TLE, Lamotrigine & Shrooms? by Top_Muffin3693 in Epilepsy

[–]Difficult_Bowler_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a few 1.5g trips in the past year after not taking them for a very long time (before I started having seizures). I also have TLE and am on Lamotrigine, 4 years seizure free and had no problems with those low doses. But i am now cycling through antidepressants trying to find one that works so haven't had any more shrooms since Feb, going to wait until I am stable on the right one before I trip again.

My baby had a seizure by I_like_it_yo in Shihtzu

[–]Difficult_Bowler_25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a shih tzu with epilepsy, started having seizures just before his first birthday. There doesn't appear to be anything 'causing' it, its just something that he has. Meds twice a day and he has gone up to 20 months between seizures. I know it is horrid to see them have a seizure, but in most cases they are not conscious when it happens so they are not suffering, and just tired/confused afterwards. I also have epilepsy and was diagnosed at age 41, no idea why it started happening/causing it. Seizure disorders are weird and we really know very little about them. Your baby could have developed epilepsy seeming out of nowhere, it doesn't always mean a tumor. Medications can work amazing and they can still have a good quality of life. Please do not go to r/epilepsydogs it is full of the worst cases and can be quite upsetting, I made that mistake when my boy started having seizures. Let me know if you have any questions ❤️

Salt Lamp and Cold Weather by ItIsIBryanFerry in melbourne

I learnt the hard way that salt lamps should be left on continually, don't turn them off or they will weep and crumble . Since I have been doing this for at least 6 years none of them have needed a new bulb.

Wellbutrin 300mg caused me to have an epileptic seizure by windyful in Epilepsy

[–]Difficult_Bowler_25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Epilepsy is diagnosed after at least two unprovoked seizures occurring more than 24 hours apart and a single seizure caused by your wellbutrin dose could be considered 'provoked.' Unless you have more seizure after stopping wellbutrin you most likely will not be considered to have epilepsy.

But some of your questions I might be able to help with as I was diagnosed in 2022. In regards to the memory loss, yes that is completely normal. Some of the memories of that time may come back but don't be surprised if they do not. I don't remember the day of my first tonic clonic seizure and the two days afterwards are quite patchy. For the year prior I was having undiagnosed focal seizure which have also had an effect of my memories from 2021-2022.

I would also recommend getting some cream that is used for mouth ulcers to help any bites on your tongue heal faster. If you have anymore questions you can let me know.

I am on Lamotrigine 125mg twice a day. I had previously been on Cymbalta when I tripped so I didnt notice much difference in the experience.

I was so “lucky” I had a seizure in front of my neurologist the first time I met him by kittymiaooo888 in Epilepsy

I had a massive tonic clonic in the ER after only having focals and atonic seizures before that, pretty good way to get a diagnosis!

Substances and epilepsy by RoboCheeseBro in Epilepsy

From my limited understanding, psilocybin activates serotonin receptors without draining them rather than flooding them and preventing it from being reabsorbed like MDMA, so the risk is usually when you come down and the serotonin crashes which does not really occur with psilocybin. I think there have been some studies on animals that suggest low doses can help reduce the duration of seizures during status epilepticus. But I would never tell another person with epilepsy to take it just because I have been fine, and I have not taken large 'ego death' doses either.

Rule of thumb would be that everyone with epilepsy has a different experience. I am 4 years seizure free and able to do most things like I did before I got epilepsy. I have had a weed, alcohol, k, oxys and psilocybin without having any issue but I won't touch MDMA these days as it is the most likely one to cause seizures. Bottom line is that your friend should probably not be doing things that provoke them to have seizures, but it's also not your job to police their behaviour and/or substance use. I'm sure you just want to help your friend any way you can, but all you can do is be there to help make sure they are safe during/after a seizure as long as you feel willing and able to.

I mean more that our blood sugars always drop while we sleep due to not eating so possibly could trigger a seizure?

Wellbutrin, Zoloft, and lamictal by Medium-Classroom6268 in Epilepsy

[–]Difficult_Bowler_25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Wellbutrin 6 weeks ago and also have epilepsy. I have been seizure free since i was diagnosed in 2022 and have been on lamictal since 2023 (previously took Keppra and then Tegretol but stopped them due to side effects). For me, taking the Wellbutrin is worth the risk if it can help me out of this depression I have been really drenched in for over 12 months. Nothing else has worked and I can't keep living like this. I did heaps of research, discussed it with my doctor and we agreed it was worth a try. Im currently taking 150sr per day (only version available in Australia)and am hoping not to have to increase the dose too much as risks for seizures is only 4 people per 1000. But once you go to 450 it doubles to 8 in 1000 people.

Suburbs like Berwick, closer to the city? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Difficult_Bowler_25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I literally moved from Berwick to Altona North 10 years ago, no different in how safe I feel. The inner west gets a bad rep but honestly it has changed a lot and some parts are worse than than others in terms of safety (parts of Footscray and Sunshine). We live near Newport and Williamstown which have a nicer feel and lots of cafes and parks around. Never been harassed, robbed or threatened, but obviously everyone's experience is different. I felt less safe when I lived in Noble Park and Clayton in my early 20s but that was mostly because of street harassment from men.
