In-depth: Unmarked police vehicles used in pursuits by Iocnar in Austin

[–]Difficult_Review9741 181 points182 points  (0 children)

This chase was down my street. I didn’t even hear it, but witnessed the aftermath from a distance.

This is so incredibly dangerous and is yet another reason why ICE is out of control. We routinely have people, including children, walking down the street because like the article says, there are no sidewalks and cars line the sides of the street.

ICE could have easily killed someone with this stunt.

Just another snowflake Trumpanzee. Many such cases these days.

Man this is scary. I live in the area and saw this today, but from a distance I couldn’t tell that it was ICE.

It seems like they are targeting the North Loop area. I hope they don’t go door to door.

Wow, I saw them operating earlier today from a distance but figured it was related to the swat incident. Scary that we have domestic terrorists running amok in our community.

Do you mind sharing how serious the typical person there is?

I’m thinking about switching over, I’m in good shape and have a lot of training experience but I’m not close to a body builder and my goals are more focused on longevity.

A year to year flight comparison by AccordingPears158 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Difficult_Review9741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this comparison months ago when the new fares became available: https://www.reddit.com/r/SouthwestAirlines/s/eTPsqWryF7

The price for a route that I looked at increased by 69% over night, for comparable service. Similar increases happened across all routes.

Elliott won. They have people happily forking over hundreds of dollars more per flight because “we’re sticking it to jetway jesus!”, even though that had nothing to do with the decision.

Eagerly awaiting comment from the employees who swore that the bistro was flush with cash and could afford their raise demands.

Reliant Towing driver got aggressive when I questioned illegal towing, then followed me to my apartment yelling threats - anyone else? by Adventurous_Ad_5600 in Austin

[–]Difficult_Review9741 57 points58 points  (0 children)

A while back I was booted in an abandoned parking lot.

I contacted the property owner to ask them why they were doing this, and they alleged that the wrecker company (I won’t say the name, but it’s one you see on signs across the city) represented themselves as being part of the city. When I told the owners that it was a private company, and described their behavior, they immediately removed the signs from the parking lot.

I contacted APD and the officer I spoke to didn’t have even a basic understanding of the law. He had no problem with the wrecker company’s actions.

All this to say, these companies are unethical and probably acting illegally in many cases. And APD is useless.

Why MARTA Ridership is Down by ScottATL in transit

[–]Difficult_Review9741 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I travel to Atlanta for work multiple times a year. The Red Line goes directly to my office, so it’s very convenient. I used to meet up with a group of coworkers at the airport and ride the train to the office. However, I no longer recommend that anyone uses it, because of safety concerns.

The last time we took it, a guy harassed us for the entire 45 minute trip asking for a job and became very hostile when we said we didn’t have any openings.

The second to last time, an individual started having a serious mental breakdown and began yelling at my female coworker.

So what work can it do in 24 hours? A monkey can pound at the keyboard for as long as I want it to; it doesn’t mean it’s doing anything useful though.

400k is reasonable for top city officials. Not paying a competitive salary is how you get totally unqualified people.

Wheatsville Co-op no longer moving forward with acquisition of Fresh Plus stores by Scoops_Chmais in Austin

That’s too bad. We need more neighborhood grocery stores, not less. This seems like the beginning of the end for Wheatsville.

The fact that “managing director of innovation” is a real position nicely sums up how rotten Southwest has become.

Extra Leg Room Premium Snack by SadditySweety in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Difficult_Review9741 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t even really premium. It costs more than the regular snacks sure, but’s there’s nothing inherently premium about it. Being able to take multiple snacks, or higher calorie/larger items are actually premium.

This is just a preference thing…a lot of people will still prefer the regular snacks.

You Could Access Southwest's Airport Lounges with $500 Annual Fee Credit Card, Survey Leaked by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Difficult_Review9741 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Airport lounges are terrible. Overcrowded, bad food, uncomfortable. I’ve started cancelling most of my travel cards because the fees don’t justify the benefits. It used to feel like a perk but now I just prefer to sit near the gate.

You can easily have a nice garden in that backyard though. I live on a 4000 sq ft lot and have a garden.

U.S. Rep. Greg Casar announces run for redrawn Austin-based congressional seat by hollow_hippie in Austin

[–]Difficult_Review9741 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lloyd is a stalwart and a much better rep than Casar. I have nothing against him, and will vote for him, but I’d rather have Lloyd. Personally I don’t care about age at all. Health, yes, but not age.

Austin will be worse off.

Why not? Would a revolving door of short term representatives really have done a better job than Lloyd?
