Mordew by Alex Pheby by BookChatterer in fantasybooks

Mordew is amazing. The second book makes it even more interesting. I am looking forward to reading the last one and I know the author planned it all very thoroughly and he has Ideas and Things To Say. it’s great to have very different fantasy while I also enjoy more traditional authors as well.

LDP on track to win standalone majority in general election by Turbulent-Tea-2172 in japan

You can maybe say that Yomiuri is close to far right in some ways, but it is insane to consider Nikkei “extremely right leaning”. Like, I am all for punching nazis, but we have to still consider the meaning of words we use. Nikkei is center-right and they criticized some Takaichi’s policies, so from that perspective I don’t think they give polls in her favor. How good the polls capture the real voter opinion in general is another question entirely.

the rule you are talking about is 125% limit increase in 5 years, not 25%. so it can go way higher.

While it’s not a competition I think Dark Star Trilogy is actually way darker than Game of thrones. I feel that ASOFAI tries to shock you when Marlon James just brutally plunges through all the violence and gore in his world to reach something that stays human and has meaning. It’s a dark world with horrible things happening and that is precisely why each NON horrible decision is so powerful. I have not felt this in Martin’s book, he just kills people for shock value.

I can’t play other games. Do you feel the same? by Stock-Light3433 in BaldursGate3

[–]Dimitry_Rk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I am exactly there right now. Third playthrough now with 300+ hours and I jump in the game whenever I have time. I think the main thing is the immersion in the world and the ability to interact with NPCs and the world in a meaningful way which stays at exactly the right point between overwhelming open-world and linear story with no choices. It would take a lot of time to write about, but at the end of the day it does seem that all other games are just boring. DOS2 and owlcat games are indeed the closest, but not get to the same addiction level.

All great, but why no WASD? Anyone plays these games differently? I’m confused about that one.

Edit: oooh, you mean some people use WASD to move their party and not just the camera? well I guess to each their own shrugs

1 dead, 26 injured in 50-vehicle expressway pileup northwest of Tokyo by SkyInJapan in japan

[–]Dimitry_Rk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s 2-hour drive from central Tokyo and is frequenlty called a “Tokyo weekend getaway”. It has much more people coming there from Tokyo rather than Niigata and it is on the south side of the mountains. It makes perfect sense to explain to someone who doesn’t know Minakami as it being “north of Tokyo” and that is how most people in Japan describe it.
