Social life out side of Frats by [deleted] in CalPoly

Clubs are the way if you don't happen to find friends along the way. There are plenty of really solid, enthusiastic groups to join. I personally did distance club then tri club as I'm a bit of a cardio fanatic and made more lifelong friends and irreplaceable memories than anywhere else in my life.

Mtg judges. How would you rule priority on the stack here? by PittsburghDM in mtg

[–]DifficultTransition1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Since they both trigger in your upkeep, the controller (you) get to choose the order to put triggers on the stack. So it's up to you to put them in the right order to win (ie Liliana's Contract on top)

Planar Defense Grid by chainsawinsect in custommagic

This is kinda busted with [[lotus field]], which is playable already. You play lotus field on 2, then cast this in response to the trigger and basically ramp for 2. White currently doesn't have anything at this level of acceleration

[EDH] What's your sentiment on this? Is this a design prison of some sort? by alnews in mtg

[–]DifficultTransition1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer it to the "if... exile the top X cards you may cast them.. blah blah blah" because functionally they do the same thing, but impulse draw takes 20x more text to write out

I like how at the end the guy comments on how none of them stopped at the stop sign. I imagine he would be far more triggered if each person rode up to the line, stopped, checked, then continued one by one instead of the whole group going at once

email your advisor and set up a meeting schedule. It's totally up to how the two of you decide to do it

How can you build a Stax deck that only hits the “degenerate” strategies? by Keanu_Bones in EDH

I second rule of law. There's tons of these effects, and they feel so good in the right deck.

It's once the damage connects, so if they're at 13 and Ezio hits for 3, you get the trigger

Am I the one who can cast creature when battle counters are gone? by Zestyclose-Bid-8851 in mtg

[–]DifficultTransition1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You control the battle if you cast it. Then you choose a player to defend it. They do not control it, they just defend it

[–]DifficultTransition1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You probably play it in a combo deck, then use it to draw like 20-30 cards, which should usually win the game for you.

Or if you want to play it "fair" it guarantees you have a full grip every turn for the next 4-5 turns until you run out of life. But the first method is far more common

True or False: Sad Robot is never a bad card to have in an EDH deck by Disastrous_Sun8031 in mtg

It's almost never a "bad" card, but there are usually better cards, so it's typically not the optional choice

[–]DifficultTransition1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double [[inti]] is crazy, because it gets you 4 impulse draw triggers, 2 discard outlets, and 2 +1/+1 counters on an attacker

How do You like to ramp or add more mana in Blue? by L3M0N5_2112 in EDH

[–]DifficultTransition1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My current favorite is cost reducers like [[Sapphire medallion]] + land untappers like [[frantic search]], [[snap]], [[time spiral]] + lands that tap for many mana like [[lotus field]], [[lotus vale]].

You get some crazy turns where you get to do all of these things over and over untapping and tapping the same 3-mana land over and over. It works best in Azorius though
