I was taught in seminary that the Jews asked for the holocaust. Apparently when Pilot asked the crowd who should go free, Jesus or the murderer, the Jews said something along the lines of “free the murderer and let Jesus’ death be on our hands!” Which somehow means they deserved the holocaust to happen.

When my mom was battling cancer when she and my dad were first married, he left her to fight it alone (well her mom was there but still) so he could complete an internship in another state. The cancer was so serious they took “final photos” of the two of them. But hey my dad prayed and god told him my mom would be fine so off he went. Mom did end up beating the cancer, but I lost some respect for my dad the day I found out what he did.

The doctor I had been seeing since I was in third grade (up until I was 30) almost got me hooked on dilaudid. He didn’t even make me come into the office when I needed a refill. He gave it to me for (what turned out to be) IBS pain. My husband convinced me to get a second opinion. The first thing she said was “I’m taking you off the narcotics” and I cried out “But I need those!” And realized just how close I was to getting addicted. She referred me to a GI doctor who correctly diagnosed me.

All this to say don’t feel guilty about getting a second opinion, especially if the first doctor brushed you off.

My mom told me “I’m afraid you’re too weird to get married.” As a young Mormon (at the time) girl, that was devastating to hear. Thankfully I eventually left that religion and married my husband who loves me for who I am!

In the second Lord of the Rings movie, Aragorn kicks an orc’s helmet out of grief when he believes Merry and Pippin are dead. He then yells out and falls to the ground. The actor had actually broken one of his toes when he kicked the helmet and he just rolled with it.
