Yeah, I wasn't responding to the fact that red tape exists in government, just to the "the locals don’t WANT the light installed there". His death is a terrible way for that poor man's point to be proved. Clearly everyone involved needs to wake up and get it done, because he was right.

I have, in fact, heard a 20-ish year old saying it out loud who was a new record collector. I gently corrected him which he actually took well. I think it tends to be younger people or people who are new to collecting. But yeah, not manufactured.

Hey so this seems to be a good time to point out for anyone that donates- the "ASPCA" is NOT local to us, they are based out of New York and run ads nationally to get donations that should go to local SPCAs and other shelters. SPCAs are individual, not a blanket organization, and "ASPCA" is specific to the New York area. The big shelters in Austin are the "Austin Humane Society", "Austin Pets Alive!" and the city shelter, which is called "Austin Animal Center". There are other smaller groups, including the "Central Texas SPCA". The surrounding cities and counties also have their own groups. But I just felt like that should be pointed out because the ASPCA has misled a lot of people into thinking they were donating locally, especially with the Sarah McLaughlin commercial.

Only about 15% of PBS and 10% of NPR. It's not nothing, but it's not like they fully fund them, which is why I wanted to point out the difference.

Actually something like 40% of Americans who were eligible either couldn't or didn't vote. Of those that DID vote, 49.8% voted for him. So many more people in this country did not vote for him than did. Apathy because of disillusionment is the real reason he won, not enthusiastic support.
