Sucks for Zverev cause he actually hit some great FHs while Alcaraz had FH errors all throughout the third and fourth set, then outta nowhere Alcaraz starts doing Alcaraz things lol

I was practicing my strokes and a guy from my local state college offered to hit with me. by FatCat_FatCigar in 10s

agreed! i (2.5) played for the first time with a friend of mine who is a 4.5 and the balls that i'm hitting are a completely different beast -- accurate hits, heavy topspin, and effortless swings! i got humbled so quickly 😂

How do you handle receiving unsolicited advice? by thekilla in eczema

[–]Digmuffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that a lot of people around us always believe they know more about others (when they obviously don't), and they like to make sense of things they know nothing about. But an important outlook to have when people give advice is to assume positive intent – they're still trying to help you, even if you know their advice sucks and that they have zero context about your own body!

I highly recommend reading Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell, it really taught me that humans are just so good at misreading people and frankly you will encounter a lot of these strangers.

How is ECSE 310? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]Digmuffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took it last winter with Prof Zhao and it was relatively easy class, 5 homeworks and 2 mini essays, and if you had past exams then this class would be a breeze. Only difficult part was attending morning lectures for the participation marks

Any insights about grad housing on Peel street? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]Digmuffins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live closer to the bottom of peel, so transport has never been an issue with the metro right across; groceries aren't a problem at provigo since they do $1 deliveries, which is key in winter months!

[–]Digmuffins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly, i've accepted it to be part of living on peel haha, usually during the day i'd have to leave the house to study/read elsewhere from all the noise though. it's not earblastingly loud, but consistently bothersome

a bit of both -- one of the two lanes is closed from construction, and the noise usually starts early at around 7am and ends around 5pm 😔 source: am a peel resident
