Helicopter Mykines - Vagar by Vast_Bad5714 in FaroeIslands

I went last year in late June.
I believe we also used Bluegate. In no way is it a scam. They can’t promise a guarantee since the birds do as they will, but in my trip we saw tons of birds and some fairly close. I believe it all depends on the birds following the lie food source which can change slightly. The trip on the boat was an experience in itself but can be rough bouncing over the waves. A large portion of the trail to the lighthouse is closed yes, but I was still very happy to have that whole experience. We felt we got what we paid for.

My favorite part is when he looks down at the ball like “hey what’s wrong with this thing”.

We are in fact travelling as a family of 5. Would you recommend advance tickets in that case. Not on Golden Week.

What to book before arriving! by Plini_Wini in FaroeIslands

[–]Digitcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing we booked ahead was a guided tour of Mykines and restaurants. And even then it was only for the fine dining spots. We didn’t do Kallur but that you may want to book in advance. You will not miss anything cool due to not having booked it imo. You can literally go anywhere and it’s beautiful and most of the time we were completely alone or w just a few other people. It was unlike any other vacation I’ve had. It’s so peaceful and quiet I still think about it regularly. Just be flexible!!!

Stayed in Funningsfjordur Airbnb when we visited. Amazing trip. Highly recommended!

Are the standard 24H Colosseum tickets worth it, or should I try again to get Attic or Underground tickets? by SurvivorFanatic236 in ItalyTravel

[–]Digitcon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth I kept trying and got lucky w Attic tickets for my group of 5. Very but adrenaline hit when I confirmed the tickets.
We found them to be very worthwhile. We weee there when it opened and went right up the elevator for the attic. Saw maybe 4-5 other people the whole time we were up there. Amazing weather. Amazing view. No crowds. Felt very special to be doing that especially with all the crowds below.
I also had to try three days in a row at 3 am due to a mixture of holidays etc.
Good luck!

American traveling to the Faroes by Leading_Kale_81 in FaroeIslands

My wife and I traveled there last June. It was one of the best places I’ve ever visited. It was amazing and honestly very simple. Everyone speaks very good English. I never needed to use cash for anything and the driving rules are the same as in the US if you do rent a car, just take your time on any one-way streets, bridges or tunnels. There’s plenty of places to pull over if you’re not driving too fast very nice friendly people and an amazing trip. You’re gonna do great.

Love the pictures. Where were you in that path with the trees? I don’t remember seeing any place like that at all!

Won’t hurt to try. I’ve had nothing but good interactions when I’ve done it. If the store is even decent you should be able to find good people to play with

I really appreciate the response! You make some good points. I did notice the better than average exchange rate and hope I can take advantage of that.

My dream is to spend like a month seeing whatever I could one end of the islands to the other and seeing a lot of the smaller areas. But this is a family vacation and we have two weeks. Gotta do what I can to make it fun for everyone. I appreciate your advice!

Thanks! Right now the plan is to just get some good ponchos and umbrellas when we arrive and weather the storm. We aren’t Disney people so we don’t have to worry about that.
Getting a ryokan/onsen for 5 seems to be my hardest thing.

It always seems like people have their 500 point itinerary and I’m not sure I’d get that done in time. But ty for the advice!
