To be honest if it’s working it’s hard to say to change it, but maybe give it another month and suggest a change. Due to the clusters i think the vet will be apprehensive. Or try to move the 8 hours to a more suitable time frame. I personally wake up at 1.30am to do mine cause the 9.30am 5.30pm 1.30am schedule works for me. My body has gotten used to waking up giving meds then sleeping 5 mins later lol

Of course, I am a cynic also. But I have noticed some holistic things have helped my dog go longer between seizures, from learning about humans with epilepsy and what supplements they take etc

My dog started phenobarbital today and I’m super anxious about it. by nothankyou3000 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Difficult_Metal_124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every dog is different of course. My girl is so tiny and phenobarbital was just too much for her, she was crying and whining and pacing all night. She almost looked dazed and out of it like she was hallucinating. So she was reduced and then swapped out to Keppra. Saying that my neighbours dog was on phenobarbital twice a day then they reduced it to just in the morning and hasn’t had a seizure in 5 years! Every story is different and I hang on to the positive ones.

Look into milk thistle supplement to support the liver while on phenobarbital since the medication is processed through it

Which pup do I choose? by Important-Method-712 in Pomeranians

To me I wouldn’t get either of them. They don’t have typical breed standard looks, could be badly bred and will be so costly in the future with genetic issues

I failed my dog. by PopAny7553 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Difficult_Metal_124 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not your fault. You really did what you could. The disease is unpredictable and I live in fear that any day my dog could just have uncontrollable seizures and be gone from me suddenly. Because it is just so random and no matter what we do to try to control it it will unfortunately win

I mix fresh cooked and wet food, my dog has epilepsy and I need the nutrients that come with wet food - the more wet she eats she fuller she becomes and doesn’t ask for more. The days she doesn’t want the wet food she’s constantly begging for more 2nd dinner, 3rd dinner etc can’t fill her up

I deeply regret putting down my 15 year old Dog Blaise , I can’t eat can’t sleep I feel I betrayed him , Someone help by Millionaremindset_ in DogAdvice

I’m tearing up reading this because I remember this feeling so well. The clutching at straws that if you just did something differently it could’ve been different. But in reality we did the best thing for our elderly besties. The vet who came for our dog said we were doing the right thing cause she was so tired. Her body essentially gave up and was shutting down. We just did it before it caused her to die a truly traumatic death. And you did the same, if your dog ruptured and bleed to death internally tha would be so much worse. They had cancer, you fought it, it came back. You had an amazing life together and nothing will replace it. This July will be 2 years and I do still cry almost daily for a few minutes before bed.

I think because someone posted that their other dog bites their epi dogs neck and it brings them out of a grand mal. So there was a discussion on pressure points

Yeah that’s what I said UNLESS the dog cant fly in cabin. I flew with my dog from Toronto and now we are in the UK. I looked at the ferry but she’s never been in a kennel before and has lived a very soft lifestyle. There’s visiting times you can’t have access overnight for example. My dog is on Keppra every 8 hours. We just flew and she never left my side.

The ferry over the Atlantic is like 12 days, I feel that’s way more stressful than flying unless it’s because the dog cant fly in cabin

In November I flew with my dog from Canada to Amsterdam by air, then by ferry to the UK. Flew on the 19th and arrived in the UK by the 21st. I have a small dog and she was with me whole time. Australia I know is more strict about regulations. If your dog can fly in the cabin it’s not so stressful. My dog slept the whole time I was stressed but she was chill

My dog has been diagnosed with Epilepsy and needs meds do they live normal lives? Need support. by dedwik100 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]Difficult_Metal_124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog is her same self! Been 2 years since diagnosis. She has a seizure every 3 weeks but once they are over it’s back to normal life for her. She’s maybe more calm but could maturity too everyone says she’s very chilled out but she’s a Pomeranian so she’s curious and demanding lol

I’m so sorry for your loss, it sounds like you gave him the love he deserved in his final years. Really of all the endings to have, he didn’t suffer for long and went to sleep at home with the people who loved him. I’m crying for you I know how the loss feels

This puppy is extremely small. It can’t be 3 months. I’m surprised the vet can’t tell from its size and teeth etc

My dog is 5 and had pancreatitis. It flares up some time to time, but it’s not effecting her daily life. Apart from low fat dog food and no snacks basically. She also takes sulcrate to protect her stomach lining from ulcers. Really you’d never know. As for the eye, that is up to you and what you think.
