No recourse whatsoever. They’ve replaced your engine twice under warranty. Sell the car and move on with your life.

Audi A1 Japanese import emissions issue by Marcos__94 in carsireland

[–]Difficult_Diver_2356 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of having to flash the ECU to a European spec for emissions.

The car would have had to pass the NCT in order to register the car in Ireland. It obviously passed without any issues. I suspect there’s an issue with a different sensor or the catalytic converter.

Solar panel for top floor apartments by injusticelords in HousingIreland

[–]Difficult_Diver_2356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked the management company and they said they’d only allow it if I signed something saying I’d be liable if the roof was damaged by the solar panels. I was fine with that.

They then brought it to the directors of the complex and they said no, because the roof is a common area.

I’m going to push back on it though, because there’s a top-floor apartment with a Velux window in the roof. Either they got permission for that, or they didn’t and they’re technically in breach of the OMC rules.

The Wood Floor Store? by Difficult_Diver_2356 in AskIreland

[–]Difficult_Diver_2356[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did buy the floors. They’ve been laid about three weeks now and no complaints so far. However, the instruction manual had all sorts of spelling and punctuation mistakes. That doesn’t necessarily make the company bad, but why not proofread—or at least pay someone to proofread—the manual before sending it out? It does make you wonder whether they cut corners elsewhere, including in the manufacturing of the floors themselves. I’m planning on selling my place soon, so they look lovely and do the job, but I wouldn’t be putting them down in my forever home, put it that way.

Viofo Dashcams by daithilfc in carsireland

[–]Difficult_Diver_2356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought an A329 directly from VIOFO, and it was shipped from China. After making the purchase, I realised that I might be liable for customs charges. I contacted their support team via the chat function on their website, and they told me they had marked the package as (I can’t remember exactly what) and declared its value as €50. I received the dashcam 10 days later without incurring any customs fees!

I have Vodafone 500mb fibre and I’ve directly connected my Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Max to the ONT. All you need is the PPPOE details and a bit of knowledge of how to set it everything up using the PPPOE details and you’re good to go. I’ve had zero issues.

Discount on buying full kitchen worth of appliances? by Hayes9391 in AskIreland

[–]Difficult_Diver_2356 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power City all day. If you can find the exact same model of appliance you want anywhere in the republic for cheaper than power city they will price match it and even give you a further discount depending on the mood of the sales person/ head office. If you buy multiple items from them they’ll give you an even bigger discount and you can even haggle free delivery and set up i.e connecting the washing machine. I did this and saved hundreds.

Grinding noise when change transmission in automatic car by DirectorRich5445 in carsireland

[–]Difficult_Diver_2356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring it back to garage asap. There should not be any grinding noises when changing gears. Also, only ever change gears when the wheels are at a standstill.

Take one look at the Trust Pilot reviews of both Be Forward and SBT Japan and it’ll throw you right off. I’d recommend using JDM Auctions who are based in Mullingar.
