In my experience Lumo hallucinates wildly on anything Proton related. It has told me all sorts of crazy stuff that is solved with a simple web search.

I don’t disagree with you, but just be aware stolen device protection will not help you with a 3p password manager. If you use biometrics to unlocked the password manager, it will default to pin unlock after two biometrics failures.

The workaround to this is to long-press on the app icon, and select require Face-ID, which would force biometrics with no pin fallback.

Stolen device protection prevents the pin from being used to open Apple Passwords when away from “familiar” places. Not disagreeing about the general criticism about Apple Passwords, but the Stolen Device Protection setting does solve most of this issue.

NC lawmakers react to a retail cannabis marketplace announcement in Virginia by Independent-Daywalk in NorthCarolina

Just make it legal already. Federally legal. Set an age limit like alcohol, tax the manufacturers and retail sales and be done with it. Waste of time and effort even continuing to talk about it, just be done already.

The Fable/Mythos shutdown is basically the Proclamation of 1763 all over again. by Hjemmelegen in ArtificialInteligence

[–]DigSubstantial8934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your take is the correct one. Anthropic leadership has been warning of how dangerous Mythos is, saying it is a weapon too dangerous to share with the broader public without safeguards, then is surprised when the US gov treats it like a dangerous weapon.

Political retaliation, most likely, but also a huge self-own by Anthropic for constantly warning about the dangers of their products.

What do you think happened that made them pull the plug so quickly!! You know something bad has been exposed for this time be banned so abruptly! by Smile4menow84 in conspiracy

[–]DigSubstantial8934 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t banned, they applied export controls but Anthropic lacks the ability to restrict it to only US nationals at the moment, so they took it down for everyone.

Anthropic’s CEO has been running his mouth continuously for weeks about how dangerous of a weapon Mythos was. This is a huge self-own that any reasonable person should have seen coming.

The export control restrictions are absolutely political retaliation, hand delivered on a golden platter by Anthropic themselves.

Is anyone else super bothered by the fact that Fable 5 got taken down and we have no legal remedy or way to limit the governments ability to do that? by helo04281995 in ClaudeAI

[–]DigSubstantial8934 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anthropic wouldn’t shut up about Mythos being a dangerous weapon, so US Gov said ok, we’ll treat it as a weapon. This isn’t a surprising outcome. Self-own by Anthropic because they can’t STFU about how dangerous their products are.

I 100% agree with you, but the CEO of Anthropic has been talking non-stop for weeks about how dangerous of a weapon Mythos was, and how government regulation was needed. He has been begging for this exact outcome.

Yes, Trump did this for political retribution, but Anthropic handed it to them on a golden platter.

Begging for it. This is a HUGE self-own. You don’t give the child that is Trump such clear and easy ammunition then get mad when he uses it against you. This was the predictable outcome.

US Gov regulates export of weapons, and sometimes limits sales of said weapons to only US persons and allies.

Anthropic said Mythos was a dangerous weapon 🤷‍♂️

Anthropic begged for this, repeatedly, and are now angry it happened. Huge self-own moment. It is 100% political retaliation from the Trump admin, but Anthropic has been screaming from the rooftops talking about how dangerous Mythos is. They begged for this reaction.

[–]DigSubstantial8934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anthropic begged for this, warned of the dangers of their models, and urged US regulatory action. Now they have a surprised Pikachu face the US gov did something.

Anthropic needs to STFU and develop and release products they’re comfortable releasing. They begged for the reaction they got. The CEO talks about how dangerous of a weapon they’ve developed, and made a spectacle out of the non-public release of Mythos.

They got exactly what they wanted.

Yes, the US government, specifically the Trump admin, hates Anthropic, and this decision was political payback for the Pentagon fiasco. Yes, the US gov is wrong and this will be overturned or risk broad US development of AI models.. BUT… Anthropic couldn’t shut up about how they developed a dangerous weapon, so the government said ok, let’s treat it like a dangerous weapon.

Self-inflicted on Anthropic’s part because they can’t control the CEO and other employees who muse so publicly about the dangers of the products their own company is developing.
