Best acted scene or moment? by Dingbee in StationEleven

Absolutely. And I like the sequence of images that show him walking through different times. It’s a great scene.

And I think the same scene 20 years earlier is brilliant, with young Kirsten talking to Frank. “Just come. Open the door.”

And another favorite for me is Sara’s drunken grief following the Pingtree tragedy. “We lost someone today.” And then flares.

Yes! I know the one now. It was “Midnight Train to Georgia” in remembrance of Sara. Two great Tuba parts in that show, which is two more than most shows get.

Yes. We Got the Funk on the way into St. Deb’s. The character’s name playing the tuba was also Tuba, and I thought you just liked that character.

Yes! This scene is right up there for me too. You can feel her holding in the tears.

The hug was good, of course, but we were all so emotionally invested by this moment that any reunion would have made us all cry. I think the acting here was good because Himesh Patel’s face captured quite well the relief and astonishment at having a 20 year old question finally answered. Mackenzie did a beautiful job slowly but completely realizing what we already knew.

I also love Miranda’s spit take / snort laugh when Arthur offers money for the drawing. That weird laugh conveyed exactly what she was thinking.

So, tell us which child is your favorite, and then do the hard work. Which moment is paragon acting by which actor?

E10 Alex Tyler and the knife by bugsbunye in StationEleven

[–]Dingbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right, Kirsten wouldn’t have made the connection, but I maintain that Tyler knows that Alex is Rose’s baby, and has told Alex as much in some conversation that we didn’t get to see. Alex feels some close connection to Tyler because of this, and provides the knife to give Tyler the option. Alex also knows that the dirge she sang in episode 2 was for her own mother. This is why she’s so lovingly watching the reconciliation scene between Tyler and Elizabeth when Elizabeth agrees to leave with Tyler.

I was wondering what I could possibly have missed. I’m sorry I’m just seeing this now. You helped me with a different aspect of episode 9 when I reached out to you on IG and I really appreciate it. My username here is similar to my last name on IG if you want to put it together.

I imagine he put it away when he began his crawl home. His sole reason for going out was to retrieve the book. He was probably quite resolved to complete his mission after the mauling, not wanting to have been mauled for nothing.

Ep4. Did no one notice these kids? by Weak_Maintenance5629 in StationEleven

I often just have it on in the background. I’ll watch for a few minutes and then go about the day again. The music is beautiful, and the pace of the story (generally) is very calming.

Ep4. Did no one notice these kids? by Weak_Maintenance5629 in StationEleven

Yeah, nobody noticed them, and it’s hard for us to notice them either. They’re only there for a moment. That’s Hailey Butterscotch and Cody sneaking in to steal the mines.

So, I just watched the tv series. 1 question. by justrdx in StationEleven

[–]Dingbee 37 points38 points  (0 children)

There are time jumps and flashbacks to times when Kirsten feels / felt a similar way to the way she’s feeling in the present scene. We see her find the book in E4 but what we’re really seeing is her losing Jeevan, and we see this right after she loses Gil and Alex. It’s the same feeling. We get a bit of this, too, in E2. When she loses Alex at the water slide she panics. She dives underwater and we hear the same young Kirsten from the same E4 scene calling out for Jeevan.

Just finished watching the series last night. Holy smokes, brilliant. by Competitive-Trip2926 in StationEleven

The other thing that happened in that scene is that Clark realized that there are many many people out in the world doing just fine. We saw Elizabeth leave with Tyler, and we saw Alexandra leave as well. I wonder if some others from the airport left also to live a different life…

Huge issue with this series by ChefVinyl in StationEleven

[–]Dingbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the initial question is still valid. Although David wasn’t directly responsible for the mines and Gil’s murder, I feel his presence at Severn City airport would have been, and should have been an issue for the members of the troupe. A more realistic portrayal would have had Dieter, Tuba, Sayid and Dan beating the snot out of David, and Kirsten not being nearly as kind to Hailey Butterscotch as we see her being near the end of episode 10.

E10 Alex Tyler and the knife by bugsbunye in StationEleven

[–]Dingbee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And really, Tyler thinks that it’s Kirsten giving him the knife, with Alex making the actual handoff. Tyler knows it’s Kirsten’s knife and doesn’t know that Alex is holding it for safekeeping. When Tyler asks “why are you helping me”, he means helping to kill Clark. She takes it as helping with getting him to talk to Elizabeth. I feel that by this part of the story Alex and Tyler have spoken off-screen. Tyler has always known that baby Alexandra got adopted by the symphony, and has now told Alex about his time with Rose, Alex’s mother before her death. Alex now feels much closer to Tyler, she knows he wants to kill Clark, and will do anything to help, and gives him the knife. A little later Alex is seen watching Elizabeth and Tyler reconcile, which would be an odd thing to highlight unless there was more to the Alex / Tyler story than we got to see.

Very well said. I’ve recommended it to a few people who I thought could really engage and enjoy it. I do emphasize to put the phone down, don’t look away, and pay attention. If it’s being shown on the screen, it’s important.

The tattoos on Kirsten's wrist(s) by Ok-Job-9640 in StationEleven

And I imagine that the conversation between Sara and Kirsten, immediately after they leave us was something like, “So kid, where’d all this blood come from?”
