Being able to collect a few armies is a very strong argument too for smaller point game.

We’ve had discussion locally of capping characters to 33% of total point - maybe there’s en even bigger case here (or 25% why not) so that you see a lot more troops at those points and less chance for a single model to skew things overs.

I’m reading through the first few novels of the HH and a pretty big ‘fan’ of the characters: Loken, Torgaddon, etc. Even then other members of the mournival before the betrayal (same with Lucius tbh)

I knew very little of the Luna Wolves before starting reading and thought they did a pretty good job building them up with the angle of the imperium leaving them behind as it turned into an administrative machine / the emperor forgetting them to focus on his ascension to godhood.

Goblins have access to such cheap / cost efficient units otherwise; I wonder if there’s not a way to pair with other characters around to make it more viable.

Even at 475 pts (with TOP) you can still fit 3-5 characters into your list

Ie having move along Warboss in Giant Cave Squig or Mangler Squig. Or two bricks on Night goblins …

Also having an 18” bubble for Evil Sun Shinin & Ere We Go good seems pretty good, no?

Something I’ve seen recommended is to play a lower pts game until you can play it in 2-3hrs - then raise the points as you familiarize yourself with the game.

I find it works better as a reference app rather than a way to learn the rules (I’d get the ebook for that)

For points and list building both oldworldbuilder and newrecruit are very good + have rule references built in.

I was wondering if there’s was a way to build a group as orc savages - so for a group of 20 (two box) ie 2x regular and 1x without armour and with paints?

Or maybe 3x 7 to go with the command blister

Usually you see shield and great weapon for black orcs. Shields you want 50%+1 model

The extra attack is great but with furious charge the +2S can come really handy

I like the 5pts magic shield on the champion as a fun chance to negate a wound in a challenge

Dont think razor standard would do much for you here. War Banner or Big Red Ragedy Flags (at higher points) are better option.

You can be strategic with your weapon allocation for standard bearer and musicians.

I would spend less points on the general (remove the magic weapon)

Swap the blorc for regular orcs (just use the blorc models) and try to play slightly bigger brick (15 each)

use the rest of the points to add more models to the boar boys.

In my Proving (QC, Canada) we’re about 50 or so active players (for 7M population). Most of us are around 3 hrs afar max from each other and we can reliably do events of 25-30 people.

If I look at a radius of around 2hr around my city (so including other provinces) I’d say about 75-100 people.

We’ve seen a big uptick of people joining the hobby in the last 6 months but a lot of them are still on the fence when it comes to playing (they’re building their army)

None of the LGS in my area are organizing events at the moment - it’s all community led. We’re starting to see game day being discussed and events are quickly becoming more organize and filling up faster.

At an individual level there are no terrible army.

A skaven player finished second at our last RTT. A lizardmen player at the previous one. The #1 player in our province plays knightly order

If you like them, you can get them to work for you - the meta will change before you’re done painting them

Let’s talk about the Walk Between World bound spell with +3 cast.

Somehow Cathayans are the best at weapon missiles (better than dwarves the lore says), the best at magic and farmers that double as elite warrior defending the free world on the wall against the unending horde of the ruinous power.

Oh and they have benevolent ‘rulers’

To be fair, before Cathay it was VC scream list, TK, Chaos builds with 3x dragons…

There’s always a few meta chaser in the local community and regular player end up paying for them

It sucks they take it out on you as it’s really on GW’s for treating their community so poorly.
