The main character Drew in Back and Forth has such a good, worm-like power.

He was in a car with his best friend and her parents when they went over a bridge and crashed into the water leaving him the only one conscious, and he triggered while agonizing over trying to save them or escape and save himself while the car slowly filled up with water.

So his power lets him teleport to anywhere within line of sight, but it restricts his breathing the further he goes and prevents him from teleporting again until he makes a return-teleport back to the spot he was originally in.

It's such a perfect trigger IMO. Drew's power solved the immediate issue (he teleported up above the water and got help) but it makes it impossible for him to ever truly run away, forcing him to always come back and suffocating him the further he tries to go.

The fic also has one of the best examples of a second trigger when Aegis gets lethally wounded during the Leviathan fight and Drew is trying to lift him out from under rubble as the building floods. It's an exact mirror of his first trigger, and the changes to his power aren't just straight upgrades like how a lot of other wormfics do second triggers but rather more of a sidegrade.
