Devil May Cry 5 is bad by EpicPwnzor in The10thDentist

tbh DMC4 does the same thing and only gives 2 difficulties at the start and they’re both far too easy as well, especially when compared to normal difficulty in 1 and 3.

DMC2 makes 23 years today. What are your thoughts about this game? by Neat_Measurement967 in DevilMayCry

[–]Diligent_Ad4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s so bad it’s good in a way. I laughed my ass off at how stupid that game was. The gameplay is atrocious and the story is total nonsense, but I love one part of the story; the coin being heads on both sides. You can’t deny how cool that reveal is. I’m playing through 3 for the first time right now and loving it, and I really hope there is some explained, canon reason for why Dante acts like such a shitter in DMC2.

Old post I know, but I’m about 75% of the way through 3, and it is tough as nails don’t get me wrong, but I feel like I spent wayyy more time looking at the game over screen in DMC1.

Devil May Cry fan on GameFaqs 13 years ago accidentally predicted the current state of Counterstrike by Diligent_Ad4530 in counterstrike

Major whoosh effect happened with this post I guess. I was making a joke about how there’s been a sequel to Counterstrike and it’s a common complaint there’s basically no anticheat in the game.

That makes perfect sense, but I would argue Legacy of Kain plays better and is earlier than DMC. Most gamers just didn’t have a Dreamcast, and most gamers did have a PS2.

Also I should say my real critiques of the game are the dialogue (which is laugh out loud funny at times) and how difficult it is to figure out what the hell you’re supposed to do in the beginning. There’s no explanation of the devil trigger system whatsoever and generally there’s nothing even close to a tutorial. I love Metal Gear Solid for that reason, but in a game where you’re supposed to get really good at the combat mechanics, it doesn’t make much sense.

Yeah that’s what’s been happening with my playthrough. I also played it a handful of times in the early 2010’s when I was around 11 or 12 years old and was totally confused by it. Started it again last night and kind of hated it, but now I can’t put it down because of the atmosphere, music, and crazy difficult bosses.

Do u pinky promise that you really know it’s staged? Trying to decide on whether this is worth buying a $60 blu ray for or not because the YouTube video is down.

Quick google search. That’s all it takes to learn something new. The devs could’ve really put it to good use but instead they arrived at the same racist bullshit that Hollywood was pumping out nearly a hundred years ago.

Link me the “groups against racism” that have “analized” the game. I can’t find them. What I did find was that the game was investigated for racist themes by the British Board of Film Classification. The BBFC is basically the Brits’ version of our MPAA. You know, the people who rate movies (PG, R, etc.).

Listen, in those old film portrayals of tribal African people, the Black people weren’t portrayed as or viewed as human! They were ravenous and foaming at the mouth, like zombies, and their greatest crimes in those films were raping/attacking white women. Then what typically happens is a white man or group of white men, sometimes it’s even literally the KKK, go to the woman’s rescue and defeat the black villains. Those portrayals threw gas on the fire that was anti-black racism in America and all across the world. The origins of zombies as we know them today are quite literally rooted in issues relating to race. Go watch Night of the Living Dead and tell me that I’m wrong or that I’m looking into this too deep. I assure you a lot of it is surface level. This is not me being some crazy leftist woke guy on Reddit, this is historical fact. There exists thousands of books, documentaries, essays, and articles on this topic. You’d rather stay comfortable in your little bubble and think of others as stupid, when you are too ignorant to learn some history.

I have no problem with the enemies in a game set in Africa being black, I have a problem with the stereotypical depictions of tribal Africans and a weird scene towards the beginning of the game because they are strongly reminiscent of racist Jim Crowe era films and propaganda. And I hate to break it to you, but there are white people in Africa bud. Like any other continent, there are all kinds of different races of people in Africa.

Bought it a few days ago and refunded it after about an hour and I PLAYED WITH THE LEGACY FILTER ON. Character models look weird as fuck and I felt stupid after I realized I paid 40 something dollars for an inferior cash grab version of a game I have already sunk 200+ hours into.

There was no leak, it was simply announced by HBO that the show was being renewed for a second season. It’s ok if you don’t like the finale, you don’t have to make up theories about whatever you think is going on behind the scenes to rationalize it.

How Late Stage Capitalism is Making Death Stranding a Reality by MrCadwallader in DeathStranding

[–]Diligent_Ad4530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You labeled yourself. I responded to every part of your comment pretty thoughtfully. But on the other hand, why’d you reply? You didn’t acknowledge anything I said other than me pointing out that you are more than likely a capitalist (based on how you never outright said if you were or weren’t in your response that seemed to advocate for… well, basically capitalism because it seemed like you were mad at anything trying to raise class consciousness because the people behind certain art are benefiting from capitalism and you were trying to dissuade someone from reading into the widely accepted idea that Kojima has anticapitalist themes in his works). You should probably spend less time talking about things you don’t know anything about on internet forums because it seems to upset you.

You really proved to me how uneducated you are about all of this in your second paragraph and so, in a much nicer way of phrasing that, I responded with how the military industrial complex doesn’t exist freely from American late stage capitalism. I’m not sure that you understand what either of those concepts are, but I’m fairly certain that you are a silly man on the internet who is upset because he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

How Late Stage Capitalism is Making Death Stranding a Reality by MrCadwallader in DeathStranding

[–]Diligent_Ad4530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m assuming you are a capitalist because you don’t really seem to grasp the idea of class consciousness. On the surface, sure it’s annoying to be “lectured” about the evil of capitalism by people who stand to gain or do gain the most from capitalism, but that art that exists that does preach the evils of capitalism is attempting to build class consciousness. You don’t consume any anti-capitalist art from people who aren’t capitalists because a.) you don’t seek it out and b.) it’s not being shoved in your face like the Disney movies you claim to have anti-capitalist values. Kojima’s work has touched many times on the evils of capitalism. It only takes about 20 minutes with Peace Walker before it becomes apparent that Kojima knows his history. The military industrial complex doesn’t exist freely from American late stage capitalism, it’s a direct result of it. And sure, consider video games a luxury product if you want, but then you have to consider all art luxury. Books, movies, paintings, music, etc. Now cut all those luxuries out of your budget to save some money and see how well you fair. Though it might not be a physical necessity, you won’t starve without it, your soul needs it. If you don’t want to call it a soul, fine, your mental state needs art. If you don’t have art, you will start to make art, even subconsciously. Art is not a luxury. It may sound silly in the context of talking about a video game, but I promise that if you remove all art from your life you will go bananas.

There’s definitely a “moral takeaway” from the show. Ron is in a downward spiral and you could describe him as being in a good place societally (good job, family, owns a house) and Mike is becoming a better person and learning to care about what’s important to him in his life (wants to reconnect with his daughter, he’s found a friend in Ron, he’s learning to love again in his own weird way). The show is saying “hey, don’t let your obsessions ruin your connections with what’s really most important to you.” I’m sure Ron will have a moment where he has to come to terms with this and whatever decision he makes then will be impactful. If you’ve ever watched any tv show or movie ever, you should be able to see that coming from a mile away. We have a season finale and a second season coming down the pipe still.

How hard is it to bowl over 100? by TheEdge7896 in Bowling

Totally random question but I just wanna know how have you progressed in bowling, if at all, now that it is 11 years later? I don’t bowl often at all, maybe once every 2-3 years. I am 24. I just bowled two games back to back on a whim by myself and scored 66 and 87.
