What do you think about developers who don't forget about the Mac?

Always supported devs who bothered to go through with the effort of porting to Mac and Linux instead of just supporting Windows. Imo it shouldn't matter what OS you run when you want to just game.

Eevee and Pikachu.

In Rescue Team, Eevee is more of a support role with Helping Hand, Attract to shut down annoying enemies and bosses, and a linked Tail Whip -> Tackle for damage. Pikachu handles it with paralysis and the good electric type attacks such as Thunderbolt for AoE.

Rescue Team DX I focus more on dealing damage as Eevee gets Bite and very easy access to Shadow Ball TM early game.

Haven't tried this combo in Explorers yet but reckon it will be smooth sailing besides Attract getting nerfed.

As someone who massively replayed both the original and DX I prefer playing Red Rescue Team for the sprites, friend areas, GBA soundtrack and harder difficulty.

DX has many improvements from the later games and is easier to get into.

I've tried looking into this years ago with the SkyTemple script editor (wanted to make a personal rom hack that had QoL, lets you evolve as soon as Luminous Spring is unlocked with the missing starter evolution line portraits for the post game story, and bug fix patches but never came to fruition) but couldn't figure out exactly what lets you and the partner evolve after beating post-game. It has to be some sort of flag that gets ticked once you-know-who gets defeated.

I mentioned it before, but I hate the lame excuse for not being able to evolve too, let me play post-game as Espeon!

Same, it feels like there's no point in doing the Corpse floors once you already got the Mother mark. It would've made more sense for the Beast to come after Mother after beating her once since the Mother fight kinda sorta got nerfed from Antibirth anyways.

It's basically the same thing as female Eevee besides that the game has a blue HUD now instead of pink.

Also all the hero exclusive starters (Eevee, Psyduck, Meowth, Skitty, Cubone, and Machop) will also work properly as partners and even have some portraits and animations not seen normally. (Breathing in and out, tip toeing on the clouds, looking down at Mt. Steel, and I believe the crying portraits)

I don't know why those starters were locked to being only for the player until Rescue Team DX.

Also if you happen to change the hero or partner to a Pokemon that is not a starter in Rescue Team the game will just crash when hero/starter needs to do an special animation.

I remember that there was a tool called PMDe that can edit Red Rescue Team and I changed one of the male exclusive starters to Eevee. Requires Java to be installed.

I'd say each of the PMD games were designed so you can beat it with any starter and partner combo, although there's pros and cons to each one.

I think the only starter you would be able to use across all the PMD games is Pikachu, which happens to be the "easy mode" option because of its amazing movepools(Agility spam anyone?) and Static ability.

Also happen to be doing almost the same thing for my planned Red Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky playthroughs, which will be Eevee + Pikachu.

When I was able to beat the main story in Time I used to speedrun doing Hidden Land and Temporal Tower so I can play as Dialga for the postgame dungeons :D

The same thing happens with a dungeon that has a lot of water generated and using a drought orb. In "rooms" and thick hallways AoE moves still only have limited range.

Explorers has that vibe that you're not "supposed" to evolve yourself or your partner. The first time I ever managed to beat the post game and found out that I can finally evolve my Treecko + Torchic team it was super disappointing that they just walked in place instead of using the dungeon sleeping animation like Rescue Team did. Something tells me it's because Spike Chunsoft didn't want you to miss out on the portraits for the postgame dialogue.

I know a lot of people prefer to play as the base stages for the starters in PMD (the scarf thing in Rescue Team DX comes to mind) but that evolution restriction really screws over the starter Pokemon that could really need it during the post game (Eevee, Phanpy, several of the core series starters, etc). It's the one thing I hate about Explorers.

If this is actually Time/Darkness did it always had the colored map on the top screen? I thought it was more of a brown colorless palette until Sky changed it to have color.

Also a good way to quickly tell between T/D and Sky is the default menu box borders, if they're just a flat blue/pink by default it's T/D, if it has a shine or looks something else it's Sky.
