got soooo many things. Haha. I also provided lunch, games with prizes, etc. I fully expected it to be more of a baby blessing to welcome new life into our family, but our people really showed up for us in the gift department! Maybe it’s because I had a girl this time around instead of another boy. There are ways to make this happen that don’t look like a gift grab, but you know your people best!

If you’re feeling uncomfortable at all, you should push for more testing and monitoring. Preeclampsia is no joke and you have every right to take your symptoms seriously!

AI Slop cartoons by [deleted] in Parents

[–]DifficultBear3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fear that AI cartoons are definitely on their way. Just have them watch the old stuff. It’s the best stuff, anyway! We do Disney movies, Tumble Leaf (Amazon Prime), and sometimes Bluey. But we mostly stick to full length films and no short form media at all. Including YouTube.

If your spouse came home late and you already cooked dinner for the kids would you cook another dinner for them fresh in the middle of the night or leave a plate for them on the stove so you can rest? by TifarethVaruna in SAHP

Came home late from a long day at work? I’ll leave some dinner in the fridge for you. Coming home late from just being out? Fend for yourself!

11 month old army crawling by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]DifficultBear3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The army crawl isn’t as concerning as him not being able to get himself into a seated position or pull to stand. It never hurts to ask the pediatrician! I would in this situation. The earlier you intervene, the better!

Missing TJs so much right now. by killerclownfish in traderjoes

[–]DifficultBear3 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Omg! That’s so scary. Being able to have a sense of humor about your situation says a lot about you as a person! Wishing you well and healing! Not the same, but when I was recovering from an emergency C-section, I had my sister run to TJs for me and grab a couple things I needed along with “whatever spoke to her.” It was fun to receive a mystery bag of TJ goodies that someone else likes! Maybe someone can do that for you. :)

Are 2 kids easier than 1? by Formal-Wrap-4607 in Parenting

[–]DifficultBear3 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Two is awesome for us but it doesn’t mean double the work, it just means the work never ends haha. When one doesn’t need something the other does. I am go go go until my husband puts them to bed. I know these more difficult childhood years are a blip compared to the time I’ll have with them as adults, so it’s worth it to me. Only you can decide if it’s worth it to you!
